This place is lit tbh, it was slow today since it was raining but it's okay because we were able to enjoy the food and our time as a group cracking jokes. Our bartender / waitress Courtney was the best, she was always on point with taking care of us and boy, she has a great memory. Took our order without even writing a single thing down. She was friendly and made us feel welcome. The food was simple but good, I had the shrimp PO boy . I couldn't stop eating it even after I was full . I went for my first time today, I had a great time, Kristen was great, they had a great selection of beer, the quesadillas were fantastic, but the Jacked up grilled cheese challenge was what made my night. Great place with great food for really good prices. They have a $5 beer (Founders IPA) and shot special anytime; everything on the menu is under $10, and its all good and fills you up. Wings were awesome (ask to make them extra spicy if that's your thing), burgers are big and juicy, and fries are consistently crisp. Sometimes they're so busy you can't walk in, and sometimes they're almost completely empty. They have a lunch special from 11-2 which is a lunch item and a beer for $10, which is awesome. I tried going there at 10:30AM once, but they were closed - maybe they don't actually open at 10AM? Maybe they are inconsistent? Or maybe they were having a bad day. Regardless (and I hate to take off a star for it), but inconsistent hours is a personal pet peeve. Oh yea, they have a nice dart board there, so if you're into that, there ya go. read more

can't give this place a 0 star because yelp doesn't allowed me to. went there with my wife on a dead dead sunday night to get some apps and drinks around 730pm to 8pm, sat down at the bar and the bartender literally took 10 min to greet us and give us the menu why? because she was busy drinking with her friends or whatever. her attitude was nasty. after she told us that the kitchen was closed at 8pm which is weird, we decided to get drinks and she was still so so busy with like 3 people that was in there that night. we decided to leave because of the service. this place is better off closed if theyere not gonna give proper service to they're costumers. keep it up and you'll be calling john staffer again for a second rescue read more

Being a big bar rescue fan I've been wanting to try this place for a while. When I saw a Groupon available I knew this was finally the time to give it a try. We went on a rainy Saturday night and it was completely empty ,only one other couple and some drunk guy that seemed like a regular since the bartender knew him by name. We sat at the tables grabbed a menu from the bar and ordered our first drinks. I got the family rekindle and my boyfriend got a beer. My drink was great sweet enough with a nice kick. We were thoroughly impressed with the beer selection and I couldn't wait to try some of the ciders or so I thought . So we decided on sharing their apps which were pretty good we got the wings, calamari, quesadilla and loaded fries. This is when everything started going downhill.... halfway through our meal we were done with our drinks and wanted another round. I kept thinking oh she will come by in a few since there is no one here but she was more interested with hanging out with what seemed like her friends at the end of the bar. It's one thing to forget about customers when you have a full bar but not when it's completely empty!!! All we really wanted was another drink or even a water! I would say about 20 minutes after finishing our food she finally comes to collect our plates and she still didn't ask if we wanted another round! I was so disappointed because this place really had potential. The decor and menu really set this place up for success but if the staff can't execute by a simple hey want another round? I don't see how this place can succeed. We could've been on our third round by the time we left the bar but too bad. Went here last night w a group for a birthday . Service was terrible. Waitress was slow and it took 45 mins for a quesadilla and fries. A couple of times we has out drinks served to us with a few missing drinks. The crowd is a neighborhood crowd and rude to say the least. The makeover is cool but thats about it. The food wasn't even hot. I would rather go to Sidetracks or The Mad Donkey in Astoria. Service is better and people are pleasant and smiling read more

Came here for the first time with a $20 food Groupon the day of Halloween. Ordered a couple of their signature burgers at $10 each, and holy crap, that was one of the largest and juiciest burgers I've ever had. It really hit the spot. Sat outside even though it was chilly. Electricians were laying some new cable, so it was a little messy, but the staff was super nice and explained they were getting ready for a Halloween party. They also told us about the football Sunday specials and happy hour. Overall, I think they're putting a lot of effort in getting Sunnysiders through the door and it's certainly a great place to get some food and drinks while paying suburban prices - and maybe catch a game or two. read more

We had a really fun night out here (Sat night). We live in Astoria but wanted to come after Bar R. obvi. I liked that the crowd seemed to have no specific identity in that it really reflected the neighborhood/felt inclusive. Appreciated that they weren't shy with the volume of the music, people were really getting into it. At one point everyone was singing "I have friends in low places". Went with a friend recently in the afternoon. We ordered food and had to wait until the cook and the waitress were done eating, the bartender had to make then get up to cook. From the point of view we had at the bar you could see the food was frozen and they microwaved it first then torched it second . The food was horrible as well as the service. Bar rescue should close the if it doesn't keep up with the service. read more

**3.5 Stars** I like this place. I recently moved to the neighborhood, so i didnt know it before the remodel, but it seems like a good neighborhood spot. Tough location though - it's really, otherwise all residential around here (Skillman gets foot traffic, but further down the street) - so i've got to imagine that's hard for business. This place always has a good bunch of neighborhood folks in here. If I'm going to generalize, it's probably a reflection of the owners - firefighters - and seems like that type of hard-working crowd. There's certainly nothing wrong with that, but if they wanted to grow the business, without changing the vibe too much --- get more of the white-collar folks, young families, etc, i'd give them a few suggestions: --put tables in front (outside) of the bar. not everyone wants to spend their meal staring at TVs. It's great during football season, but it's nice to have an alternative (in addition to outdoor seating in the back of the bar). --bring in some craft beers. Dogfish (!), brooklyn brewery, geez even Sam Adams. Just something so that i can look beyond Bud Light and Heineken. --advertise. on my facebook page. or my twitter feed. --make one menu item GREAT. Create an AMAZING burger. Something on the menu that sets this place apart, foodwise. I absolutely love jacks fire house!! Came here for two events that my job had one was a Christmas party for staff and another one was a recent fundraiser to have enrichment programs for our school. The food drinks, and staff are amazing!! The burgers and fries are to die for it was such a huge portion you could barely finish it. The appetizers that were served at that fundraiser was delicious especially the wings. Can't wait to come back for the end of the school year staff party!! read more

Amazing spot to watch a game (6 BIG tvs!). Staff is super friendly. Big tvs. Great sound system. I took a point off because the loaded fries were basically nacho sauce on fries with some bacon sprinkles on. That offends my Irish ancestors. But the wings were great. BBQ wings were perfect. Saucy and crunchy. The regular one were crunchy, but not spicy at all (maybe they can make it spicier on request). But I'd definitely come back here again. I've been here before but not a frequent customer. I was compelled to write a review because I've never gotten ill from a place until now. Was there July 30 '17 when I decided to order food. I was forewarned by a girl sitting next to me that she had the Irish potato skins before and got sick when she saw that I was about to eat it. I had ordered that and chicken quesadillas. The potato skins were burnt beyond belief on the bottom. It tasted as if I was eating something charcoal flavored. The quesadillas seemed okay in the beginning but then I bit into maybe a few pieces of chicken that were "crunchy". That to me says it was undercooked. Skip ahead a half hour and here I am at home puking because I just got sick from something listed above. Other than that the bartender was great. I probably won't be going back there anytime soon. If I do end up there, I won't be ordering food anytime soon read more

Decided to try out Jack's Fire house in Sunny Side, Queens. Frozen food and water down drinks, really? Its just disgusting. We even told the bartender how bad the food was and she told one of the owners and he just sat back and didn't even apologize. It's just disgusting. Never again. Don't waste your time on going Here. The service is friendly, the beer is cold, and the bar food is your typical bar food. If you want to watch (and listen to) a game, come early so you can request the game you want as it's first come, first serve. We didn't get to hear our game, but it was still a fun place. read more
