These folks are great. First good gas prices that are full service. Great service and inspections. Always very nice and always a fair price. None of the price gauging of other mechanics. A couple times I thought they did not charge me enough. Mechanic wouldn't take a tip after standing in rain and fixing my car in an urgent situation for me because the bays were full and I had a small problem. I try to buy all my gas from them, get all my inspections there. We finally got decent cars so I use them less often now. The wife who runs inspections and does the books is exceptionally nice. Now I know exactly how far I can legally go down onto the "American-Standard 1 line" is the rule unless it's a jeep or a vehicle that has short windshields that requires the 6 inches rule; which is the OR. Dropped off my vehicle to have them assess what was wrong. Later in the day, they called me saying that I'd need to spend between $300-$400 to complete the job (which was reasonable). However, I asked a simple question because I wanted to understand specifics about the repair that would be done. My question was met with defensiveness, and I initially got zero explanation to help me understand. The manager seemed very impatient and unwilling to talk with me. He replied "I don't have an explanation for you. It's just our policy." Not willing to accept that answer (after all this is MY property and it is reasonable for a customer to understand what they are paying for) I politely asked a clarifying question. At that point, he began to REPEATEDLY talk over me, cut me off so I couldn't get a word in, and then hung up on me. I immediately called back and he intentionally didn't answer the phone, despite letting it ring for two minutes straight. I absolutely do not suggest you go to this place for repairs. In Massachusetts they pump your fuel. It's a novel concept in this day considering few states still require employees to pump. I know NJ still requires.. The location in Medford is just outside Tufts University. It's a tiny old school station probably owned by Jack. It's a two pump operation. I recall a three garage operation for car repairs. Everything I saw was clear of debris. As soon as I pulled up a male attendant exited the building to get my order. This all just seemed weird. Once the fill up was complete payment was taken by credit card. No offer to clean the windows or check my oil. A good stop and above average. I've been going to Jack's for years for oil changes, inspections and the odd repair and I've always found them to be extremely fair, fast and very nice people. The other day they went above and beyond for me and I am just so grateful. I was driving through Medford Square after leaving an instant oil change place we won't name and noticed my car was driving extremely strangely. Luckily I knew Jack's was just up ahead I pulled in. The culprit was a completely flat tire -- I had NO IDEA. The employee Nick (I believe) was so helpful and took great care of me. I was so happy to have discovered this place for auto repair. Honest great repairs for a fair price. This place cannot be beat.

I pulled in here because something was rubbing on my back wheel and I could barely drive the car. Guys were great, they put the car right up on the lift to check it out. Turns out when the car was in for service a few weeks earlier the mechanic at the dealership didn't tighten the lugnuts on that back wheel. There was one lugnut left on the back wheel and it was loose!! Guys in the shop put 2 extra lugnuts I had in the trunk and added another at no charge. For the first time doing this by myself out of state (and first time failing!) they were super fast, friendly and honest in their inspection. I brought an older vehicle of mine (2002 BMW) to Jack's Gas for new brake pads, rotors, and calipers due to the car being driven infrequently and ruining the brakes. Originally, I planned on doing work at the dealership who has been servicing the car but they simply wanted too much money for brakes on a car that maybe drives 3,000 miles a year. Frank and Elias did a fantastic job servicing my car! They were 100% correct that the caliper had rusted and seized on one side, causing the squeaking noise I was hearing. Along with that, he noticed that it had a leaking CV Boot and gave me an extremely reasonable price for replacing the axle. They were able to do a full brake job and the CV boot for significantly less than the dealership wanted for the brakes alone! My car drives beautifully again, so much so that I have opted to drive it more than my 3 year old car this past week! With great shops like Jacks who have great people like Frank and Elias, I'm able to support a local business and keep myself from taking on a car payment by paying reasonable prices to keep my second car running in top shape! read more

Full service gas pumping, and state inspections to boot. Don't expect great snacks, though. A quick and dirty (albeit thorough) inspection ran me the state standard $35 and took less than 10 minutes. Cards accepted; seasonal banter offered free of charge. Cooler of drinks will ply you with 20 ounces of corn syrup for a buck and a half. The haphazard bags of chips, however, leave something to be desired. Unless that desire is windshield wiper fluid, which they have plenty of out by the pumps. Grab and go! I feel fortunate to live near by, but even if life were to take me an hour to so away living wise, at some point, I will always drive here for issues relating to my car. There is nothing they can't do when it comes to fixing your cars! I also get my cars inspected there every year. Do not fill the gas here unless you want to repair your car engine later. I hope everyone can see it before stop by here for gas. I used to do state inspections here a couple of times, and stop by for gas. I have been trusting these guys without any problem until this Sunday when I filled my car with their gas here. The engine ran into problems on Monday morning and I had to call a tow truck. The technician at the dealership said the gas I got from this station failed for all tests. It is possible that they just added too much ethanol which is much cheaper. Actually when the technician showed me the sample he got from my car tank. See the picture I attached. Anyone could tell it was not like gas, it is something very clear. my car tank was nearly empty on that day before filling here, and I filled full. So I know the gas must come from Jak's. Bottom line, this gas station may give you a low price for gas, but be prepared to spend a few hundred dollars to repair your car if you use their gas. I am not sure how many people will run into problems like me after filling gas here this week. Good luck with them. read more

Had to run in and get a part for my car - told them my make, model, and part...within minutes they had the part! Because it was after market they were not entirely sure that it would work, so they told me I could try it and come back for an exchange if it was not right (even though it would be open and 'used'), that is pretty great compared to most places! It is a full service gas station, which frankly I am still not used to. Do you tip them? If there is a line and only one person working but four pumps are you allowed to get it yourself? These things stump me, for now. They have a one stall repair garage too. Their pricing for service looks pretty reasonable and when I asked about oil changes, tire rotation, etc it seemed like there was no need to book weeks in advance (maybe a day or two it sounded like). They were on foreign and domestic, even turbos (good for me!). Overall, shop seems well run, clean and with a friendly staff. I am likely to give them non-dealer required service for my car without hesitation! read more

I drove in this morning with my just-expired inspection sticker, and they took me in for an inspection right away. Within 5 minutes, they had inspected the car, replaced the sticker, printed the inspection report, rung me up for the bill, and backed out my car from the bay. Super fast and friendly! I've taken my care to Jack's for the past few years whenever I have a problem or need routine service, and I have generally had good experiences. The service is always quick and friendly, and the prices are typically pretty reasonable. Most recently, I got into my car on a Sunday morning and the radio and lights turned on, but the engine was completely silent. After thinking things through, I called Jack's and they said that their mechanic was out given that it was Sunday, but they would happily hold it there until he came the next morning at 8 AM. I called AAA and within the hour, the car was at Jack's waiting to be inspected. Fast forward to the next morning when the mechanic was able to take a look at my car, diagnose the issue, and replace the part...all before noon! They were extremely flexible with the droop off and pickup times also, and someone was there as late as 8 PM for me to pickup my car. In general, I've always had pleasant experiences at Jack's. The one criticism I had during my most recent experience was that I had to call a few times the following morning to understand about what the issue was and what parts needed replaced. Even with this, I'll continue to take my car to Jack's given its reliable and dependable service. read more
