Located near San Mateo downtown, parking is plentiful and easy to find. The interior is large and bustling. Decor was very cool made the place quite lively. Buffalo chicken wrap (5/5): so checking yummy and delicious. The wrap was nicely made and presentation was great. The chicken was crispy and the other ingredients balanced the texture out nicely. Service was great. On top of that I loved where we sat still indoors but had sizeable openings to let outside air in. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, Jack's Restaurant and Bar is a great place. Food is delicious and service was spectacular.
There was some miscommunications between servers. The food was good though and the atmosphere was nice. I had crepes and my son had eggs Benedict. The restaurant itself is a pretty good size and has a second dining room.
Loved this place. Lots of seating, no wait and our server was fantastic. Casual and super family friendly. They have a little of everything on the menu but we went with burgers, which never happens but we couldn't resist. They were cooked to order (lamb and beef) and were spot on. We picked crispy fries and sweet potato fries as the side and they were excellent. The sour dough bread is to die for. We split a beer on tap and it was so good and they even offered to bring a second glass (love this so much) and provided some of the yummy sweet potato dipping sauce in the to go box. You will not walk away hungry.
Jack's is such a great place to have lunch with coworkers or enjoy a meal with family and friends. They have a large variety of mac and cheese dishes, pasta, salad, and sandwiches. Their chili is also surprisingly good and very hearty! There's plenty of parking in a lot shared with CVS, which is a bonus. Definitely a place I'll continue to

I ordered a strawberry mocktail wasnt my favorite but the shirley temple was amazing. I tried the tuna melt one of the best ive ever had. I ordered the salmon it was okay nothing to rave about. Id definitely come back the service was good as well.
I want to say that Jack's has been a go to over the years for my family and has never disappointed us. This specific location is our favorite due to the restaurant's layout and quality of food.They accommodate us every time we bring our service dog and always leave satisfied. Today I ordered the mediterranean sampler ( which consists of plenty of pita bread, hummus, tzatziki, olives, and diced cucumbers, tomatoes, onions etc)- it is always a great appetizer to start off with as it is fresh and light, and a french dip. Jack's french dip is a customer favorite and honestly it is rightfully so. The sandwich is stacked with tender meat and the bread is fluffy and soft. The au jus is the star of the show! My mom was in the mood for breakfast and the corned beef hash hit the spot. Our server was very attentive and treated us well.

Not sure if the bread is given automatically but we had to ask for it, which I'm so glad we did. I'm a bread person and the warm sourdough bread hit the spot. Food was yummy and big portions Crispy Fried Chicken 10/10- so delicious that it needed no hot sauce or anything. Crispy, flavorful, juicy. Mama meatloaf 9/10 not dry, loved that it came with onion rings for texture and flavor. My son got the kids chicken tenders 10/10 he ate all his chicken with no complaints. Which does not happen often. Ambiance was clean even though it as busy and simply decorated. Will definitely be back to try more options. Our new spot after visiting my grandma.
We had a nice dinner at Jack's! We went for Happy Hour which had really great deals. The appetizers we got (chips&dip, wings) were super yummy. Our meals were also tasty! We sat on the patio and it was warmed appropriately during the rain. The service was nothing to write home about, semi-slow and didn't check in a lot but very kind. Will go back!
At the location for a classic car weekend meet-up, was curious about the lines in front, so I was determined to give it a try. EVERY dish was amazing. Our server , ( Scolar or Skyler, sorry bad with names ) was amazing , I love how they work as a team and checking on us filling up water , breads, boxes ... anything we want. Super nice folks Very crowded place but hey, it's worth it. Come and try
This place is huge and has a ton of options, which makes it great for groups and picky eaters. There is plenty of parking, quick service, a full bar, and a covered patio for outdoor seating. They serve everything from breakfast and brunch to lunch and dinner. Portions are very large for the price and most entrees are around twenty dollars. They also have a both a happy hour and a late night happy hour, with well priced food and drinks. Easy spot to meet up when everyone wants something different.
Food was great! I was 1 of an 11 person group that enjoyed the services provided by this establishment (More children than adults) and we had a great time. The chicken strips were chicken striping, the French-fries were french-frying, and the grilled cheese was grilled cheesing. Besides the food, the ambiance was perfect, the kids could be loud without causing a commotion without it feeling overly noisy inside. The adult food was also very tasty and full of flavor! Carbonara was perfect, chili Mac and cheese was wonderful. Also!!! That pregame table bread almost stole the show! stop thinking about it and just come here!

Our waiter was great and arrived at our table pretty fast to take our beverage choice. We both chose an Arnold Palmer and it was the best tasting one I've ever had! I noticed they offered an early bird dinner, even on a Sat., for around $27! The had a 10 oz. NY steak option with bread, soup or salad, mashed potatoes and veggies. My steak was perfectly prepared as I asked- med rare. The mashed potatoes were not salty and tasted buttery and the side of veggies were steamed just right. They do not offer a free dessert for birthdays that I know of but we chose to share a slice of the tuxedo cake. OMG! Large enough for 3 people! Great ganache frosting with layers of chocolate cake and creamy goodness! A few waiters came over and sang Happy Birthday to my friend table side. She loved it! I recommend this location for the ease of parking, the great service and a wide array of entrees to choose from. I'll be back.

I just keep coming back here - loving the benedict as always, sometimes an omelette, sometimes the shrimp cocktail to mix things up - almost always order the mini bottle of champagne - always a nice time with friends, always great service, yummy food, and fun to run into people from your life - everyone seems to come here! read more

Good service by wait staff "Scala" .Efficient and cordial. The grilled salmon either on a salad or as a main dish are excellent. Salads are fresh, recommend the cob salad. Pretale sole is fresh. Breakfast options available until 2pm. Save room for dessert, especially if you want to venture the "Tuxedo". but we opted for the cheese cake and baklava read more

We came here for lunch and the place wasn't that busy so we got seated fairly quickly. The service was quick and staff were friendly. The fried chicken really caught me by surprise because it was delicious and super juicy! The portion of fries were so large I couldn't even finish it and I was stuffed. read more

I enjoyed the dishes I ordered; I mixed up my dishes to make it a different experience. Small dishes for lunch that satisfied my hunger. I find this to be a great way to enjoy dining without ordering to much food. read more

6/30/24 Zach and I had gone to the Jack's in San Bruno and wanted to try out this Jack's in San Mateo. We walked to Jack's that evening since it's only a 13 minute walk from our apartment. For those of you driving there, they have a sizeable parking lot. When we got there, it was busy but we didn't have to wait that long for a table. Here's what we got: - Lamb and beef meatballs (to share) - Spaghetti carbonara + mixed green salad (mine) - Mama eleni's meatloaf + Cesar salad (his) The meatballs were the first to come out, but it took almost 20 minutes. The meatballs were pretty tasty though. The tomato sauce has a nice kick to it; too bad there wasn't more of the meatballs to eat. Next came the salads that were pretty standard. About 10 minutes later, the main dishes came out. The carbonara was cooked perfectly and I liked that the sauce was creamy. The only thing I didn't like was that there was so much grease when I was finishing up the pasta. I grabbed some of the mashed potatoes that came with Zach's meatloaf and I thought it was pretty bland. The meatloaf itself was good. Our service that day was okay. We got put at a table near a really rowdy crowd and since it looked like the staff wasn't going to ask that table to quiet down, we asked to be moved to a quieter area to which we had to wait 10 minutes for that. Besides that and waiting a long time for the meatballs, service was minimal. Would I personally return....I'm 50/50 but leaning towards no...I will say though that I guess it's a good thing that what I experienced at the other Jack's is consistent with the San Mateo location as well. read more
Stoped by today for the first time since moving here 6 years ago. It's been on the list for a while. We ordered the zucchini cakes to start- delicious! chicken skewers - perfection! That chicken was so tender and so flavorful and so much on my plate! Box please! Last but not least the tutto mare - seafood in it was amazing, a little too much pasta but the sauce and dish as a whole was really good. Mocktails were fabulous. It was busy but you were well taken care of. Nice and comfortable atmosphere. Warm and cozy spot for a quick dinner. read more

Great service, seated only after 10 min of waiting on a Sunday late morning. The waiter was friendly and accommodating. The burger and spinach artichoke benedict was solid! The only "bad" thing was that the burger patty didn't actually fill up the space of the sourdough bread slices. Also, the garlic fries weren't crispy, but still tasted good. The meat was cooked very well and had very good flavor. read more

Yes! They have a pretty nice enclosed patio that can accommodate a larger group. It's also a lot quieter out there. Plus, they have big screen TVs on the patio if that interests you.
