I would have assumed because this is a local coffee company that there would have been more integrity when it came to the coffee drinks. I have yet to meet a barista at Jackson Coffee Co who can properly steam milk for a latte. The milk is usually typically just heated up, and often over temperature. As a person who worked as a barista for sometime I find this incredibly irritating. Beyond that, the quality of products used isn't impressive. The baked goods and snacks provided are generic processed foods from major companies. Everything about this coffee shop screams fast food coffee, and the term "locally owned" only seems to make this irony worse. I love give money and business to local owners, and have a soft spot in my heart for coffee house culture. That said, Jackson Coffee Company has consistently proved to me why I still buy Starbucks. read more

Good place to #workshift for a morning or an afternoon, but it gets a little chilly in the winter. Jackson Coffee Company, or "JCO", is a pretty decent place to sit down with your laptop for a couple hours and hammer out some emails. There is plenty of seating upstairs, lots of plugs, decent, non-distracting music, and even has a meeting room that can be booked for ad hoc get togethers with your co workers! Additionally, because of its location downtown, there are both breakfast and lunch options nearby, allowing you to grab a bite before or after your coffee. Oh! The coffee! The coffee is roasted directly on-premesis, and the roaster is directly on your left as you enter the main floor. It is an amazing smell, and interesting to look at (visit the website for pics). I've only ever had the Americano, but I can tell you that it is above average with a slightly smokey or woodsy tone. Breakfast pastries are available, but tend to be rather bland and unremarkable. The employees are generally friendly, but not quite as quick as their "fast-food-like" counterparts in franchised companies. That's ok - I like a little extra care and attention to my drink. The bathroom (upstairs) is generally clean, and although poorly lit, has interesting decoration choices. I would normally give this business 5 stars, but the upstairs is always cold in the fall/winter, and the breakfast pastries never fail to disappoint. read more

Yesterday I stopped into this coffee shop to send some emails in between som appointments. It was a cute place to grab coffee. They do make smoothies but only have pastries for food options. The gals at the counter were nice. The coffee was standard drip that they kept in in the push jugs. The upstairs looks like it is set up to have bands in there. The issue I had is when I got up there to work it was so warm. I'm a cold body so me saying I was too warm is usually an issue. There are other options I'll probably try in jackson. It's worth giving a shot if you're looking to hang out with a young crowd. I saw a young couple playing video games and they were meeting more people there to play. read more

The fresh roasted coffee is so memorable you will be back guaranteed, the atmosphere is quiet and cool upstairs, not enough good things to say about them! By far the best coffee in the area and the service is great. Great atmosphere in there, the upstairs is a great spot to just hang out or to get some work done. I would recommend trying the iced Americano or the white chocolate caramel latte with marshmallow. read more

I have been here several times and this location is in a neat building and also has loft/meeting space upstairs. The coffee, however, is not great in my opinion. It is weak and lacks that bold 'coffee' flavor. Same is true of the espresso. My last visit I entered and approached the counter as the employee was taking the coffee order for the only other person in the cafe. While she was still taking that order (and struggling to get it right) two more people came in after me at different times. One stands to my left and second person entering stands to my right side (it was not clear where to stand for the line). After she finally completed first customers order, the employee then looks directly at the last person who came in (to my right) and asks what they would like - not even acknowledging that I have been waiting the whole time (5 mins) or the other person who came in after me. This may happen a lot if they don't indicate where to stand or where the line forms, so it is up to the employee to know, and if they are not sure just ask US! Say "I can help who is next" or "I am not sure who is next - is it you or the person next to you?". Customers are 99% honest and will get it straight for you - we understand if you were helping another customer and missed who walked in and when. Most importantly, we appreciate that you WANT to get it right. I looked at the other person standing next to me and we both just laughed! Perhaps this employee was having a tough day, possibly she was doing all she could just to get through it, that's the part of the customer experience we never know about. I was not mad (and not in a rush) so waiting a little longer would not have been an issue. What I no longer did have at this point was the confidence that this employee would get my drink order correct (I'm pickly), so I left. Two stars for location/local business, but I could not give any more stars based on the coffee and the service. read more

I came to Jackson heading to the Antique shop, passed this place, so had to stop in for a cup of coffee. The two young ladies behind the counter were so friendly they both greeted me. I ordered a Milky Way latte. It was delicious! Not to sweet, not bitter at all. The coffee they used was their house espresso. It's very full bodied,. They made me the perfect latte! They even have a punch card here. I love this place! I will be visiting here every time I come to Jackson. read more

This is a tough review, the coffee is okay but better than anything else in town I have had, just based on that they would get two stars. But the building is way cool and they roast their own beans which is cool. They do know what some of the better coffee drinks are so that is nice. But the coffee is just okay, nothing like what I am fond of. This is probably because they are not taking enough care in the roasting process. But I am thoroughly enjoying my morning here. read more

Jackson coffee company's coffee is touted to be special because they roast it themselves. Fresher doesn't always mean better. Often times, the coffee is well over roasted than most, and has a smokier flavor than I like. However, that is a personal taste issue, and changes from person to person. That being said, a lot of stuff they offer is really quite good, and the ambiance In the mechanic street location is wonderful, and inspiring to a lot of people. It is a staple in the Jackson community, and I hope they expand, and improve in the future. As for anyone reading, go ahead and give this place a try. Nice little coffee shop in downtown Jackson. I had the large toffee nut skinny, no whip. It was very tasty. The baristas were nice and the coffee was delicious. Jackson Coffee Company is a very quaint cafe just a block from the heart of downtown. There are a couple of tables and some bar stools downstairs and a wide open area with benches and couches upstairs. There is also a setup for live entertainment that one would usually find in a cafe; light music, spoken word, etc. I drink coffee a few times a week, sometimes I'll go a few weeks without any. By my tastes, the coffee is tasty and fresh. The baked good that I purchased was fresh and rich with flavor. The service was prompt and warm and it seems like the staff likes working there. There is wi-fi access, with a purchase, and the atmosphere provided a great place for me to get some work done, relax and look out at the town. There was a nice flow of people in and out and a decent sized crowd also using the space to share conversation, work and relax. I would visit here again when in town. read more

Plenty of times I've gotten lost in a good book upstairs over a cup of coffee and their baked goods (also awesome) or gotten to finish last minute homework with their accessible wifi. Outstanding in every way! I disagree with any of the negative comments. The owner and his staff offer a savvy, upscale feeling to downtown Jackson. The decor is extremely inviting, the restroom is spotless; yes the upstairs can be a bit cool, but there is a fireplace, which if it isn't turned on, you may ask them to do so. I think we need to support local businesses instead of being so critical. I was really surprised by the one comment about not having enough space on the main level, yet admitted she had not gone up stairs- what? Support your local businesses and keep your hometown alive, or you will have row after row of vacant storefronts, crime moving in rapidly, etc... I really want to like this place. It has a cozy, comfy atmosphere, it's conveniently located, and I always want to support local businesses. But the coffee is so terrible! It has a consistently burnt taste. McDonald's coffee is better than this, I am sorry to say. The baked goods are also not very good, they usually taste stale, with a pre-packaged type taste. One other odd thing about this business is the upstairs bathroom. The lighting is extremely dim, there's only a small neon art piece for light, and that, coupled with a surprise step into the bathroom makes it a little unsafe. If at least the coffee was better, I would happily excuse the other issues. read more
