We had Dr Amanda and she practices a low stress handling with my dog focusing on positive reinforcement and ignoring his bad behavior- needless to say the vet visit went very well. This is exactly what I am looking for in a vet. She talked with me about a behavior issue I needed guidance on and was very supportive. Because of how Dr Amanda and her staff handled my dog, I felt a high level of trust for the care here. I would never take another pet here. Dr Amanda should not be allowed to care for animals. She is heartless and just wants the interaction finished. She has misdiagnosed two of my pets and has caused life long issues that would have been prevented if diagnosed correctly. Instead she just suggested euthanasia. She should not be a doctor. The clinic is fine for normal checkups but they made my normally calm service dog anxious. So I went to different vet. My dog needed emergency surgery for issue that was downplayed by JHVC. Dog would have lost a leg if I hadn't followed my instinct about this vet's competency. read more

Highly recommend this vet clinic. We moved to Winlock in 2023. This is the 3rd vet we've been to and are very happy with them. The staff is friendly, professional, and caring. Our dog has been through a lot in his short life and 2 of those medical issues we've had to deal with since our move here. He developed a bone infection and had to have a toe removed. He's also had knee surgery. The surgeries were done by Blue Pearl (also highly recommend). Everything else leading up to and following those surgeries was taken care of by Jackson Hwy. read more

We have been going to Jackson hwy since we moved up here 6 years ago. In the beginning it was wonderful!!! Dr. Marker was an exceptional vet. He would get down on the floor to visit with our dogs and make them feel comfortable with being with him and at the vet in general. Dr. Amanda took over and we really like her but the last two appointments we had Dr. Pham. No "bedside" manner. She is very abrupt and doesn't greet you at all. She gave my dogs their shots and was pretty rough with them and then just walked out. I know she is probably a great vet on paper but when it comes to her patients and their parents she needs some training in being friendly. It is always stressful for the patients and the parents at the vets office so a little kindness would go a long way on her part. This last time we were there she didn't even bother to come to the room. All in all we really am glad we have a great just right around the corner and will continue to take our doggies there but Dr. Amanda should really give her new vet Dr. Pham a customer service class. read more

We got kicked out! I have been going there for years and they had worked with my other cats. But recently on Valentine's Day 2023, When I took Missy for spaying, they were obligating Missy to take a heavy metal (Mercury) Rabies shot. There are other Rabies shots without Mercury added. I had to refuse the Mercury shot! They refused to work on Missy because of the "safety of their personnel." *** After all these years -- they kicked us out the door! I just could not let anyone poison my kitty when there are other choices of shots that are not so dangerous. I was able to get the vac without Mercury somewhere else. I waited 2 months for that appointment! Now I have the Rabies certificate, but I have to start over with another vet. read more

I called the vet nearest to me and they just said we are 3 weeks out on our appointments., sorry. Well that's great but what do I do about my dog? So I called Jackson Hwy Veterinary Clinic which is the next closest. They said no problem. If you can just bring your dog by so we can weigh him for proper dosage we will send you home with a mega wormer! That's service! We swung by and were in and out in less than 20 minutes. I've been going to Doc Marker since before he moved into the big new clinic at Mary's Corner. I trust him. I trust his staff. He's had some great vets working for him. He's pretty up to date on new treatments, and isn't afraid to recommend things off the herbal shelf if they help. He kept my favorite cat going with liver issues for years with the assistance of milk thistle. I like that he doesn't pander or pad problems. He just lays it out as he sees it and gives you the knowledge to make informed decisions. Doctor Amanda has also become one of my favorites. I have tough dogs to work on (Chow chows) and she gets down at their level and goes at their pace to get their issues addressed without stressing them out and making them feel uncomfortable. Covid has been hard on all of us. Its been really terrible getting appointments and truth be told I feel lucky our evil Lord High Governor has even allowed Vet Clinics to keep operating. I don't know what the heck we'd do without JHV being here for us. I mentioned my chows, but the truth is I have my cats in way more than the dogs. The cats have several ongoing conditions that require lifetime treatments... and I'm always surprised that Doctor Amanda has looked up new info or has new recommendations for things for me to try to keep my cats healthy. She's just... there's no words to describe how much she cares about animals and how much the animals she works on trusts her. Marker is the same way though. And you know what? I feel like the long time staffers like Debbie are all but family in name. I even like the assortment of Vet Techs they have. Oh... and Donna, Doc Marker's wife? She's a fantastic artist and decorator. She's put little artistic touches in each exam room in the form of antiques and art prints. She even has a few paintings that are extraordinary of her own hanging here and there. When she visits the clinic, she always greets the clients and checks in on everyone to see how they are doing. I intentionally left Mark Giffey's practice in Chehalis back in 2016 to come to JHVC directly because of him. The other vets at his practice were great but I could never get into them because they were busy and he was the only one with availability (that should have been a red flag!) I cannot believe that JHVC would hire him to have him do their surgeries! He is known for inadequate pain control and outdated medicine. I am shocked and saddened that they thought he would be an asset to this practice. When Giffey retired, the community celebrated. Why must he continue to practice when he could give two s!$?s about the animals? He was always in it for the money and could care less about the pets. I am highly disappointed in his hiring and to say the least will NOT be allowing him to touch any of my animals. JHVC you will only hurt your reputation and patients with Mark Giffey there. read more

The one star does not apply to the front desk workers because they were lovey. First time visit and saw Dr. Chi Pham but didn't even know that until we asked the front desk since she walked in without introducing herself. Took my kitten here for a check up and was instantly greeted with a bad taste in my mouth when I entered the exam room. Both the tech we saw and Dr. Pham weren't very welcoming and unnecessarily took our kitten to the back room so we were left wondering how they were treating him. Ended up paying quite a bit of money just for them to check his heart rate, tell me to vaccinate him with multiple unnecessary vaccines, and put him in an employee only room. Extremely disappointed with my visit and did not appreciate the unwelcoming atmosphere, the whole experience just felt very off. Highly don't recommend this vet office, never coming back. read more

I called today to see if I could buy a pill to give to my dog to take out the quills in her face and mouth. The gal asked me if I had my dog in there before and I said no because my vet has retired. She told me the earliest appt. would be in September. I said that is a long time to have quills in my dog's face. She said I am sorry that was the best they could do. How sad! I love these guys. The staff is helpful, friendly and it's obvious everyone there loves animals. Dr. Marker has been caring for my Great Danes for several years. He understands the needs of a big dog and they treat my babies with the compassion. If the dog needs a specialist they refer me out and have been excellent in accommodating my needs when traveling outside the U.S. with my dogs. The clinic is always clean and there is plenty of room for my big kids which hasn't been the case at other offices. ​I was stunned yesterday when my cat and I were kicked to the curb because I refuse to let them inoculate her with a rabies injection . She's 16 years old and has chronic kidney disease and I truly believe that the shot would have been detrimental to her . I know it's a state law but there are exemptions and she didn't even offer us one! My cat never bites and is a fraidy cat, and has never bitten anyone in her life ! She's an indoor cat never goes outside except to go to the vet and hides when people come . It was like this new doctor was more concerned about themselves than they were about the quality of care of my animal . When this practice was owned by Dr marker it was a pleasant place but that doesn't apply any longer . I was shocked when she said that we either comply or we can no longer be clients . They want you to support their business financially all years long but when they are open on Saturday and u call to get your injured pet in they tell you to go to Vancouver or another emergency clinic?! What's the point in establishing a relationship with a veterinarian if in an emergency you have to take your scared, bleeding pet to a stranger. The only veterinarian that was caring & compassionate was the owner Dr.Dale Marker, however I only got to see him twice as he was never available for appointments. I think he's trying to retire unfortunately Dr.Amanda has a terrible pet side manner and doesn't listen to the client! So disappointed. It's sad & disheartening your regular veterinarian tells you to drive 2 hours for the service you have been paying them for all year long that's zero empathy or compassion and when I told them so their response was drive safe. We just took our little dog here . We got there 40 minutes before they closed and they refused to see her. Now granted they thought it was not an emergency but I told them she was bleeding all over the place and had been for over 20 minutes. I clipped her nail too short. My fault granted but you go to a vet and they won't help you?? Just think they should want to help in an emergency no matter what; especially if they don't close for 40 minutes. Horrible customer service. So glad I dont have to use these guys. We were camping and this was the closest vet to me. They take care of each pet as if they're their own, the calm the pet down, they are reasonable, rational, knowledgeable, open, and do their best to suit you & your pets needs. When our cat had a birthing problem & had to be brought to an emergency vet on Christmas Day, Dr. Marker Emailed is to check in with the cat the same day! Over the last couple of years our family's moved a ton, and in turn have been to a half a dozen different veterinary clinics with our late springer spaniel(zoe).. some so-so, some terrible, and some good ones. The staff is amazing. The doctors are greaT. In the later years of zoes life they took into account her health and well being. One doctor(can't remember his name gave us three great tips on when his persoNal view is on putting pups down which I in turn spread to other owners). When it was time to put her down the whole staff was wonderFul and understanding of our family needs. We have since gotten a new springer which we continue to take there and will continue to. I'm not sure how many doctors are on staff there. We've dealt with three I believe, all amazing caring and easy to talk to about your questions. I called the morning of the appointment,asked what I could expect to pay, was quoted $60. I brought in my dog, vaccination & wellness check. The vet & tech played on the floor with my dog, gave him treats, checked his heart , gave him three shots. The vet did not check his teeth, ears, eyes, skin, palpitate his belly, check his feet or glands. I was then charged $95,( $45 for the "exam"). Not impressed. Not returning. read more

This is one of the very best veterinary hospitals I've ever frequented. The staff is terrific, sharp, knowledgeable, gentle with my eclectic fur family, and friendly. Recently we had to bring our 17-year-old yellow lab in to be put down. We were very very very sad. We had some specific requests regarding the circumstances of our beloved girl's passing, and without a blink the hospital staff accomodated our every wish - thereby providing a completely peaceful and comfortable passing for our beloved companion and family member, Abbey. I love this place, I drive almost an hour out of the way just to come here for my cat, Iris. I've been to a few vets that are closer to where I live (Castle Rock) and I didnt feel like they actually cared about the animals or owners anywhere near as much as the this place does. October 29, 2012 - While in the midst of actively grieving the loss of my puppy "Hazzard", I would like to offer the following to consumers: ASK MORE QUESTIONS and KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN a CLINIC and a VETERINARY HOSPITAL. My puppy is dead because I failed to advocate for him. While suffering from a suspected gastrointestinal blockage, we were offered to keep the pup overnight for "OBSERVATION." The doctor revealed that Hazzard was left alone at 9:30 PM Friday evening and discovered dead at 7:30AM Saturday morning. There was no courtesy call to inform us of his progress, or that he would be left unattended the remainder of the night. I am now filled with the torment of knowing he died ALONE and UNATTENDED for TEN plus hours while I was under the impression he was being actively "OBSERVED." DVM's and assistants: I plead with you to inform your patients' owners of what "OVERNIGHT OBSERVATION" really means. Informed consent could make the difference between unimaginable grief and a nice 'thank you' card and 5-star review for your business.
