I have no complaint about the medical care. All the vets I have seen over the years have been caring & helpful. My problem is that I called the office to get a monthly pain shot for my cat ( which I got) but I also said I'd like to discuss a problem with the vet. To me that meant I wanted to schedule an appointment with the vet, but to the receptionist this apparently wasn't clear & when I got there I didn't have a vet appointment. After driving 25 miles to get there this was annoying. So if you want an appointment you need to use precise language " I want to make an appointment with the vet" I think I will take my cat somewhere else where they listen. read more

I have been taking my kitties here for the past year and I have been very grateful for their professional and caring treatment of my little ones. Even though this office is about 40 minutes from my house, I still find it to be worth the drive for the care and expertise they offer. It is a nice office with several different veterinarians who treat both small and large animals. The office itself is large and spacious with up to date technology, clean and sweetly decorated exam rooms, and attentive staff. They offer a large range of services for competitive prices and are helpful in explaining treatment recommendations. I have seen several of their veterinarians and find them all to be great to work with. Dr. Iverson does well with my cranky kitty who can get very aggressive in vet visits and both Dr. Ritter and Dr. Howard have treated my little old lady and my ginger kitty. My ginger kitty has been in for several dental visits and the staff and doctors always take the best care of him. Dr. Ritter was the one who broke the sad news to me about it being time to say goodbye to my old lady kitty but she did it in the most compassionate and empathetic way possible. I am pleased that I have found an office that I can trust with the care of my little ones and that makes me feel comfortable as well. read more

My horse came in for a laceration after hours, i had already flushed and probed the wound as well as facetimed my regular veterinarian to look at it and advise. Cascade west was the closest clinic and now I had wished I had continued on to Olympia. While the vet on call had a wonderful bedside manner, she was clearly inexperienced and my horse ended up suffering from it. She sedated my horse in the stocks but then proceeded to try to do a laceration repair on a hind leg laceration in them. This is not only incredibly awkward, but dangerous for all parties involved should you need to get out of the way quick with all the bars. Case in point, she was blocking my mare with lidocaine and injected it into a vessel and my mare collapsed in the stock and thrashed around so much she now has lacerations/abrasions on all of her legs and her head and is in worse shape then she came in. By that point the vet was too nervous to lidocaine again and couldnt stitch mare cause she hadnt blocked her completely. So she wrapped her leg and sent me home. The wrap didnt even last the trailer ride home. I ended up rewrapping her leg in my garage. In all of my years working large and small animal emergency i have never seen a vet put a horse in stocks for stitches on a leg or inject a vessel with lidocaine. I contacted the office manager and spoke with her about my situation. She was nice, but they claim they already discounted my bill when it was sent, by not charging me for saline for the wound flush or the bandage.. the 10mls of saline that was used you were going to charge in addition to the the wound flush fee? Whats that fee even cover then? The vet holding the needle? And why on earth should i need grateful to not be charged a crappy bandage job? The vet quoted me a bill between 500-600 before i left. I was sent a bill for 567.71... and youre telling me it would have been $900 w/o these discounts.. so the vet was off by $400 in her estimate before i expressed my concerns ? $572.71 for a wound flush and banamine and more injuries than my horse came in with. I even had my own antibiotics at home so the bill didnt include those either.. Really nice. This is a futurity horse who now will take even longer to come back thanks to inexperience and cascade west didnt even have the decency to try to make things right. Pretty crummy read more

If you missed three appointments, no call no-show. They will no longer let you go there anymore. My cat venom was fixed by them and then two years later his bladder started backing up into him and he passed away. I have a friend that had a cat that had the same problem. I'm not sure if she had the same vet. I need to ask her. It's not like I owe them money so I don't appreciate being discontinued like we're trash. There's plenty of other vets around though. read more

Have been using CWVH for the care of my canines since 2012. While the care provided has always been welcomed and affordable, some recent changes (late 2017) have severely altered my perception of HOW let alone WHO is running the place. Four months ago, the medication for our most recent addition (Pit-bull Terrier) jumped from $20 per dose to $60. When I inquired of the increase, I was told "the person responsible wasn't doing the job correctly", which explained why I had been sold expired medication. Subsequently, I called Feb 22 for a refill and upon picking it up Feb 23, the price increased over $40 and when the "Office Manager" was questioned; she was less than courteous and wouldn't honor the price quoted the day before. As a disabled Veteran on fixed income, this kind of unexpected increase doesn't sit well, especially when they change the price OVERNIGHT! If ALL YOU NEED IS CARE: Great place! All the Vets are knowledgeable and helpful but, if any of your pets require medications, I HIGHLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO FIND AN ALTERNATE SOURCE! -smh disappointed read more

The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is unfortunate though that as an established patient it is nearly impossible to get an emergency visit for a pet who is vomiting not eating or drinking. Their suggestion is to go to an after hours clinic. This is frustrating since we have been patients for several years. There needs to be time blocked for these types of situations. read more

Their vets and support staff are great. The vets take the time to discuss in detail what is going on with my animal whether the problem is major or minor. They are also great with taking a middle line approach in that they offer some additional testing but recognize a wait and see approach is perfectly acceptable too. I use them for my horse, goats, dogs and cats. I had used other vets in the area but Cascade West offers the best care. read more

I originally gave a one star review. Shortly after this review and me contacting the clinic personally they called and were very nice. They were able to get my mom's dog in the next day at 10:15 am. They have new staff that didn't realize how good of patients my mom's dogs have been over the years, So I upped it to a 3 star. My mother has taken her mini dachshunds here for years. Has spent thousands of dollars on their care. Both of these dogs are now elderly the female is 13 years old and has been very ill. Today on their walk another dog attacked her dog leaving a puncture wound on her lower ear. My mother was hysterical called to see if they could look at Frankie (this was during business hours) She was told no, they are booked !!She would need to drive her dog to the Olympia emergency clinic. She asked if they could see her tomorrow, again same answer. This clinic is more than willing to take her money at their convienence but when she really needs them she is told to go elsewhere. My mother is 75 and has had 3 brain surgeries and a stroke, she is unable to drive to Olympia. This place should be ashamed of themselves. If you want a vet clinic that actually cares about your animals and not just taking your money as scheduled I would suggest finding some other clinic. read more

I've been bringing my dog here for several months now for chiropractic care by Dr. Ruminski. Every visit has been on time, and Dr. Ruminski is excellent with Cocoa. With a combo of meds and manipulation, Cocoa is feeling better than he has in a long time. The staff is wonderful, the office area and exam rooms are always clean and inviting. My husband and I took our dogs on a camping trip this last weekend and our dog injured his leg on the beach badly. We were frantic trying to get him in somewhere because he desperately needed stiches. After calling 20+ emergency clinics and getting turned away because they were at capacity we began to panic and did not know what to do. Long story short we ended up running in to Tara one of the vet tech's at Cascade West in a parking lot after she saw us attempting to bandage our dogs leg because we had no other option. Tara called Dr. Duda and they both went back to the clinic (this was after hours) to give our baby boy stiches. These two ladies are angels and we will be forever thankful!! Have used this vet for routine check ups/shots. Have had our dogs nails clipped about 6-7 times. Only 1 time nails all short and good, Mostly many were not clipped at all or left very long after clipping. I see a pattern here. $ grab at it's most obvious. Then they try to push products that you do not need at their price. I am looking elsewhere. read more

I started with Dr Chris Affeldt who came to our home to treat our horses and after that a cat adopted us and we started taking her to Cascade Wests beautiful Facility! We bought a dog and she and all our families dogs go to this vet. I have personally seen Dr. Wild and my small dogs favorite Dr. Ashley Ritter. They are both really superb vets! I know I can call them anytime and they will be there for my pets! Amy their receptionist is sooo helpful when we needed paperwork help for our dog to go with us to Hawaii...she really goes the extra mile. I highly recommend them to everyone..... read more

I went in on an emergency visit for my cocker spaniel. Professional staff, polite and efficient. Clean waiting area and nice landscaping (looks new). Loved Dr. Wild, she was compassionate and very attentive to the needs of my pet. I'll be moving back into the area soon and I'm look forward to using these guys for my furry family members needs. I will never go to cascade again. After my dog was in a horrible fight and needed emergent care after hours, I received a call back from Dr Humphrey. He seemed concerned and willing at first, but then the talk of money came up and he was looking up my account where I have a current balance for an emergency large animal barn visit from march but a positive history of making payment arrangements. He let me know that I would have to pay $500 up front in order for him to help my dog. My current balance is $300ish.. When I told him that I could pay up the balance, and could pay for this evenings dog visit out of my next paycheck this next Friday, he told me no. I asked if he was more concerned with money then the well being of animals, he LAUGHED AT ME and told me we were done talking. I brought up the history of having large animal services done in the past and paying the bill a few days later... he let me know that he would see my animal tonight but she would have to stay and I would have to take the rest up with the girls in the office on Monday and they wouldn't release my dog until the bill was paid in full... which would mean my dog would have to stay til Friday and my bill would be catastrophic. I said 'Thank you for being an upstanding veterinarian in our community! You'll never get a call from me again... and he again chuckled. read more

We used another vet in town for 15 years, but we moved to Oregon for 4 years. We recently moved back to town and had an emergency with our little terrier. He was torn up pretty bad by a large dog. I called our old vet and was told that they couldn't take him till the next day and there would be a $450.00 minimum charge for wound care. He was bleeding badly so I called Cascade West. They took him in immediately and the total bill with meds to take home was only $165.00. Dr. Ritter is now our regular vet and we and our two dogs love her. She is caring and competent. read more

We had a foster cat that had to be brought in for emergency care this past weekend. None of us had ever been to Cascade West, but our program's regular vet and backup were unavailable. The staff made room for this very sick animal to be seen, and Dr. Ashley Ritter was so kind that it was obvious that she thought of him not as 'just one more stray' but in much the same way she would any beloved pet with a longtime owner. Dr. Ritter was able to outline the medical situation for us and to spell out the uncertainties in deciding on care. She offered options and costs that helped us balance concerns about resources against the likelihood of benefit to our animal and gave us plenty of time to process the information. She provided the support needed for us to make the best decisions we could in a difficult situation, and we felt sure sure of her trustworthiness. Her excellent care of both animal and humans made a bad situation considerably better. We'll always be grateful. read more

I have been going for years to Cascade & I love them. They are always compassionate with your 4 legged kids. I trust them to take care of my babies. I lost a dog several yrs ago at the hands of another local vet & by the time I took her to Cascade, it was too late. If that other vet would have done a simple blood test, I would have been able to enjoy her more years. When I brought her to Cascade, they knew right away what was wrong, but wanted to verify it with the blood test. She passed away due to a disease that could've been taken care of without getting to the point of my poor Mollie suffering. :'( Also, yrs later, my other dog had gotten a hold of a box of Chocolate "Ding Dongs". The vet Dr.Ridder met me for an emergency visit. She is amazing, she stayed with me, comforted me & took care of my dog until she was better & I could take her home. Then when she was 15 & it was time to say good bye, Dr.Iverson was awesome with giving us all we needed to say good bye. They are the only place I will take my animals I have had so many good experience's there, I couldn't list them all. They are amazing vets!! These are the best in Lewis County :-) read more

I think it's really sad when a vet is not taking new patients and you have a sick family member. I am new to the area and had read previous reviews , so when my little Bella seamed sick I tried calling to see if they took walk ins or just appt. they said apps only. So I asked when the earliest I could get in and was advised they were not taking new patients. How is this okay? I have never heard of that with a vet. So if you have a sick pet too bad, I guess you need to wait for a regular patient to pass or leave the area for a slot?. Very disappointing, I will make the drive to Timberland Vet who were there for me and my little girl. shame on you Cascade for turning your back on a sick animal. read more

Cascade is the best vet clinic I have ever dealt with. They seem to be more about the customer than the money. I have called multiple times and they have given advice over the phone, rather then have us come in. Just yesterday, my dog was sting or bite by something and the vet told us to use Benadryl. The pills worked and we were not pressured to come in for something so simple. My dog woke up completely fine the next day and we were able to cancel our appointment we had made, just in case. read more

Their website says they offer emergency service, which seems to be false advertising. You call, they don't respond. I had to call three times before the vet on call could be bothered to call me. I have been using this clinic for three years for horses, dogs, and cats. All of the vets and support staff are highly knowledgeable and compassionate. Currently they are treating my cat for kidney failure (Dr. Iverson has the case). It is tough dealing with this health issue, but I am very fortunate, the cat receives outstanding care. The vets, techs, assistants, and admin support all work together effectively to provide a welcoming and healing environment. And of considerable merit, they are also very sensitive to my needs in coming to terms with the situation. So big thank yous to Drs.
