Due to multiple health issues a long major surgery with months of recovery was of concern at best At this time. After meeting with Dr Graham I felt at ease after his thorough examination and his level of knowledge in the field. His bedside manners are extraordinary. We decided to address one issue that would impact the length of surgery and recovery time minimally while hopefully dealing with my present symptoms and discomfort. Leaving other medical needs for a latter day if need be. His office staff were most pleasant and seemed very organized. I would strongly recommend this practice.

Dr Chandler understands that his patients are in actual pain and need pain medicine on a day-to-day basis to have any quality of life. Going to this office on CR - 210 has helped me be able to work a job. Before meeting Dr. Cartwright, I thought I thought I was going to have to file a Social Security Disability claim because work no longer seems like a possibility. With all honestly, Dr Joseph Adam Cartright has not only provided me with a high level of quality of life that allows me to travel on vacation with my wife and 3 teenage sons but allows me to enjoy my life at times when in the past I only experianced pain without joy during the same situations. If you are in real pain in the St. Johns area, please contact this office to schedule an appointment. It may be life changing in a good way!!!

On the first visit he sat me down and we talked about where the pain was and what my options were for getting me back to my old self. He took the time to show me my MRIs, explain what he saw and made sure that I understood. He recommended injections to see if that was where the pain was coming from and sure enough, 1 injection on both sides of my hips and 2 months later, the pain returned. Next option was either more injections and nerve ablation OR SI joint fusion. We discussed in depth the pros and cons with each and we decided on the fusion surgery. In Feb 2021 he did my right SI joint and the band of pain that stretched around my hips was gone even though I had months of recovery ahead of me. My 1st month post-op in Mar 2021 went well. He answered all my questions and got me set up for physical therapy for 6 weeks. Unfortunately physical therapy wasn't enough and I needed a Lumbar Microdiscectomy, done Sept 2021. My back feels a lot better but we will have to wait to see if it gets close to 100% recovered. Fast forward to 2023 and I'm still having pain. I did try to go back to Dr.Guiot but his practice as been bought out and they only handle injury claims now. That sucks however I wish them the best.

In Febuary my neck became infected, he went back in and cleaned it out and closed it back up. He put a picc line in for antibiotics which I broke out in blisters. So they discontinued that. The infection never cleared up. He sent me to a wound specialist, I had a wound vac ,and I dealt with an open pus wound from feb till sept he finally was convinced it was time to do something about it. So Back in i went and he took all the hardware out and stitched me back up. On my last visit with him I told him my fingers were going into atrophy and the back of my neck was sinking in. He said there was nothing more he could do for me. I ended up going to someone else who advised me i did need more surgery, including putting the hardware back in and call in a plastic surgeon and he needed to go further up as the mri showed. I had to undergo a 6 hr surgery, and everything is healing fine with no infection.

Update: I am still…read moredealing with Restless Leg Syndrome that was set off after Dr. Netzel thought he could fool me into believing that the catheter coming from my pump was located in the wrong place. My new doctor had me get an updated MRI, something Dr. Netzel never bothered to do. Had he, he would have found out that the Degenerative Disc Disease has progressed further down my back and has now destroyed the disk between L5 and S1. And there's further disk failing in my neck. Dr. Netzel came off as a cocky pain specialist that wasn't interested in listening to anything the patient had to say. His ego needs to be seriously deflated. Having the total of "Doctor" doesn't make you always right. I'm aware that the overall purpose of the surgery he wanted to do is to reduce the amount of morphine I required to get pain relief. The problem is, WHY WOULD I POSSIBLY CARE, especially when the damage I suffered is permanent, so the morphine will be required throughout my entire lifetime. Thus, I don't care if I'm addicted to morphine or not. It's a moot point for me. I'm not willing to risk having an infection that could cause paralysis or death just to save a couple of grams of morphine. The potential for further complications is just far too great. I'll gladly take the surgery when it's actually essential. This most definitely isn't essential. It's much more about feeding a doctor's ego and wallet from my insurance company than actually doing something beneficial for me. Don't assume that just because someone has the total of "Doctor" that they're actually working for your best interest. Do your own research. There's a ton of information readily available on the internet. Because ultimately, YOU ARE THE FINAL AUTHORITY WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR HEALTH. The doctor will certainly make suggestions to you, and often times demands, but the final decision is your's. I strongly encourage you to steer well clear of Doctor Netzel. There's plenty of good pain doctors around that you shouldn't have to settle for the first one your insurance company sends you.
