A place I've been wanting to go to and got the chance to since I got an oil change near by. Divier of a bar that had some of its regulars in at about 4:15pm on this Tuesday afternoon. It's gots a couple pool tables in back area with tables to sit and hang as well and some seating at the bar and a few tables up front. There's a couple small bathrooms, which were clean. I had a couple beers, a Stella (tasted off) and an anti hero, got a bacon burger and onion rings. The burger is good and so are the onion rings, are they the best I've ever had? No, but very good for the value, burger is a decent size with good quality bacon and nice grilled onions with the basics, choice of cheese. The service was fine, the food was better, front bar is not the biggest and probably fills up fast. I'd go again. read more

Delicious burger. It's huge and filling. We only ate half of the burger. The burger had grilled onions and pickles. We did a carry out so the mushrooms and fries were soggy. Mushrooms were ok but the fries better fresh. The burger was cooked medium but they do not ask how you want it cooked. Normally they ask how you would like it cooked. Mine was cooked medium but my bf's was more medium rare. But not too bad. Next time we will make sure when we have burgers to ask for well done. Now the cost. The cost for the food is acceptable but they nickel and dime you. There's a service fee of $1.50 and a container fee for $.25/ea. The containers are styrofoam. The fries and mushrooms come in containers. There is also a cc fee so we paid cash. Other than the additional charges, the food is good. Next time we will try dine in. read more

I love this little spot. Good food and drinks. The staff are so nice, always have a friendly conversation when I sit at the bar. When I sit at the booth, they always ask if I'm good and would I like anything else. I love the service when they are attentive to their patrons. I had this humongous burger, and my brother opted to try the fish sandwich. By the way, they have fresh cut fries.... my favorite. I could not eat all of that food in one sitting. It's enough to have leftovers for lunch. The fish sandwich was not that bad, only because I did not favor that type of fish. But all in all I had a good time. The burgers are probably one of the better burgers you will find and the make fresh fries too. The burger had grilled onions and bacon!!! However, like normal with takeout, the fries were a little soggy from the condensation and the burger was very soggy from the condensation and the burger juices. I've been wanting to come here for a while now after I've seen how delicious the burgers looked. I finally made my way down here're and they didn't disappoint. The inside has a very old school feel to it with great customer service. There was maybe another table being occupied other than us so it wasn't a busy midweek day for them. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger while my wife ordered the Famous Chicago burger. The burger was very inexpensive at $6.95 while their bacon burger moved up a whopping three dollars. I've never been a fan of e regular bacon on cheese burgers but all the pictures looked so good with bacon so I decided to order it. An additional three dollars for the bacon is a bit much if you ask me and not worth the extra price as the burgers by itself was just fine. I would definitely be returning and would definitely be ordering their famous Chicago burgers without bacon. The burger itself was huge, and charred to perfection. Put some cheese and ketchup on that bad boy and that's all you need! No other gourmet ingredients needed! The fries were also tasty and tasted fresh. None of that frozen cap. Let me start off by saying I want to like this place. One night after dropping off someone @ MDW I told myself "let's try this place for a bacon cheeseburger and wings". So that is what I ordered. The burger and the wings are HUGE! Both very meaty. Your stomach will be filled with either and they cook it to perfection... ...and that's it. No seasoning, no flavor, no salt, no pepper. Nothing. Therefore, both had no taste. The bacon is the best on the south side. Maybe I should try the BLT next time? Why can't I get fries with anything??? I walked in around 4pm on 10/8. After walking in, I had informed the staff that we were going to have a party of 10. Immediately after informing them, they rudely stated that they were not going to serve us because our party was too big. The staff then said that they would make a one time exception but that they were not going to split anyone's tab and we would have to walk to the bar if we wanted any drinks. My friend ran the Chicago marathon so we wanted to celebrate here. Mind you we were going to the back of the back which was completely empty. Seems like these employees just didn't want to work. I would for sure come back if it were closer to where I lived, but it's an hour away via public transit for me. $25 for the chicago burger, fries, and 2 premium draft beers and generous tip. The bartender who was work, although busy, was friendly, polite, and very efficient. The burger doesn't come with fries but the basket for $2.95 would have been enough to share. The burger itself was so big, it was at least a half pound raw patty before cooking. I'll bump my rating up since I've been back 2 more times. The second time I came back with a friend. She ordered a regular burger and I opted for the bacon burger. We also ordered cheese fries. I think the bacon burger is the way to go. She seems to like the cheese fries, I still think they are ok. This time the burgers were bigger and greasier. Service was friendlier also. Just went today again and we split a regular burger and got the cheese fries. I also ordered the zucchini sticks. Burger was good and not as greasy. Zucchini sticks were ok, but use the ranch sauce as the red sauce is some type of Pace Salsa. Service was really good too. Get the bacon burger. The saying is true....bacon makes everything taste better. Since you eating here, I doubt you are counting calories, so why not just indulge and make it worth while. My gf and I came with family Wednesday afternoon to hang out and have some appetizers. Illinois bar and grill has been a burger institution for many years here in the archer heights neighborhood. So that being said if you want to try a BIG delicious 13 oz. burger that u might have trouble finishing in one sitting, this is the place you need to come to. Just ask for the famous Chicago burger. FYI burgers and sandwiches here do not come with fries so that will be extra. Also if you want to add american, cheddar, or swiss cheese to your burger it will be an extra .75 cents, and $2.00 if you want bacon on them. My gf and I shared the chicken strips, which were big but ok to me but she liked them. They do come with fries, bbq sauce and honey mustard sauce. This place does get crowded on game days and on weekend nights as they close late. I do recommend trying one of these BIG delicious burgers for yourself. Oh my gosh! I came here Sunday 3/13 and I am lost of words. I should of taken pictures. But let me tell you, my table was messy as in there was crumbs of someone else's food there, no paper towel on my table and lots of stains of drinks being there prior to me. You would think they use coasters. Second, my friends and I waiting 45 minutes to over an hour for our food. I ordered the BLT sandwich and it was literally just the toasted 2 big pieces of bread bacon, tomato and lettuce on the side. No condiments! Could of at least put mayonnaise. Third, I believe it was the owners son in the kitchen who came up to us stating "they ran out of wings because it is first come first serve and only having one order of wings left" but then the bartender came up to us saying he was lying he just doesn't want to make them. So that took another hour to receive the other half of our food. Fourth, they do not even ID ! How do you know someone is not underage drinking there? I was amazed at how this place is running.
