Let me start off by stating the obvious that Jacobsburg is one sweet park. We (I really as the lovely wife would never get caught dead walking in the freezing cold with snow/ice on the ground) made a few trips to do some quality hiking during the early winter before the snow/ice/muck got out of control. The scenery and trails here are all top notch. You've got over eighteen miles of trails for winter cross country skiing, hiking, horse back riding and mountain biking. The PA Fish and Boat Commission also stocks Bushkill Creek annually with lots of trout and all 937 acres are open for the allowed big game hunting of deer, rabbit and squirrel. From the website: "The Jacobsburg National Historic District encompasses the eastern side of the park property and lies almost entirely within the boundaries of Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center. The district is on the National Register of Historic Places and its story is intertwined throughout the early development and growth of our nation. The history of Jacobsburg focuses on the Henry Family and their small arms industry, which played a key role in the American Industrial Revolution. The first of the Henry gun makers, William Henry I, opened his gun factory in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1750. He became Armorer for the Braddock Campaign of 1755 and for the Forbes Expedition of 1758. William Henry II established a small gun making shop in Christian Springs near Nazareth in 1778. In 1792, Henry II purchased land at Jacobsburg and built a gun manufactory. Henry II acquired the land from the heirs of Jacob Hubler, who in 1740 founded the community from which Jacobsburg draws its name. Only foundations remain at the colonial village of Jacobsburg and at the Henry's Forge historic site. Henry II erected a forge (bloomery) to supply the gun factory with iron to manufacture guns. In 1812, a larger manufactory was built in nearby Boulton in order to accommodate large government firearms contracts. Three succeeding generations of Henrys produced small arms at Boulton until the late 1800s. Competition from arms companies using mass production techniques made the Henry's handcraft technology obsolete. The Henrys not only produced firearms for all of our nation's major conflicts from the Revolutionary War through the Civil War, but they also were the primary suppliers of rifles for the largest American business enterprise of the early 19th century, John Jacob Astor's American Fur Company. The Henry firearm became the most prominent weapon of the western frontier due to its durability, accuracy and relatively low cost. Boulton Historic Site In the southern portion of the Jacobsburg Historic District is the Boulton Historic Site, which is administered by the Jacobsburg Historical Society. Visitors can explore historic buildings and take a self-guided trail that interprets the life of the Henry Family and the Boulton Gun Works. The Henry Homestead, which was built in 1812, houses the Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum. The nearby John Joseph Henry House was built in 1832." Jacobsburg also has a new $5 million dollar education center for school group classes & numerous community classes/functions/offerings that take place during the year. This place is amazing and is well worth a visit year round.

If you truly love nature you definitely should come to Jacobsburg. My friend told me about this place and I decided to come see for myself. I went for a run this morning to explore something different and I was definitely impressed. It was clean and you could see the change of leaves coming in the water was definitely clear and clean. It was a beautiful place to run and explore and get lost in this fine morning.

Connected to many trails (both easy and difficult so it's satisfies hikers and people that want to relax and take it easy) and really nice grounds. Perfect for practically everyone - lots to do. Super family and dog friendly!

The hiking here is fantastic. Mostly easy to moderate. Pretty isolated, but we did make way a few times for people on beautiful horses to pass. Amazing leaf colors. Walked 5 miles and didn't see ONE piece of trash on the whole walk! What?! Very well kept trails and friendly regulars.

I call this place my home away from home. I absolutely adore this place. It's beautiful all throughout the year and with so many different trails to take, you'll never get tired of it. There are charming creeks to play in and different types of wildlife to see. The trails are suitable for hiking, biking, horseback riding, or just family walks. They also have a picnic area for a eating outdoors on a warm day.

THIS PLACE IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE AVOIDED AT ALL COST IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR FAMILY'S HEALTH…read moreAND WELL-BEING. Please read my entire review to see how this place really is. Horseback riding at this stable was the biggest nightmare I have ever experienced The beginning of the ride didn't show how bad the events would turn. For the first 40 minutes of the ride we had a great time until the guide decided to rope off my horse. Her dangerous behavior led to my left knee injury and me almost falling off the horse I rode, who was a 27 year old horse and very well behaved. The horse was very easy to ride and caused no problems to me as a rider. I indicated in a form that that I am an advanced equestrian and I've been around horses my whole life and I'm very comfortable riding horses both in the saddle and all around horses/stables. I got injured in a ride trail because of the guide's lack of imagination. She crushed my knee with her horse's weight twice as she approached me without getting off her horse and her horse walked against my left knee. She did that twice in opposite directions until I screamed from pain and that's when she got off her horse to rope my horse off properly. She took control of my horse with a rope and took the snaffle bit out of horses mouth as exemplified by the attached photo. I told the trail guide that I don't feel safe staying so close to her horse as horses kick and you need to keep your horse at least 4 feet behind another horse. This was also told me before our trail ride at the stable, the prison who gave us our helmets after we paid for the experience told us to stay 4 yards away from each other horses. In her response she told me that she knows better and disregarded my complaint about me feeling not safe after my left knee got crushed by the horse she was riding. The guide has also injured the horse I rode because she run him into a tree cutting severely skin on his head. She led my horse way too close to her horse and there was a tree. Her horse went right and because I couldn't control my horse with no snaffle bit she led my horse left and he hit his head against the tree as he was stuck on that rope that the guide held in her hand. I had no control of the horse I was riding as per attached photo with the snaffle bit taken out by the guide. Her horse went right next to a tree and mine went left. Then my horse jumped and kicked as he was hurt by the guide and I almost fell. If it wasn't for my riding experience I would have been right on the ground trampled by the injured horse. At that point I couldn't believe what kind of irresponsible guide this person was, so I I started recording with my cell phone everything that happened next to avoid another injury after my knee got crushed and the horse I rode got injured by the guide. As we arrived at the stable at the end of the hour trail, I politely reported the incident and my injury to the manager when we came back to the stable and the manager called the police calling me and my wife trespassers (sic!), after we paid $240 for 2 hours of trail horseback riding as we scheduled another hour at 4pm as well. The manager tried to scare us to leave. She called the police to report "trespassing" even though we were guests at the Pocono Manor and paid for resort stay and the horse rides in advance, The manager and the guide completely ruined our experience by acting rude, unprofessionally and with no empathy. She did not apologize or even offer ice for my injured knee. She was trying to intimidate us to leave. When the police arrived the manager lied to them and said that I ran her horse into the tree and in the attached photo you can clearly see that the snaffle bit is out so I had no control of the horse after it got roped off. The guide had full control of the horse I rode. This is the rudest and the least professional horseback riding facility I have seen. I grew up around horses and I've seen many stables around the world as I travel a lot and ride horses often. I've never experienced such terrible service and lack of empathy. With an injured knee and not even an apology or offering me some ice the manager decided to kick us out by calling the police and telling the cops that we are trespassing after I paid $240 for 2 hours of riding on easy trail trail and hundreds of dollars for our stay at Pocono Manor that was supposed to be a safe and pleasant experience for my wife and me. The horseback riding facility at the Pocono Manor Ranch, is a place that's dangerous for children and adults and should be avoided at all cost. Unqualified personnel endangers safety and health of the resort visitors as well as the animal welfare of the horses. I will spare you the photos of horse injuries as they are disturbing and traumatizing. Under no circumstances go there if you care about your family health or well-being. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST.

I spoke with Carrie who altered her schedule for that day to fit us in and we couldn't have had a more wonderful experience. She took the time to get us comfortable with our horses, I had Montana and my wife had Sonny, and we fed them treats, she showed us how to saddle them up properly, and patiently explained how to properly ride and handle our beautiful horses. She then led us on their scenic trail through flower-bedded fields, hilly horse paths, and by a scenic lake all while she took hundreds of pictures of us throughout our journey to cherish for years to come. Carrie has a beautiful farm, stable, and even an indoor area for riding lessons and parties. Her horses are all beautiful, well-kept, trained to handle all level of riders, and obviously well-loved and cared for. I highly recommend Misty Hollow for everyone, no matter which experience you choose to partake in (trail riding, lessons, parties, equestrian, etc). I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. Thank you Carrie and Misty Hollow, as well as Montana, Sonny, and Holly, for wonderful memories made!!!!

I really love horses and was interested in grooming and tacking the horse I am to ride. I have ridden the same horse so far and she is perfect for now. She also cares about horses and takes great care of them and that was part of my decision to ride here. I have already signed up for additional lessons. I went on a trail ride yesterday for the first time and all I can say is it was incredibly awesome. We walked some and enjoyed the scenery and had the opportunity to canter as well. It was loads of fun and I look forward to going again. If you are looking for a place to learn to ride, continue your training and going on Trail rides this is definitely the place to go!
