Crab Rangoon, fried rice, chicken. Noodles

Location: towards the west of Lawrence. Small shopping place with several stores. Ambiance: Family oriented, but they also offer karaoke. Food: it is good. They offer traditional Chinese and americanized. I would go for the authentic food. Service: outstanding. Alan is very friendly and customer oriented.

Generals chicken this evening. Or burnt chicken jerky. Either way, avoid it.

Every now and again, my wife wants to eat here... sushi isn't bad, but don't carry out. Eat in, the food is mediocre... take out is for crap. Low grade dog food. I always order generals chicken, extra spicy. And it's never spicy, nor enough sauce. The best thing about the dish tonight was the broccoli was cooked well. Chicken was flavorless and over cooked. Yes, pic included. A long time Lawrence restaurant that has gotten lazy. I agree once or twice a year so my wife can have sushi, but other than that, this place isn't worth your time or money. Stay away, or eat in and have a 50/50 chance of quality. I have to at least give one star to post, but it didn't deserve that.

Allen is an amazing bartender. Whenever I'm in town, I come here. I've never had anything less than a delicious meal. Want a nice bar to go to? Check. Need a private karaoke room to show off your beautiful voice? Check. Are you interested in being daring and trying some classic Asian dishes while your friends want sesame or orange chicken? Check! I always order the crispy pork intestine which is awesome. The pork spring rolls today were excellent and the meat inside isn't overly diced up.. it tastes like quality fresh pork. My date had Shanghai noodle bowl with bok choy and a little bit of mushroom. It was also excellent. Can't wait to come back again.

I would give this more of a 2.5/5 rating. Most Asian food is average and this was that. Not great but not bad. The fried rice was slightly below average, lacked flavor and tasted more like brown rice. Not to mention they don't give you much rice. I had the General Tso chicken, the sauce was very good, however I prefer smaller bits of chicken that look less like meatballs. That being said the chicken was still fine in texture. The service was friendly and quick. I would return here if my friends wanted to go but this would not personally be my choice of Asian food.

    Sesame Chicken

The food was just about inedible. We order the sesame chicken which was cooked to the consistency of cardboard. The white rice was overcooked. The crab rangoon wraps were tough and hard to chew.

two takeout containers of beef and broccoli

I lived in Lawrence from '88-2010, and would have rated Jade Garden as best in class. I ordered today (Orange Chicken & General Tso (picture attached if possible). They were identical (and horrible) except the Orange Chicken had a couple Orange peels and the General had one pepper. When I spoke with (what I assumed was an owner) she told me the order was correct, and I should have ordered something that tasted better. Amazing disappointment from a place that was formerly wonderful. I did notice the has "Best of Lawrence" awards for 2nd or 3rd place. I'll seeks #1 for a decent meal.

I tried their spring rolls and they're decent for the Midwest. It was a pleasure finding a place where they serve spring rolls and this did the job although I didn't like the dipping peanut sauce it was unbalanced.

    General Tso's Chicken

6 pieces of chicken and one scoop of rice overpriced and overrated I paid 20$ for two general tsos just to be disappointed I will not be coming back here one of the flavor is mediocre

    Duck noodle soup.

We got Vietnamese iced coffees, crab rangoons, spring rolls, and pho. The pho I had was rich in flavor for the broth. You can tell it was boiled for awhile. The noodles were cooked perfectly! Not soggy at all and had a good bite to them. The veggies were nice and crisp too! Crab rangoons, I have no ill words for them. Just a standard rangoon that was well made. Not oily at all. Their peanut sauce that went with the spring rolls was thicker than the places that I am used to. I must say I actually prefer this locations peanut sauce over the ones I have had in my home state. 10/10! Will come again.

The staff was doing the best they could to keep up with the crowd, and everyone was friendly and courteous. The food was good overall. The pho had a good, flavorful broth, and the hủ tiếu mì khô was also well-seasoned with good flavor. They accidentally forgot our sweet potato dish, but with how busy they were, we decided not to wait any longer. The cà phê sữa đá was excellent--the balance of strong coffee and sweet condensed milk was just right. The bánh mì was decent as well. The bread was perfectly toasted and had a nice crust, though I do wish it had a little more meat. Overall, it was a good lunch experience. I think I'd come back after the crowds settle down a bit so we can try more of the menu at a more relaxed pace.

The restaurant was very nice--tastefully decorated with authentic touches that felt intentional and refined. The large canvas artwork added character without overwhelming the space. It struck a perfect balance: elegant but comfortable. The staff was attentive, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were patient and accommodating, especially with our little one, which always makes a difference when dining out with family. We started with the sampler platter, which included fresh spring rolls, crispy spring rolls, and a variety of other traditional bites. Everything was prepared well--the fresh rolls were vibrant and clean tasting, while the crispy rolls had a satisfying crunch without being greasy. For entrées, my wife ordered the Vietnamese pork chop with the perfectly runny egg over broken rice. The pork was well-seasoned and cooked just right, and that egg brought everything together beautifully. I ordered the Bánh Mì and a bowl of pho. The pho had the perfect level of spice--balanced, aromatic, and comforting. The broth had depth, and you could tell it was crafted with care. The Bánh Mì was equally impressive; the baguette was toasted just right--crispy on the outside, soft on the inside--holding all the flavors together without overpowering them. What truly stands out is that Broken Rice delivers this level of quality without being overly expensive. It's a great value for authentic, well-executed Vietnamese cuisine. And most importantly--our niece enjoyed herself too, which says a lot. I would absolutely recommend Broken Rice to anyone looking for a satisfying, authentic dining experience in a warm and welcoming atmosphere

As there is no reservations taken, we waited about 30 min for a table. Drinks were ordered & arrived quickly. Appetizers were fresh & tasty (got eaten before pics). We did have a bit of a wait between the waiter giving us a run down of the menu and availability of items and his return to take our order, but no fault of his since everyone we saw was hustling and multitasking to take care of an overflow crowd. The food came out fairly quickly upon ordering. I ordered a side salad and the lasagna, my wife ordered the Jalapeño Cornbread Crab Cakes. My side salad was generous in its assortment of greens and veggies with cheese and croutons, but was lacking in dressing. I would have asked for an additional side cup, but the waiter was already overloaded. My wifes crab cakes with remoulade were very tasty from the samples that I had. yet the star of the meal / week was the the best damn Lasagna that I've ever had! Stacked tall with about 40 layers (give or take 30) of heavily seasoned meat, pasta, red sauce, alfredo sauce and cheese and topped with two perfect bread sticks. Wow! Thankfully the weather was cool, so I had no problem taking part of it home for a second meal later. I'd love to return and sample some of the Udon noodle dishes, sticky ribs or even the cheeseburger. They all looked wonderful from a distance. A great job from the back of house and front of house during a Saturday night slam.
