Food ordered thru ubereats and arrived on time within 45 min, still hot. Veggies were crisp and entrees were spicy as requested. Portions were on the smaller side and not packed fully to the brim like other Chinese takeout places. It was very very greasy with oil floating on the top so I had to drain most of the sauce. Veggie spring rolls also soaked with oil and no amount of paper towels helped. Most likely would not order again! Experience 6/10. Edible and made for a decent one-time meal. read more

First time back here after moving out of the area. It use to be pretty decent a dozen years ago. Right after opening the bag we thought we were missing items as there were mostly small containers. The portion sizes were disappointingly small, the beef lo mien came in the box usually used for the white rice side. It was also just greasy with no flavor, even the soy sauce didn't help. The sesame chicken was the best of the meal but was over cooked and tough. The pad Thai was not very good compared to any other I've had, strange vinegar smell, It just wasn't good. I guess the egg rolls were fine though but that bars pretty low. Things are expensive these days and it's frustrating to blow money on subpar disappointing meals. Should've just made anything at home, or went to Wawa across the street. read more

Caddy-corner from Wawa on Lancaster Avenue lies Jade Garden, a Chinese/Japanese restaurant that remains oft overlooked despite being located in the midst of one of Shillington's busiest intersections. This place is by no means fancy. The decor is horribly outdated, and the chairs and tables look straight out of a 70s diner. It's not quite down to the level of folding metal chairs, but it's close. There are booths, thank goodness, so try to grab one of those. Someone please explain to me how when you order soup to-go from Chinese restaurants, it comes in giant containers, but when you order soup for dine-in, it comes out in a tiny tea cup and costs the exact same? I think I'm going to start ordering a to-go order of soup when I sit down and just crack that baby open as soon as it comes out while I'm still waiting for my entree. The soup *is* good, though. Which is why I want more of it! The hot and sour soup is hearty and has nice heat to it. My Chinese comfort food is lo mein, and this place nails it. Large chunks of meat adorn an imposing pile of noodles dotted with green onion, water chestnuts, carrots, and bean sprouts. The balance of soy sauce, garlic, and onion flavor are always key. Many places seem to be just slightly off in this regard. But Jade Garden has the formula down pat. In addition to standard dining room seating, there's a sushi bar towards the back of the restaurant. Lunch can be hectic, as there is only one server on who's responsible for all front of house duties. They play some funky Chinese music here. There are some some classic Asian tunes with the string instruments and stuff, but then the next song could be some thumping modern Chinese pop song by the Asian Backstreet Boys. My boyfriend and I think this is the worst " Chinese" restaurant ever. Food doesn't even taste like it was made by real Asians I swear they have a homeless guy from Philly in the kitchen. I will not return to this place. My sashimi was still frozen when I picked up my delivery, after waiting 10 minutes past when they said it would be ready. I'm not opposed to it having been frozen, I'd prefer it weren't but this is lower-end sushi not fancy stuff. Even still, we also ordered a General Tso's dish that was not well cooked, had little flavor and the rice was over cooked. Sorely disappointed being one of only a few sushi places locally that isn't in the high dollar range. And this wasn't cheap either. Food was decent, but the dine in service was terrible. We were a party of 5 at about 6:30 pm. Most Asian restaurants offer fried wontons with sauce as a sort of app, but not here. Plates came out one at a time, over about 5 minutes to serve all of us (a big no-no to me - shouldn't you serve the whole table at once?). I ordered fries with my dinner, then asked for ketchup - I received a soufflé cup with about a tablespoon and a half of ketchup in it! Seriously? And when my mom asked for duck sauce for her egg roll, they handed her a single packet! I'm not living in the area, but my sister who does says their delivery is stellar. As for the sushi bar, it looked sinister. I had the garlic broccoli, which was labelled "hot & spicy" (it was a little warm, perfect for me but my heat-loving hubby would have been disappointed). My husband was hungry for sushi for a few months and we decided to splurge tonight and order some from Jade Garden. What a mistake!! For $55, we had the smallest amount and worst sushi we have ever eaten. It had no flavor, the rice crumbled every piece we picked up and and the wasabi was the weakest I ever tasted. After waiting an hour and a half for my order, one of my items was not delivered. I had ordered General Tso's Shrimp, Hot and Sour Soup, a California Roll, and Crab Rangoons for dinner for my boyfriend and myself. The California Roll was not delivered. When I called to inform them, I was asked if the price could be credited to my next order, without ever being offered for the item to be delivered. Poor customer service! Aside from not receiving an item from my order, the shrimp in the General Tso's Shrimp tasted and smelled fishy, not like shrimp. When we order for delivery they almost always have something missing, so we have stopped ordering. We tried going there to dine in and were very dissapointed. The servers who are young kids are not polite atall. The serve your food and drinks holding the top of the dish/cup where your mouth goes. The sushi really is nothing special (but that is expected with it being such a low price) and the good itself is not great. I've only ordered delivery from this place once and it took them over 2 hours to get my food to me. Everytime I called they assured me it was on it's way, and when it finally got to my home I did not get an apology or even a discount. I was a long time customer of Jade Garden. But, the past two experiences were terrible. Three friends I I ate there for sushi a few weeks ago. The service was terrible and took over an hour and a half. The second poor experience was with take out. I ordered food on a Friday night around 6:00. 7:00 rolls around still not here. I call and the kid of the owner answers and says delivery is on the way, I live 5 minutes away. The delivery guy didn't arrive for another additional hour. Food was so cold and my order wasn't correct. I called just to let them know of the issue, and they didn't seem to care. It seems they are very understaffed, and unable to fulfill orders. read more

The mixed vegetables were delicious and plentiful, as was the side order of vegie fried rice. And the crab rangoons were the best I've ever devoured! I wish I could give this place 0 stars. I wasted $25 on my meal and all I ate was the (quarter size) miso soup. I got the spicy cucumber salad and the chirashi (sashimi on a bed of sushi rice) when I got my takeout I immediately could tell it did not look right. The box itself was COVERED in fish oil, my hands smelled wretched just from touching it. Open up to see two pieces of "mackerel", which still had the hard, difficult to bite through skin. I almost threw up taking a bite of it, not only did it taste like old fish past its prime, it was incomprehensibly oily and tasted of a concentrated form of the sickening oil coating the container. I broke off a small sliver of the tuna in there and again, my stomach lurched. I have never tasted fish that foul and repugnant. I tried the sushi rice--which, literally tasted as if they took plain white rice and poured straight up rice vinegar on it. There's a process to make it correctly and they clearly didn't follow it. What about the cucumber salad, you may be wondering? I could stomach two bites before I tossed it. Old cucumber that has that taste--that gross, chewy, limp flavor, with a seasoning on it that was reminiscent to the way a sharpie smells (imagine it as a flavor--ew) needless to say, I threw everything away, because I can assure you if I ate that fish I would have been vomiting my brains out. read more

I've been here plenty of times, and have purchased other services from them as well. It's sort of a diamond in the rough, as I don't see a lot of activity when I go here at any one given time. The dining area is super small, but the staff are quite friendly. The Chinese food is on par or better than places in the area like Asian Star (used to be Panda Heaven) for a much smaller price tag. I have had General Tso's, Dragon and Phoenix, sweet and sour soup, eggrolls, and egg foo young from here, all super quality stuff, very tasty. I even used this place to cater for my wedding. Everyone at the wedding reception thought it was unique, and the food was amazing. I was kinda sad that there was nothing left afterwords. lol I also purchased a big party platter of sushi from here for a party, and it was decent. I'm not a sushi connoisseur, so it's hard for me to review it. Nobody complained about it however, and there was nothing left. Even friends of mine that weren't into sushi were eating and enjoying it. Great place to get Chinese food from, decent portions, and good quality. read more
