Last October 17, 2023, after 6 years visiting this eye clinic, i was surprise that they are charging a fee if you pay with a credit card , in other words thay are passing operational expenses to patients. This is a poor business practice, none of the doctors and Hospital in the Miami area do this. i compliant to Dr. Gary Jaffe. He said that in 2020 he sold the business to American Vision Group. Tomorrow they will charge for using the waiting room or using the toilet . NOT A GOOD BUSINESS PRACTICE. NOBODY DOES THIS. read more

This review is not about Dr Jaffe ,personally but more about his entourage , personnel working there First, the adress on Yelp is the wrong adress has they moved to a different place about 4 years ago. Nobody told me their adress when I made the appointment . So, I drove around for 20 minutes to tried to find that building where he was suppose to have his office . I decided to call them, and now I learned they had move and the worst , they had gave me the appointment in Delray Beach, even that we live in the Halandale area. Now I was already late 30 minutes for the appointment and I asked them if I was going now to the new location, as I was just around the corner from them. If they would see the patient . They said no, make an other appointment. So I did, and again as I arrived in 15 minutes before the new time, I sat there one and half hour before being call to see the doctor. I think, changes choose be done in that office to be more professional. read more

For years, they are listed in my BCBS directory to see HMO patients in Aventura. All 20 doctors listed there. They DON'T see HMO patients in Aventura. They make you travel 50 miles north to Delray. Time to quit even though I've known the one doctor personally for many years read more

The Surgical Coordinator and Dr. Emery Jaffe basically destroyed my Eyes. He Forgot to put a reader during lazer surgery in one eye and in the second eye gave me only a reading and seeing capacity of 4 feet. He actually Yelled at me while on the operating table while a metal clamp was inserted into my eye and even the nurses gasped. He knew he botched the Surgeries when I could not see for three days after the second surgery and I came back 6 times . Then I eventually had YAG surgery in both eyes by a Wonderful Doctor but still have to wear Glasses none the less. His Bedside manner was Cold like a Zombie. His Surgical Coordinator only wanted my Money Upfront and was very impatient with me . After the Botch Job she was like maple syrup. An American Horror Story. Stay Away from This Frankenstein.The Staff was sympathetic to me they knew what had happened.10 months before I could Drive again and thank heavens my Optometrist of 37 years took the time and patience to try as hard as possible to give me some sort vofcReading and Distance Glasses. I don't usually write negative reviews unless things are really below my already generally low expectations, but Dr Emery Jaffe's office deserves this! To be clear, I never met with the doctor, so I have no comments about his medical skills nor his medical care. I called his office as a new patient, not for a general eye exam, but for a problem I'm having with a growth on my eyelid and terrible itching, tearing, etc. They had an opening one week out so I took it, and confirmed that they accept my insurance, which they did. One week later, suffering with my eye ailment all week, I showed up for my appointment only to be told that they could not see me because they actually don't take my insurance! They claim they reached out to me during the week, but I never got a call, not a text, not an email, nothing!! Now, after wasting a week, I'm starting all over again to find a doctor for my problem. Dr Jaffe's staff was cold as ice and just simply sent me away with no apology, no offer to assist in any way, nothing. Shame on them! And since I believe the captain is responsible for his ship, shame on Dr Jaffe! read more

terrible experience. I had an appointment to see Dr. Jaffe today.I was recommended by my specialist to have dr Jaffe do cataract surgery. I was on time ,front desk took my ID ,my medical insurance asked me to sit down.. I waited an hour an half! The waiting room had been empty for the past 20 minutes. My name was called and the girl at the desk says" are you here to see Dr Jaffe? I haven't given you the paperwork that you have to fill in yet. I'm sorry" I totally lost it. Had an incredible experience from start to finish!! I'm an early recipient of a cataract surgery at 47 years old but my vision was declining almost monthly in my right eye. I had 3 consultations with Dr Jaffe before we scheduled the surgery and he took the time to discuss the procedure, the complications (which he wrote a book on) and what to expect in general. It's a state of the art facility and for that reason is a very busy office, but the staff was all very professional and friendly. On the day of the surgery I was again given detailed instructions on the procedure and what to expect in the coming weeks. I am now 2 weeks post surgery and could not be happier. Having one good eye and one bad eye made for some tough driving conditions and I thank God the procedure went well and that I was in good hands for the entire procedure. OK, so it is Sunday... emergency situations don't happen by scheduled appointment, I called the Aventura office location for Dr Jafee TWICE to be sure I didn't miss a cue. Nope, there is no way to access any ophthalmologist other than to leave a message and expect a call back the next business day. ... I am having a vision problem now, I don't know why or to be worried or not and finding a damn doctor from the office that so willingly accepts my payment doesn't seem possible. If my vision doesn't clear up I'm at a loss. Any urgent care center will kindly take your money and refer you to an eye doctor. Likely the same with the ER. I was completely disappointed by my experience here. Like others have said, the wait time is very long. I spent about 45 minutes in the front waiting room, and then 30 minutes in the back waiting room before being seen by the doctor. However, here are the two things that bothered me most: -The medical assistant takes your IOP and dilates you before you sit in the second waiting room. She used her bare hands to open my eye, and even touched my lip somehow, without sanitizing first. That's not ok. -The doctor literally spent 3 minutes with me after I had waited all that time for him. I felt that because I am young, and I wasn't going to need cataract surgery, he dismissed my symptoms. I will never go back here. It was a total waste of my time and money. read more

Dr Jaffe while performing cataract surgery accidently cut my Iris claiming I moved. If I was sedated how could I move. Also when I needed more drops they sold me office only samples for $70. Today was my first visit and I couldn't be any happier with my experience! The staff was professional when examining my eyes and Dr.Jaffe was great and explained my results to me and ensured I understood what they meant. I'm very selective when it comes to my eyes due to possible early onset glaucoma and I will continue to trust Dr.Jaffe and his team for any eye exams and treatments needed in my future. I had a terrible experience at this place. 2 days prior I had a sharp pain in my left eye (my "good" eye). I taught I was going to fall to the ground. That night I noticed I had seriously lost vision in that eye and could no longer see my computer screen (I have a 4 monitor setup). The next morning I realized I could not see normally nor drive. My perfectly good eye was now seeing double and blurry. Also my eye was sort of numb. I made an appointment with a new doctor (I just moved to Miami Beach). He told me I might have a "retinal hemorrhage" and to immediately (ie now) see an ophthalmologist. The front desk setup an appointment with Dr. Fleischman at the Jaffe Eye Institute in Aventura. After waiting 2 hours in the waiting rooms. I finally saw Dr. Fleischman. He told me that I should get a new pair of eye glasses and that all was fine with my eyes. I told him I was concerned about my sudden loss of vision. I had to insist as he did not seem to care about anything but recommending a new pair of eye glasses. He responded that a bug probably flew in my eye and that made me suddenly realize that my vision had decreased over the years. I insisted that my vision in that eye was totally fine before the incident. He told me that it was "not possible without major trauma". Here is a doctor telling me in my face that I did not loss vision when I perfectly know that I did. It was surreal. That was a very stressful experience for me. I still do not know what happen to my eye. I was very distressed by this experience. My vision gradually came back to my eye the follow days. I am still socked by this doctors behavior. If this doctor does this habitually to his patients he should be put out of business with his employer the Jaffe Eye Institute. I would not recommend this place to any one. read more

Dr. Jaffe might be good, I don't know yet. but his staff Got a D minus. My parents were treated in the worst way possible by the receptionist. My parents are spanish speaking, they know little english and they are old. But that is why i went with them. The receptionist felt annoyed by dealing with us, I guess we were interrupting her Facebook chat in the computer. We just wanted to pay, and while she looked at her computer monitor yelled at my parents saying we already sent a bill, so she couldn't just collect the money there ? Weird, must be that Dr.Jaffe doesn't want to collect his money. But that is not the case my mother deserve respect just like any other person that goes that office, elderly patients are challenging but they all deserve respect and patience. Then we wanted to know what is next after the exam, we don't know we don't work there, again she replied to as yelling while looking at her computer screen. Then I told her, I am an RN and work in the most stressful job ever the ER and have never talk to any of my patients like you do. well she made fun of me, and say bye RN... Please if this office have office manager, your Staff need customer service skills review asap. As a conclusion this place is not recommended.
