He told me more than any other eye doctor. He was understanding and proscribed a course of treatment that I understood.

Well, to start off, we came in the first door from the outside hallway. It was 98° outside. She barely made the walk as far as she did. And instead of her saying we could cut through the office , she wanted us to go back outside in the heat and walk or drive to the entrance since she was clearly the person you see when you check out. When I said "she's 93, can't we get to the front from here?" Another female heard me and said "I will show you". That was a few minutes before 2p and that's when the appt was for. The receptionist at check in was Seydi, she was very kind and patient. I was actually admiring how kind she was with everyone. Which I had plenty of time for because the wait was a bit long. Then we were with Lous , the technician who was magnificent! She was very patient and kind to Mrs Paley. After she was done with the testing , we had to wait again. This was time to wait to see the doctor. We finally made it to the exam room and waited again. When Dr Moulin finally came in the room, I had her daughter on speaker phone because she couldn't make the appt, she has her own health issues. She asked the doctor what took so long and explained that her mother is 93 and recently had several strokes And tires easily. At this point it was going on two hours of waiting. When she asked him that, his attitude became snide And he then "examined" her eyes and told her there was absolutely nothing he could do for her. He repeated that many times and told her she is better off using reading glasses / cheaters. She really thought there was something that could be done to help her vision for the remainder of her life. Our hope For that was squashed. Not asking him to work miracles but he was just so short and unapologetic. We came from Lauderdale by the Sea just to see him or his colleague for a possible solution. We felt like that drive and wait was for absolutely nothing except to be treated poorly from the moment we walked in. I do not know the name of rude check out person but she knows who she is. We would not recommend this facility or doctor. Especially if they needed to make a long drive to their office.

I took my mom to see an eye doctor last year, and we ended up getting her progressive lenses filled…read moreat LensCrafters it cost me $1,000 out of pocket since she doesn't have insurance. I saw it as an investment, something that would last. But only a few months later, she started telling me she couldn't see well again. This was a huge issue because she loves to read it's one of her main joys and ways to stay engaged. I wasn't sure what to do next. I hesitated to take her to another doctor, wondering how her vision could change so quickly. But I started calling around, only to find that most eye exams were $200-$400, which was out of reach financially. Then I found Optical Express at Bascom Palmer (University of Miami Eye Institute) offering exams for just $100. I was honestly apprehensive about the quality of care at that price, and some of the Yelp reviews made me even more unsure but I went ahead and got us on the cancellation list. Luckily, they called with an earlier appointment. And I'm so glad I gave them a chance. The doctor who saw my mom was absolutely incredible. From the moment we walked in, he was warm, patient, and kind. He immediately noticed that my mom had a disability, and he took extra care to explain everything clearly to her never rushing, never frustrated, just deeply compassionate. He treated her like family. As her caretaker, I'm usually the one explaining things to her after appointments, but he took that burden off my shoulders. It meant a lot. Even more importantly, he discovered that the original prescription she'd received last year was incorrect. He spent 30-40 minutes carefully examining her vision and correcting the mistake. I saw a review saying a doctor only spent 5 minutes with them but that couldn't have been further from our experience. He was thorough and thoughtful. After the exam, we went over to the glasses side of the clinic, and I was bracing myself for another high bill. But Natasha who helped us was so kind and understanding. She listened to our situation and worked with us to find a price we could afford. She even helped me brainstorm ways to get my mom back to the clinic (since she doesn't drive), going above and beyond in every way. We're coming back next week to pick up the new lenses, but I already feel confident recommending this place to anyone especially if you're looking for a compassionate, competent doctor and staff who truly care.
