A hidden gem...quality takeout within a mini-mart. Portions size is decent. Taste is great. Wait time is longer than expected especially since it was not busy within walking customers (but there were alot of takeout orders so I guess they prioritize those rather than customers walking in the door). Growing up, I used to come here often. I hadn't been back in a few years, but it still tastes just as delicious as I remember. If you're looking for a quick Korean plate to go, this is definitely a solid spot. I recommend getting an extra side so you'll be full. My favorites are the kalbi, japchae, and spicy pork. I do think the owners may have changed, and the portions seem smaller than they used to be. In photos, the plates look packed, but in person, they don't feel quite as generous. It's not often that you go to a grocery store, totally ignore the grocery part and just concentrate on what makes this place special. It's their Korean barbecue section. The place cooks up a lot of food as during the time I was there, there were folks from all walks of life, your healthcare workers, the construction guys, the hoodie-goons, housewives in pajamas, it's a regular stream of people about as diverse as a Walmart in the ghetto. If you're looking for some quality Korean food at fair portions for the price, this is THE local spot! I've been coming to Bart Grocery for years and is always a hit with friends who are trying this place out for the first time. My favorite is the marinated spicy pork plate but I've also had the kimchi fried rice and beef short ribs (galbi) plate. Absolutely delicious and filling and I always have some leftovers for a second meal for the next day. I recommend calling ahead for takeout. They give you a pretty accurate time when the food will be ready for pick-up so it's just more convenient. Their japchae and spicy pork has gotten better since a few years ago but it's still not as tasty and the pork almost bland when it used to be perfectly balanced. It's still decent value but it might not be the healthiest. There was a quarter cup of red oil leftover from my plate and that's but including what was on the rice and pork. This place used to be great, but it has definitely gone downhill. I ordered the bulgogi, and it was incredibly disappointing. It looked like the meat had been minced so they could spread it out, and it was completely lacking in flavor. With the recent price increase, the quality simply doesn't justify the cost. It's been a while since we've been out to Daly City. We made sure we would swing by Bart Market to indulge in what used to be kick butt marinated chicken with a side of jap chae. I've been coming to BART Grocery & BBQ on and off for over 10 years and have so many great memories of grabbing their food for get-togethers with friends. It had been about three years since my last visit, but a craving for their BBQ brought me back on a sunny Tuesday afternoon. Parking was surprisingly easy--at 5pm their 20-minute spots were actually open (which is rare, since parking here is usually a challenge). I walked right in, placed my order, and had my food hot and ready in under 10 minutes. The aroma filled my car the whole drive home! I ordered the Marinated Chicken, Beef Short Ribs (Kalbi), Beef Bulgogi, and Bibimbap, with a $5 upgrade to Kimchi Fried Rice with the chicken. The standout was definitely the Kalbi Short Ribs--juicy, tender, and perfectly charred at the edges. Absolutely delicious and a must-try! The Marinated Chicken was also great, served in a very generous portion with rice and japchae noodles. The kimchi fried rice was flavorful and packed with plenty of kimchi. The biggest letdown was the Bulgogi. It was surprisingly bland, lacking that sweet-salty flavor, and felt heavy on onions compared to beef. I did enjoy the mushrooms, but overall it needed a boost. Fortunately, the same beef worked much better in the Bibimbap. Once mixed with the gochujang and veggies, every bite was flavorful and satisfying. Overall, the portions are large, the prices are fair, and most of the food hit the spot. While I'd skip the Bulgogi next time, I'd absolutely recommend trying their Kalbi Short Ribs--worth the trip on their own! read more

Food took about 15 minutes to make. Parking in the neighborhood if you don't mind walking. Store is small. I've personally told them multiple times that I am paying with a debit card and I was buying more than one item so I should be allowed to use my card without being forced to pay cash. Bart grocery did not disappoint! I ordered the Kalbi and it was honestly so mouth watering and delicious. It was about 20 dollars for the plate but it comes with many short ribs, rice, japchae, and a small container of homemade kimchi! Although it was 20 dollars for the plate the was actually a good amount of meat that was included. The short ribs was marinated in one of the best sauces I have had. My meal was bulgogi and was disappointed- tiny pieces of meat , majority was onions and worse of all, there was hair in my food. Nasty! My BF and I love this place for takeout Korean BBQ. It's a few blocks from the Daly City Bart station, hence the name. The food comes out pretty fast typically around 10 minutes or less, so it's easy to pick dinner up on the way home. We order two plates and that's often enough for more than 1 meal. Typically we will get spicy chicken or spicy pork, but the grilled chicken and bulgogi are good too. The short ribs are off the chart delicious, so that's what I have been getting lately. The meals come with rice and japchae (which I could eat everyday). I love these tasty glass noodles and the kimchee what comes on the side. 2025 update. Bart Grocery & BBQ is not the best Korean food I have had. But that's not the point. They are pretty good. The restaurant smells like sweet Korean BBQ when you walk in because they grill the meat right there. I still miss the old husband & wife team that retired in 2020. It felt more homey when they were around. Today I had the tofu soup $14 and marinated chicken $14 for lunch. I can't believe I've never had their tofu soup before. It was surprisingly good. The beef short ribs were aromatic, tender and flavorful. The japjie was perfectly seasoned with good mouthfeel. The marinated chicken doesn't disappoint. It's flavorful dark meat that works perfectly with the japjie. Lastly, the kimchi fried rice is tasty and well balanced. (Ask for mild spice for those who are sensitive to heat.) PRO-TIP: Go off hours. This is a popular spot. Parking is usually 20 minutes and each time, most orders required 15-20 minutes to complete-totally WORTH it. I will call in my orders from now on. Prices are still reasonable over the years, as it usually breaks into two meals because of the portion size. This food at this place is amazing, even though the staff aren't the friendliest. It's a takeout kitchen (no dine in) and grocery store near Daly City Bart that's run by a Korean couple. It gets a bit smokey in there with the open grill and kitchen, but it smells delicious. Besides their kitchen, they carry a small variety of domestic and foreign goods, drinks, and snacks. To start off, their most noteworthy dish is their kimchi. My wife and I eat a ton of Korean food and have had kimchi from many a restaurant, but the kimchi here is simply exceptional. It has just the right amount of tanginess and spice. Because it is used in many of the main dishes, it makes those dishes all the more delicious. Their spicy tofu soup is the best I've ever had. The flavors are enhanced by that kimchi, plus the mandu that they leave in the soup is phenomenal. There are also huge blocks of tofu that have absorbed the broth's flavors. Simply amazing. The kimchi fried rice was great as well, especially with beef. Again, the flavor of that kimchi comes through strong with a hint of sesame oil. The only thing that I thought made the fried rice even better was pairing it with their spicy pork. The thinly cut strips of pork with that rice was incomparable. And now some minor complaints regarding some of the staff. They aren't too friendly, but they're not rude either. They give off a borderline cordial tone with a certain degree of complacency. They've likely been around for a while and praised for so long, it's probably business as usual to them. That said, if I had a dine in experience and given a similar level of service, I probably would have given them 4 stars instead of 5, but service isn't as prevalent in this case since this a takeout only restaurant. I grew up next to a mall where the quick serve chicken teriyaki over rice/noodles was on regular rotation and it's something I can't find anymore anywhere I look, and now that I've found Bart Grocery & BBQ, I find myself rejoicing in the simplicity of a meal that I can pick up whenever. I always get the teriyaki chicken combo plate ($14) with extra meat ($5) and extra sauce ($0.50). The meat is piled up nicely over a bed of noodles and rice and comes with a side of kimchi. This thing fills me up for less than $20 at such a steal, given everything costs like $20+ at a minimum in the SF and surrounding areas. I tried the kimchi fried rice on a massive craving last night for the first but it lacked a salty flavor and had better at Bay Pocha in SF near SFSU. We have visited this place multiple times and it has became one of our regular rotation. My favorite go to item is the kalbi with lunches fried rice. The portion size is generous. I ordered two plates (one bulgolgi and one grilled chicken) and a side of potstickers for my family's lunch. Total came to about $45 with tip. Order took about 15 minutes to make and during that time, both DoorDash orders and phone orders did not stop flooding in! It was impressive they were able to keep pace! Upon arriving home and presenting the goods to my family, everyone remarked how tantalizing the plates smelled! They also really loved how packed the dishes were with the meats, japchae, and rice. They also liked the little container of kimchi on the side! Dad found the japchae to be a little too salty for him but otherwise everyone really enjoyed the lunch. Admittedly my family doesn't eat a lot so it wasn't a surprise that we had leftovers, but it wasn't a lot left.
