H-Mart has expanded and much bigger than before, as they moved their housewares to next door in the basement. The food court now has 4 main eateries with Kalbijin relocating to next door, with a bigger seating area. The supermarket area seems more spacious and much easier to move around with your carts when it gets busy. They must have moved the food shelves around, since the housewares have been relocated. The new expanded area has the following: They have a cute stationary section with cute Korean toys, notebooks, pens etc, a luxury shop selling designer goods and a claw machine area for the younger ones. A great selection of housewares in the expanded area, with rice cookers, pots and pans, kitchen items etc. Definitely worth a visit to check out all things Korean. read more

New expansion to a downstairs area..downstairs is mostly h mart's version of home goods like plates, cups, cleaning goods, etc. Main floor is grocery. A SF staple. Good prices and I just love th seafood area. Affordable fish and seafood to cook. Staff is reasonable and somewhat helpful but what do you expect at supermarket. Overall, it's generally clean even though the crowd is pretty dirty. Given that, I do feel that they make an effort to upkeep this place. Often crowded and parking is savage but all good. My main goal was to pick up some sea snails for my homemade lunch. They were $7.99 per pound, and I got about a pound with 11 large sea snails. The employee who helped me was very friendly and happily helped me pick out the biggest ones. The seafood section was clean, well-organized, and easy to shop. The sea snails tasted fresh, with a slightly sweet, briny flavor and a firm, chewy texture. I was very happy with the quality, especially for the price. Overall, I had a great experience and appreciated the excellent customer service. I'm looking forward to checking out their new food hall when it opens. :) read more

**REVIEW FOR NEW HMART EXTENSION** My sister and I finally stopped by the new H Mart extension (the space that used to be 24 Hour Fitness), and it was such a smart way to expand the store. We were a little confused at first about how to get there, but all you have to do is enter through the food court and make a right! Daeho is now much bigger and located inside the new extension. Its old spot in the food court has been taken over by new restaurants, and I believe one of them is a rice cake (tteokbokki) spot that looks really promising. Past Daeho is a stationery and merchandise store. It was major eye candy, but wow... expensive. Even simple items like hair clips and pens started around $10, and most things seemed to be in the $15-20 range, minimum lol... If you take the escalator to the left of the stationery store, you'll find a whole downstairs area! It has several photobooth stations in the back ($10), tons of gachapon (capsule toy) machines that gave me major Japan vibes, what looked like a kitchen appliance store, and an extension of the grocery market. Honestly, the grocery selection downstairs wasn't much different from what you can already find upstairs, so I preferred shopping on the main floor. That said, there was definitely a larger selection of kitchenware downstairs. My sister and I were SO excited to see the photobooth area! It was honestly pretty clean, super cute, and had so many frame designs to choose from. It's $10 for two photo strips, and you can scan the QR code printed on them to download the digital copies to your phone. My only gripe is that there wasn't anywhere to put the photobooth props while taking pictures. We ended up putting our bag on the floor and tossing everything in there between shots. It would be nice if each booth had a small shelf or table for the props. Also... I'm very curious whether they sanitize the props between uses.... I occasionally shop at H Mart and stopped by on a Saturday around 3 pm. It was busy, and the store feels a bit like Costco, but with a huge selection of Korean, (plus Chinese, Japanese and other Asian) foods and household items. Like Costco, they also have sampling stations throughout the store. During this visit, I sampled barbecue ribs, instant noodles, and cold noodles. The cold noodles were delicious, and I'll definitely pick some up on my next grocery run. This time I bought vegetables and noodles, but the beef, pork, and lamb looked fresh and tempting. I'll definitely be back when I make Korean hot pot. The store is open daily from 8 am to 10 pm, which is convenient. It is well organized, and each aisle is filled with a variety of items that make you want to keep browsing. The food court has several independent food stalls. read more

I stopped coming here because it was always so crowded, the aisles were tight and the parking was always full and my wallet is left dry. We really like the food court at H Mart. They also have a good selection of groceries. Occasionally they run sales, which can be really nice. Being a member also comes with some good perks. Their fresh hot food usually goes on sale after around 6 or 7 PM, which I really like. They also offer many options for banchan, which is something we buy a lot. They have sashimi as well, with a nice selection that isn't overpriced. They also sell Tokyo banana which is nice. Service is pretty normal. nothing particularly good or bad to note. The ambiance is usually busy and can feel a bit cramped at times. It's also always very cold inside. They do have a nice selection of music playing though. I love HMart - just like I love most if not all asian grocery stores... what does set them aside is their quality of meat and produce seems to be premium and the selection of premade and packaged foods can be considered better quality than the smaller mom and pop Korean grocery store offerings. HMart hits a lot of the basic bases and they have a great food court! Service is quick at the register and it's easy to navigate! Only downside is the lack of cell service inside. I came here the other day looking for my favorite chips because this is the only grocery store in the area that carries the Roots brand. Unfortunately, they didn't have my favorite ones but they did have a plain bag so I bought that. I also got a ton of other delicious snacksand drinks here and the prices were actually really good. I highly recommend the boba cat pineapple mango drink with popping boba and the matcha cream wafers! Yum! The store was pretty clean but the aisles were narrow and tight and as far as parking goes I must have come right before rush time because I was able to get a spot but the lot got really crazy after I parked and people were blocking the road waiting for spaces to open up so just be aware of that. H Mart is honestly amazing when it comes to variety. They have pretty much everything you could need, especially if you're looking for Korean groceries or those viral food items you keep seeing on Instagram and TikTok. It's definitely my go-to spot when I want to try something new or grab specific ingredients you can't find at regular grocery stores. There's ample parking, which is a plus, but it gets BUSY. Be prepared to circle around and possibly wait 10-15 minutes for a parking spot to open up during peak hours. Inside, they have tons of carts... but most of them are left out in the parking lot instead of being available right at the entrance where people actually need them. Kind of defeats the purpose, right? They also seem to have plenty of workers on the floor, but I noticed a lot of empty shelf space. You can clearly see extra product stored above the shelves, so it would be nice if restocking happened more consistently throughout the day. One big thing they should improve on is bagging training. Frozen and refrigerated items shouldn't be mixed in with dry goods. My tofu and ice cream should not be in the same bag as my chips and tea. It just doesn't make sense and affects the quality of the groceries by the time you get home. Overall, the atmosphere is friendly and the staff is helpful to an extent. Great selection and solid experience, but there's definitely room for improvement when it comes to organization and efficiency. read more

When I saw the "Manager's Special" label, I thought it meant there was a great deal. Later, when I checked my receipt, I realized the total price had been covered by the sticker. Two sweet potatoes cost nearly $9. I would rather not have the "special" at all. Customers really need to check the unit price carefully and do the math themselves. I am extremely disappointed with my experience at H Mart San Francisco. Before visiting, I had already noticed many Google and Yelp reviews mentioning rude staff, poor customer service, and customers feeling they were treated unfairly. I hoped those reviews did not reflect the true experience, but unfortunately, my visit today proved otherwise. During checkout, one of the cashiers yelled at my 3-year-old child. There is absolutely no excuse for an employee to speak to a young child in such a harsh and disrespectful manner. My child was frightened, and as a parent, I was shocked and deeply upset. Customer service should be built on respect, patience, and professionalism. Instead, we were treated with hostility. It makes me question how employees at this location are trained and whether management is aware of how customers are being treated. I also noticed that many customers mentioned experiencing racial discrimination in their reviews. Before today, I wasn't sure what to think. However, after my own experience, I couldn't help but feel that my family was treated differently as well. When so many customers share similar concerns, I hope H Mart will take them seriously instead of ignoring them. Families should be able to shop without fear of being treated disrespectfully, and no child should ever be yelled at by a cashier. I sincerely hope H Mart investigates this incident, improves staff training, and ensures that every customer is treated with dignity, respect, and professionalism. I finally made time to go here. The parking lot is a bit tighter than I would have liked, but there seems to be a quick enough turn over if you are patient. As for the store itself, it was clean and well organized, but like the lot, the store is busy like an ant farm. Plus, inside they also had a few free samples which added to that constant movement and energy. While there are a handful of familiar items you'd see in a typical U.S. chain grocery store, most of what's on the shelves isn't traditionally carried in those stores. That's really the point here. The selection here is a wonderful variety, and honestly, massive, from Korea and the other Asian markets. I can't read the characters on the packaging, but with a little time (and Google Translate), I was able to find some upscale brands that are completely new to me. The best way I can describe this experience to people who might not understand, or an experience like this would be new to you, is that if you're old enough to remember, think back to when Stoli was considered a top-shelf Vodka in most American stores. Then walk in here and you'll realize there's a whole world beyond Nissan Top Ramen. It's not that anyone is new to grocery stores, but this is a supermarket in the true sense of the word. I have always loved HMART and their prepared foods, but today I bit on a piece of plastic in my kimbap and I can't say that I will ever feel comfortable purchasing prepared foods from them anymore, as I had planned on sharing the kimbap with my toddler who loves them. Updating to say that we found mold on the uni trays we purchased. Both of them, and not clearly obvious until we got to the bottom of the first tray. I was so disgusted I threw away the fully unopened other tray because I could see some fuzz on the edges and did not want to risk it. I love chains that offer many deals and especially when they have a rewards program. Hmart definitely has almost anything I can think of from snacks all the way to produce. I will say be careful in the parking lot because things can get a little tight. But if you don't mind walking a bit there is a garage at the end of the plaza. Pricing is pretty normal compared to other grocery stores in the area but I've rarely gone where a lot of things are out of stock. However, when I was looking at the frozen foods in the open ice chests, the some price labels weren't there and/or items were misplaced. There is a parking lot in the small plaza it's situated in. H Mart is an excellent Asian supermarket. It reminds me of a new Ranch 99, which is another awesome Asian supermarket. Unlike most Asian markets, H Mart is clean and organized. The floor is sparkling clean and every product on the shelf or freezer is neatly stacked. The produce department offers the freshest fruits and veggies of any market. The veggies get a constant "rain" mist so they remain fresh. The seafood department also offers various live fish and shellfish. The freezer section offers a huge variety of authentic Asian products. The cooked section also offers a huge selection of local flavors. If you're planning to cook a hot pot at home, look no further. You can buy all the pre-sliced meats, seafood and veggies here. Just boil a pot of water and you're done. The only disappointment was they didn't have a fresh bakery department. They did however offer pre-packaged baked goods. If you like shopping in a clean and organized supermarket that offers a huge variety of Asian products, then this is the place to go to. read more
