Brought my Jag in for a coolant leak on Tues. Owner Jim called the same day and advised water pump was the source of the leak and that he could get the part the same day. I would pick it up on Wed. I called twice on Wed and left VM, no response. I drove to Jim's shop and it was closed. The next day I returned and he stated he did not open on Wed because of appt but he did not update vm. He said the car was ready and he would take it for a test drive. As the car was in the shop with the motor running, I observed a stream of coolant leaking. I left and he called a few hours later and stated he needed to order a small pipe behind the water pump, he tried using the existing one but that was a failure. On Friday he called and advised the leak was from plastic pipes under the supercharger. I told him no additional work and to get the car ready for pick up. Sat morning Jim advised the car was ready. I arrived a few hours later and paid in full. My car was parked outside with windows opened, the passenger side was 50% lowered. When I got home, I discovered the garage remote had been stolen. Also, my vehicle registration which lists my home address was stolen. I called Him to inquire and he said he had no idea. He then started yelling and screaming like a madman using the F Word saying I was trying to not pay even though I already did. There has been a string of burglaries in North Cty and Jim is a piece of garbage as a human being and doesn't care he has put me and my family at risk. read more

It's hard to find good specialized service for foreign cars and I thought I had found the place. Unfortunately not. Jim, the owner, is a nice guy but VERY quirky. I've been using him for the other Jaguar I had back in 2004 and had no problems. Recently, however I had been in a collision and went to Jim to revive my cat. All went smoothly (surprising enough) as we tacked the car in chunks. Few hundred dollars here, couple junk yard parts there, and even some new parts. But in our final stint, Jim's old man ways of NO COMPUTERS caught up to him. We had agreed on a flat rate of $1600 before any work was started. My mistake was thinking that he would remember given the fact that it was over the phone. Big mistake. When it comes time to pay he comes at me for $2300. That was not what we said and he wouldn't even meet in the middle. We argue back and fourth and he refuses to make any kind of deal because of his mistake. I ended up paying his number because I needed my car and he was being extremely hard to work with. A day later and the things he was supposed to fix still don't work. I'm outraged. ALSO: BAWARE OF THE FAKE YELP ACCOUNTS JIM HAS MADE IN ORDER TO BOOST HIS RATING. ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF HIS CROOKED WAYS. A couple of months ago my 09 Jaguar FX needed new brake pads and rotors. I took it to a Jag dealer and they quoted me $1500 for just the front. I went to Jags unlimited to get a price for the same work and Jim quoted me $900 for the parts and labor. Now 3 months later I am having the same problem i had before, when I took the car into a Jaguar dealer they told me the front rotors were an aftermarket brand and were completely shot. My husband and I inherited an older Jaguar that hadn't been driven or moved in two years. I had it towed to Jags Unlimited for an inspection and overview of what needed to be done to get it in good working condition. I spoke with the owners wife and confirmed what was to be done. A few days went by and I hadn't heard anything so I called in. I spoke with the mechanic, who wasn't aware of anything but then said he'd look and do the inspection. A few more days passed and I called again, and got the owner. He had no knowledge of what was to be done and said he hadn't looked at the car. A few more days pass and I call back. I'm annoyed at this point. The owner says "What do you want done to the car?" What do I want done? THE INSPECTION. The thing I brought it in for. I explained numerous times we just want to get it running and sell it. He says "I guess I could drive it". So after a week and a half, explaining to three people what I wanted to do, nothing happened. He suggested new brakes, for $2,800. When I asked shocked if it needed new brakes he said "Well, not really, but, what do you want done to it?". I stated that if he couldn't do an assessment, I would have to take it somewhere else, to which he replied "That's fine, when can you come get it?". Worst customer experience read more

I've had a huge problem with this car lately and other shops have not been able to fix the problem. Jim found the problem the day I brought it in and after keeping it for a day, I picked it up and it runs like brand new. Had a great experience with my sweet ride "Ruby J" XJ8... I had a mild transmission oil leak and thinking it's was going to cost me "to the moon and back" with a new transmission. Jim is the MAN !!! Ruby J had a warped transmission pan, replaced, transmission needed more fluid and service... YAAAAA and that was it... botta-bing/botta-boom... it was fixed for under $400.00 and I must say, I left a very Happy Happy Jag owner !!! I took a Jag, Vandam Plus to this this person (Jim) because a freind recommended him to me. He seamed to be a nice person and probaly is a good Jaguar Technician. But here is why I will never use him again or recommened him to anyone. $3,450.00 worth of work, it probably needed it But it was there five weeks, he was closed for one of those weeks, no problem, He told me from the start. I noticed that he had lots of other cars to be worked on and only himself, anyway, jump forward. The day came tp pick up the vehicle, method of payment had been arranged from the start, to be paid by check, I had to start late a couple of days because the mail was late. Finally the check is here, i call to tell him that the check is here and that I will be picking it up in a few hours. Now he tells me that he will not take a check and has to be by credit card only. I arrange for that to happen. Now I gotopick up the vechile and as my assistent starts the vehicle the fan belt is squeling and he tells me that some coolant must have spilled on it. Here I am 5 days later and it will not stop squealing. I just got off the phone with him and he say's that he is not responsible for that happening and will not take care of it. Now that not even telling you about all of the additional dents and schratches all aruond the body and bumpers. We had an estimate indenifying all damage prior to me taking to him for the mechanical repairs. All he say's is that they were not caused in his repair shop, Now, I wrote the estimate the day before I took the vehicle to him. I really beleive that Jim is past retirement and no matter how good he is, he should retire. He did not even wash te vehicle. read more

My last visit at Jags Unlimited is indeed my last. I took my 63 XKE for rear brake master cylinder replacement and a carb adjustment. While at the shop I asked Jim to fix/adjust the ride height. Determined the best approach for this is to change to an adjustable torsion plate. I got a call car was ready. When i went to pick up the car the brake master cylinder was leaking at the brake line fitting (was not leaking there when I dropped it off). I noticed a set of scratches in the paint about an inch wide ( could not buff it out) . Side mirror was broke. He had tried to adjust it to see out of it by inserting a plastic extension but failed to remove it. When i pulled the plastic out the mirror just flopped over. The torsion adjustment must have been too low in the front, car was making a thumping noise under the gearbox tunnel on acceleration. I asked Jim to go for a test run with me and said he couldn't hear the noise. The torsion bar was painted in black when i dropped it off but scratched up heavily when adjustments were made. I pointed out these issues and his best response was to leave the car till next week. I drove there 1 and 1/2 hours to be told leave the car till next week? this is not a professional job and quality was extremely poor. May be you can take your daily driver to be worked on but not your precious classic. I was very disappointed this time! read more
