We took our car to West Automotive in Oceanside and that was a complete waste of our time and money. After having our car for 4 days, they were not able to tell us what was wrong. We originally had taken it in because we had a Stabilitrac Warning Light come on and while driving we had lost power to the vehicle. West was not able to tell us what was wrong with the car. Remembering that there was a Chevy/GM Shop in Vista, we brought our Chevy Traverse to GM Exclusives immediately after leaving West Automotive. Within 10 minutes they were able to provide us with a Code C0161 which indicated that there was an issue with the Stabilitrac Braking System Switch. AMAZING....10 Minutes and we had a code. Anyway, they made the necessary repairs and we have not had an issue since then. We tried to get a refund from West Automotive, but we were told that since the Technicians took our car out for a test drive, they would not refund our $150.00. If I could post 10 stars I would. After 11 years and numerous visits to GMC and Chevrolet dealer ships I was about to throw in the towel on my nice older GMC Envoy. It had an electrical gremlin that would just stop it in it's tracks. Every time I thought it was repaired it might run for weeks or years. Or run for 8-10 miles or 8-10 thousand miles and all of sudden stop running. Very unnerving and dangerous. As mentioned before, three visits, numerous parts, LOTS of money, and weeks of time at the dealerships never solved the problem. They just threw parts at it. Never truly finding the cause of the troubles. GM EXCLUSIVE AUTO SERVICE had great reviews so I booked an appointment. A short time after dropping it off I had a call from the owner Art Montano. EUREKA.....he found the problem. A loose wire/connector buried deep in an electrical harness that grounded the main engine computer (PCM, or Power Control Module) . He repaired the wire and the connector and put it all back together. Starts right up and runs better than ever. A HUGE THANK YOU to Art and his shop for the expertise and tenacity in solving this problem. Art and his shop do a fantastic job at a very reasonable rate. Had some strange issues with my truck. Drop in mileage, loss of power, running cold and no check engine light, so no trouble codes to go on. Was worried about taking my truck to GM Exclusive because these symptoms could be caused by any number of expensive issues. They called to tell me that unfortunately they can't sell me anything since the only problem I have is a loose spark plug. Finding an honest and trustworthy mechanic is like finding gold. This review is way overdue. Three oil changes on my wife's 2003 Chevy Trail Blazer and my 2002 Chevy Silverado truck. Replaced all radiator and heater hoses on the truck. So happy we found Art; over the Christmas vacation some opportunist passerby drilled a hole in our gas tank to siphon out the fuel. First of all, I've inherited my father's Silverado, so the vehicle is special to me. I've taken my truck to Art for everything from oil change and general maintenance to some very specific things like the speedometer and recently, someone tried to steal the vehicle. They took off the shroud around the steering wheel and tried to hotwire it. I feel like I could've been taken advantage of if I had taken it somewhere else. Art was able to repair the damage using what was unharmed and replacing what was broken. I paid less than my deductible.
