Samosa chaat
Judy B.

We had a chance to go eat at Jaipore Express tonight (we've had take-out previously which was also quite impressive) and I wanted to share what a wonderful experience we had for anyone who hasn't yet had the chance to try the food. It was seriously the most flavorful Indian cuisine we've had yet! Service was exceptional as well. We tried a few new things this time: Samosa chaat and wings for an appetizer followed by butter chicken, onion naan, and my favorite lamb vindaloo. Every dish was fresh, complex, and carried the exact amount of heat and spice so that my tastebuds are still singing. The chaat was incredibly flavorful! The vindaloo is quite spicy but the balance of flavors was just perfect. Little slices of ginger added a great dimension. Loved the butter chicken as it was a nice complement to the vindaloo. I'm very glad we have another chance to relive this tomorrow as we had to take out the leftovers. We highly recommend this spot for a great meal!

Samosa chaat

Read about this new Indian restaurant in the news and decided to give it a try. The place is only doing take out right now, but the restaurant is a nice looking place next to Bailey's Backyard in Ridgefield. My first reaction is that the food is good, but not outstanding. I had the samosa chaat, saag paneer and Salmon moilee. Of the three, the salmon was the best. The fish was cooked well and the sauce was rich and complex with many layers of flavor. The saag paneer was merely average. The paneer was a bit chewy for my taste. I felt a bit of sticker shock on the price of the food. Not sure if it is because of inflation or just their pricing, but I felt like they are around 10% more expensive than other Indian restaurants in Fairfield county. I may give it another try to see if my first impression was a bit off.

Delicious rice pudding

So I stopped by Jaipore on my way home from work one evening, because it had been a while since I had enjoyed a nice Indian meal. Since I like food on the hot side, I ordered the lamb vindaloo, which is a delicious spicy dish, and the way it was prepared did not disappoint. it was accompanied by a healthy, helping of delicious white rice, and I also ordered some plain naan. To top off the meal, I ended by ordering some of their rice pudding, which was a nice size & very tasty I will definitely visit them again.

Outstanding Indian food. Best in a 1.5 hour radius. Takeout experience always a breeze.

My husband and I both got tikka masala dishes. He got chicken and I got the shrimp. In hindsight I wish I had tried the Saag just so we could have tasted a different sauce. However, the tikka masala was truly the best we've ever had. And we are always chasing excellent food so we've had our share. The dumplings were great but we would likely opt for a different appetizer as they didn't really blow us away. The service though is really what puts this place over the top. We were in a bit of a time crunch so I'm disappointed we couldn't stay longer and try dessert so we will definitely be back when we can make it down to SoNo again.

Service felt a bit understaffed, our first order took a while, and our second order never arrived. They did try to make it right, but by then we had already been there a couple of hours and the kids were definitely not going to keep sitting and waiting. We also had a small hiccup with the chai tea: it comes unsweetened with sugar on the side, but the sugar was forgotten at first. When it did arrive, there was no spoon and not quite enough packets. The chai itself was decent once we could actually sweeten it. The momos were surprisingly flavorful on their own, with a nice curry spice kick that made them enjoyable even without dipping sauce. The sauces they come with are also tasty, just be careful, as one has a pretty strong heat that lingers. We also had the chicken garlic soup, which was quite tasty with fried garlic chips on top. Overall, good food but service felt a bit overwhelmed that night.

I didn't mind this at all but could see how others may bristle. Food was flavorful with many taste sensations throughout the meal from chats to wings, and butter chicken. It took awhile for us to get our drink orders in, and then another long while to put our food orders in. And the time it took for us to get our momos (over 40 minutes) made us wonder if they were making the dumplings at that moment. It took a long time for us to get our food and I think by the time we got all of our food it was about 1.5 hours, which was very surprising. The slower food prep and service would make me hesitant to dine here again. But the food itself was pretty good. The tikka masala was more on the liquidy side, but the flavors were there, though the chicken was dark meat. The chicken vindaloo was on the spicier side. Everyone enjoyed the chicken korma. The garlic naan came out fresh but was not as warm by the time we got all of the dishes. Overall we thought that the food here is solid and our friends loved this place. We were just surprised at the amount of waiting here as the dishes came out with a trickle. The food here is more expensive than other Indian places and there is a good amount of care put into the food. It is nice that the rice came complimentary with the entrees, and the Indian thin crackers are great too.
