I would go specifically for the decor, it is stunning. I went with my husband and three kids. I had a Gold Old fashioned which was delicious and the cool branded ice cube added a great touch. We had the Bar naan bites which were massive cheese balls with a nice spiced crust, the kids loved them as did we. The kids had the tikka masala and wings which were all quality. Lamb Vindaloo and Sag paneer where very good as well. Portion sizes are not large but similar to other places we have visited. Typically I don't care for Indian food, but my wife and mother in law really wanted to come so I went along with them. We started with masala shrimp and barnaan bites, both were excellent. Dinner both my wife and MIL had chicken korma which was good. I had the tandoori chicken which was excellently cooked and seasoned, but bone in dark meat isn't my jam and I didn't like the curry seasoning on the veggies. We also had the garlic, peshwari sweet, and cheese naans. Cheese was everyone's favorite. Peshwari was good and surprisingly garlic was everyone's least favorite. Next time I think I'll get tikka masala. The restaurant was very well decorated. It was packed throughout our dinner so I'd think reservations would be wise. While still hidden gem status, as it's still so new that it doesn't even have its own proper website yet, BarNaan is easily one of the best Indian restaurants I've eaten at to date. I've come here about 4 times now and every time I forget to check in because of how excited I am to have their food. What really makes something a five star experience in my mind is great quality and attention to detail and BarNaan goes above and beyond. From the moment you arrive you're greeted by these amazingly crafted pieces from the archway to the inner doors that prime you for the elevated dining experience you're about to have. For food, my go-to has been the medium chicken tikka which is super flavorful and, while spicy, isn't so insanely hot that you can't enjoy it anymore. It's complemented perfectly by the basmati rice that comes with it, and you can't go wrong adding some naan bread (garlic or cheese). Some may look at the prices and question why it's so expensive but not only can you immediately tell the freshness and quality of the ingredients, but they give you such a good helping that it can and does last at least 1 to 2 extra meals! Now thats bang for your buck that's unmatched anywhere else. For the drink I got the purple meringue pie which not only beautifully presented but is absolutely delicious. I normally drink an old fashioned and hate gin, but I ventured out of my comfort zone for the sake of the review and it's true: they can make pretty much anything delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys good food and drinks. read more

Found this place on Resy and so glad we did!!! It's contemporary Indian which is PACKed on a Friday night. Great vibe, amazing bar scene, beautiful interior, very thoughtful details everywhere. So glad we came and it kind of made my day - not very often we try a new place in Brookfield area that's so beyond expectation. I like the food. We ordered too much for 4 people from apps to mains to extra everything. Nothing disappointed. My fav is Saag lamb (you normally get saag paneer or sometimes chicken but rarely with red meat and it's a very interesting mix flavor). Portions are on the smaller side. Price is NYC level. The food was EXCELLENT and the restaurant itself is gorgeous...but tell me why there's one server for every table and we have been finished with our ONE MEAL for at least 20 mins and our dirty plates are still sitting in front of our faces. You would think the bar tender would be a little more aware as well considering he's less than 5 feet away from us at the bar. I'm extremely disappointed in the service after such wonderful food. Do better. Hopefully I'll pay sometime soon! We got here at 2 pm btw and it's 3:30 pm Since I can't seem to add a public comment after the owner replied I will say a few more things that may help their customer service in the future: firstly, I'm sorry for what happened to your server. Unfortunate as the situation was, the bartender could have easily checked in on us instead of constantly wiping the bar down in the 20 minutes we waited for our check...also not ONCE did anyone try to comp anything for the unexplained (at the time) awful customer service...I think customers would be more understanding if a manager came over to check in and explain that a server had to leave due to a medical emergency. Not sure if it was for that day or it's how they cook their dark meat chicken in general, but it should be soft and tender. It was anything but. Fresh Eggplant chips covered with a wonderful sauce and very fresh vegetables, a must try. I surprisingly tried the Loaded Fries as a main, even though far from a traditional Indian dish. Server mentioned it's like Poutine which I remembered as a Canadian comfort food and fries are a vice, not the healthiest but it is a holiday. Wow, was I happy to have ordered this dish, as were my son and wife! French fries covered with great Indian Masala sauce with spice, and of course, stringy mozzarella-like cheese. Gluten free which my wife was happy about. The Chicken Korma was good, traditional and average imo. Same quality as you get at our favorite spot in New Milford. Service was good, they had a person in training which didn't bother us much, yet they honestly could have spent time off-hours showing the basics of how the GUI works on their hand-held terminal. This is customer time and you are charging above average prices so suggest proper basic training away from customers before customer-facing mentoring. We asked for 2 waters yet only received one glass with the nice water carafe they serve. But no biggie. And you are right Kat L, that one bartender did seem like a jerk from where we sat, with his light under drinks and ego. I hope they listen to you as well, it's the people that make a business Great. The ambiance is very nice, modern with a trendy bar (the name), with a very beautiful mural across the large wall behind the bar. Nice job folks! All very clean including their nice bathroom. Others agreed on a 5 star until I just noticed the $8 charge for the 2 additional white rice bowls we needed. The Korma dishes came with a very small bowl of rice so an additional is needed for any average eater. All other Indian establishments either do not charge or charge MAYBE $1 or 2 for additional rice, and those are bigger servings. I realize it is Mother's Day but the service left a lot to be desired. Ordered online for take-out and waited at the bar what I thought would be a 20 minute wait. One hour later I had to ask whether my order was ready and they finally said it was. I get home and one of the entrees was missingf from the order (lamb biryani). I tried calling the restaurant to let them know they should credit me back the missing meal and could not get through. The phone kept ringing busy. Delicious food and great service! Met a friend for dinner and it was already so busy by 6pm on a Wednesday- clearly word has gotten out. We shared the vada paav appetizer and then for entrees we got the saag paneer and the Chana masala as well as lots of naan! Everything was flavorful and I loved the ability to adjust how spicy every dish is. I will say I'll get a little spicier next time but for the first meal we took the safe bet. Have been eyeing this place for quite sometime as I love this cuisine but it's not my stud's jam so had to wait until he was in the mood and last night, he was! Let's start with parking-decent amount of spots around and possibly more behind but did not check. The restaurant is accessible to all without steps which is great. The vibe and decor when you enter really grabs you from color scheme to cute booths and table settings and a beautiful bar with a stunning glass cascading light fixture. We were seated very quickly as well as greeted by friendly waitress. She advised us on the barnaan bites since it came with a tikka sauce and was stuffed with cheese as we were leaning towards cheese naan. We settled for the bites and they were just ok-felt like the inside wasn't cooked enough although they are fried and they weren't nearly as satisfying in terms of taste and texture as the naan that we are familiar with but waitress was so kind, she offered traditional naan on the house. As for main course, we ordered butter chicken and chicken jalfrezi, both come with choice or rice or naan. Our dinners came out pretty quick -the butter chicken is very saucy. We both agreed the dishes were good but felt that they were both missing salt and we are not salt people-we asked for it and had to wait quite some time to get it, while they were jot busy. The chicken was very moist and tender and the dishes were good. The naan was just ok and somewhat flat compared to what we are used to. The rice really had no flavor and basmati rice is generally very flavorful and has a distinct flavor that we didnt find here. We have a spot that we go to near home that we love and unfairly we compared Barnaan to this place. If we had never been to our original find, we probably would give BN 4 stars but comparing the 2, I can't. Would I go back-maybe and I would try a few apps other than the barnaan bites. Staff is attentive and friendly and place is beautiful and the food is made with quality ingredients and you do taste that but for me, I have a better spot that blows this place away but in terms of the brookfield area, this is a better spot than most and for the brookfield area, I would recommend. read more

I am not sure how to put this out there but when you have preset table including plates glasses and utensils they all become contaminated anytime someone walks in . The airborne contaminants are everywhere and there for utensils should be rolled up in napkin , glasses should be turned upside down and NO PRESET PLATES . If you're thinking of using charger plates then do so . The charger plates protects the actual dinner plate from conducting the heat or cold from the table . The preset plates is a NO NO . As for the DAHI PURI - It was executed very nicely but I would rather have tasted semolina instead of flour for the shell . The flour shell was tasteless and the filling was bland at best . Could not taste the cilantro or mint . A traditional DAHI Puri shell is made from semolina if the filling will be prevalent - but sorry to say neither filling or shell had any dominant flavor . Bar Naan bites was way over priced $16.00 for 5 pieces and again deep fat fried in soy oil - what happened to using coconut oils or cottonseed oils ? Again beautifully executed but flavor was lacking . This street food is very popular in India served with a tangy yogurt sauce but was lacking characteristic of a potato pillow . As for the other 4 dishes served in a soup bowl only to be added to rice in a preset dish waiting on the table . Curry chicken $23.00, madras mix vegetables $22.00, Saag Lamb $24.00 & butter chicken were all delivered in a drowning of sauce with only 5-6 ounces of protein in the meat dishes and maybe 7 ounces of vegetables in the madras . All dishes were tasty and delivered the hot , profile of Indian cuisine but could not understand how they come up with these prices ? It had to of been 18-25% food cost across the board . Yes , you leave there hungry and running off to Wendy's but the rice and sauce were left behind since there was more sauce than protein . Once again , portion control to run yourself out of business . Bianca was an excellent waitress and didn't miss a beat . She explained most of the dishes and we took her recommendations for most popular dishes and appetizers . For 4 dishes and 3 appetizers we were at $145.00 Plus a generous tip To Insure proper Service ( TIPS) we were content but the food did not deliver . The idea was there , the traditional was there , the preparation was there but the flavor profiles were not .
