The manager told me yes he would give me 50% off I said thank you he went to get the utility knife to cut the mat that I want it and when he retired, he cut the bad part off, rolled out the mat cut 7 feet what I needed and then charge me full price. I snatched my credit card out in barest in front of everybody and told him you just told me you was giving me 50% off. He didn't wanna honor what he just told me so now he said he was gonna throw it away and I wasn't getting nothing since I didn't want to pay full price wow.

There's a lot of practical restaurant related things you can come here for. Whether you run a…read morerestaurant or a small coffee shop, you can likely find the thing you need here. But you can also find extremely itself things for your home kitchen! I needed steak knives. I went to multiple household departments of major store chains, only to find that the only knives they sold were either butter knives bundled with full sets of spoons and forks, or big knife blocks for $70+ that also included many other knives that I was not in need of. So I decided to give a restaurant supply shop a shot. $6 later I had 12 absolutely solid restaurant quality steak knives in my possession. My utensil drawer overfloweth. There was no smaller quantity available, but beggars can't be choosers I suppose. The bottom line is that I can now cook and serve steak for 12 PEOPLE without having to wash a single utensil. Except forks. I think I need more forks now... but the good news is that I know a place!

Maybe it's just back east, but counter guys are usually rude or bang you over the head on material. Derick was the gentleman that waited on me. What amazing service. They didn't have what I needed but got my parts in from out of state within 24hrs. The job got more involved and I need to replace additional equipment. Damon put the order in and I got my Supply the next day. Now I have a warranty issue on my equipment that I just purchased. Same thing Derick got me my parts the next day. Through all the pain in the neck phone calls from us, warranty and multiple deliveries, Derick remained courteous, kind and helpful. If it wasn't for Derick "the mayor of airport way" I would not have been able to complete my project and I am very short on patience which was never even tested in this time critical situation. Thank you DERICK!!!!!!

Pretty much everything else looks the same, down to the aisles. This is the cheapest place in town for food with small exceptions (gluten free bread is cheaper at Franz outlet). They don't require a membership, which is nice when you don't go very often. I think a little known fact is that they also do sell a lot of items that are normal size, so not everything is just huge restaurant sized containers. This is probably not the place for produce for a family/individual, though, unless you plan on freezing it. Some items (mandarins, kale salad blend, grape tomatoes, etc.) come in small enough portions, but most are way more than you'd be able to use before it went bad, and not all veggies and fruit survive being frozen. Watch closely for price tags. I've seen many items listed at unit price and other identical tags right next to them for similar items are per pound. If you have the time to make multiple stops for groceries, Smart Foodservice is definitely worth the trip and energy.

This is one of those old-school businesses that has it all. While being specific to the restaurant…read moreindustry, it feels more like a friendly general store than anything else. The staff knows their business inside and out and the banter is relaxed and friendly. I went in there to replace a few pieces of my Homer Laughlin dinerware, you know, that nice heavy off-white china that a lot of restaurants use. I bought my original pieces at thrift stores in Philadelphia, then some more pieces in Raleigh, NC, at a restaurant supply store, and over the years, some of them had gotten broken and I no longer had a full set. With a dinner party of 7 people at my house on Friday night, I snapped about the mismatched dishes that I was going to have to put on my table. That led to the little journey from my downtown office to Dick's, conveniently located on 1st Ave just south of town. Anyway, one of the guys behind the counter sized me up, knew that I was new to the store (immediately) and not only asked me what I needed, but in a totally cheerful way took me right to it. And it turned out that in the back, he had half a pallet of one of the pieces I needed, and enough of the rest to piece my set back together. He teased me about only buying 6, saying he'd give me a better price on a couple of hundred... but where would I put them? :-) This store is not really meant for the home cook unless you're serious about it. You have to buy dishes ("smallware" in the trade) in units of 6 or 12, which might be more than you need or want. Still, their prices are really good, especially considering what it costs to ship the stuff if you buy it online! It's heavy, and fragile(ish), so shipping usually costs more per dish than the dish itself... but not so at Dick's. It's a good thing I was in a hurry or I would have been desperate to shop for aprons, knives, mixing bowls and maybe even a tocque (what a conceit!) LOL As it was, I paid my bill and left with a nicely-wrapped box of dinerware dishes. They do have everything, and if you are serious about cooking at home, you should check them out. They are way cheaper than Williams-Sonoma, Sur La Table, etc., and the stuff is meant to last forever and to take a lot of abuse. It won't be as pretty as La Creuset, but you'll get great service out of anything you buy at this store.
