I was really blown away by the selection of teas that they have here. They have a book with their selection near the cashier for you to browse. I was overwhelmed with their options and had trouble picking one as so many sounded so delicious. There is truly a tea for everyone's taste buds. Upon entering they have some of their teas that they sell on display for you to sniff. They also have samples as well for people to try. Staff were very kind and the service was very quick considering how many people were in line. I tried one of their white teas and it was delicious. I'm not a tea connoisseur but you could really taste all of the flavors in the description of the tea. It was very light. I definitely want to come back to try other teas. I really like the ambiance/design of the place. There are many seats for people to study and/or hang out. It was super busy on a Saturday though and we barely were able to get a seat inside. This is a really nice and popular spot in Ballard! I came on a rainy day and it was packed - we almost didn't find a seat and were about to leave but got lucky last minute. I got the seasonal kinako matcha with soy milk - the drink was pricey at over $10, but that's almost the standard nowadays. So... ginger matcha latte anyone??? I came here by myself on a Saturday evening just an hour before they close, and walked into a strong tea smell, and a very calm and soothing cafe space where the tables and floors looked like they was made of hardwood floors, only in a much lighter wood color. They serve a ton of teas, chais and (matcha) lattes, and I decided to get something that one of my friends didn't have a high opinion on: the ginger matcha latte with oat milk. Nothing to say about service for my visit here, though. First sip of this and I was like, "Yes, the matcha is there and it's pretty strong." Then came the ginger part, and I was kind of surprised. Normally I'd expect matcha to be sweet or bitter, but never have any spice in it like for this drink. Despite all of that, I didn't quite mind it and actually thoroughly enjoyed it myself. It reminded me of longan ginger tea that I sometimes got back at what used to be Hard Wok Cafe over at Bellevue: sweet in the right sense but also randomly spicy while not being off-puttingly pungent. I also sometimes like to eat ginger upfront when I'm eating anything that could potentially upset my stomach, such as sushi. And I did eat some very spicy food that day. Truly a 10/10 matcha and insane that it's so readily available by the Ballard farmers market. For some reason I assume the shops around an "event" are just tourist traps but NOT the case here! Interior was so cute, great place to hang- though a little crowded on farmers market mornings. Matcha was delish. We first got the latte with one pump simple syrup. I think the full sweetness (2 pumps) hit the mark and they were super gracious about fixing that for me. Staff were awesome, very well informed and kind. The Old Mountain Black Tea with a splash of milk from Northern China Hands is hands down the best combination of tea and milk I have ever tasted. In addition, Miro offers a complimentary tea tasting bar, allowing guests to sample various teas before ordering. It's a fantastic feature! The only drawbacks are the limited seating capacity and the current closing time. Also, the staff are knowledgeable and recommend new tea experiences which create an unmatched vibe like anywhere else! The only complaint I had about the space was how cold it was inside despite it being a hot day. AC was BLASTING, felt like I needed to wear a sweater. It was a good drink, but the coffee flavour did drown out the matcha taste quite a lot. Also, super aesthetic cup. I've been coming to Miro since probably 2014. It is my favorite tea shop in Seattle. Easily the best selection of teas (greens, oolongs, blacks, rooibos, and herbal (get the midnight blue!). The staff has always been extremely kind and helpful from Jeannie down to every employee I have known there. They are even patient when I ask for the gyokuro that needs to be steeped at the lower temperature, and I appreciate that a lot. Anyways, why is there like no art on the walls? It is so nice when there is art on the walls (like when the staff did their own art with the Kate Bush theme). I for one think the current lack of art is worse than whatever happened with the matcha lattes. More art would be so great. I really wanted to like miro tea, but I feel like they fell short out of the two occasions I visited. This tea shop is super popular in ballard, and I really love the aesthetic of it. It would make a really cute place to meet up for a chat, but maybe too loud to study. During my last visit, I ordered their rose ambrosia which is a seasonal drink ($7). It's said to be a sweetened organic matcha with rose jelly. The presentation is so pretty, but the matcha itself is not at all sweet, though the jelly is. In my first visit here I ordered their moon milk (blue drink pictured below) which is chamomile with blue pea flower and lavender tea. In theory, both drinks sound delicious but lacked flavor in my opinion. As my final thoughts I think the presentation of the drinks and cafe are way better than the drinks. It starts with masters of the craft, sourcing high-quality teas and making masterful and innovative blends that don't need anything added to be perfect. I've never seen a tea shop so skilled at what they do behind the scenes curating tea, blends, tea drink menus, and a tea shop experience. The tea itself is enough to make this a must-visit in Seattle, but that's just the beginning. They also have a lovely curation of tea goods to choose from that have everything someone new to tea needs as well as some pleasant surprises for the experienced tea drinker. They have candle warmers for teapots which are perfect for big brews to keep the tea warm without keeping it scorching hot or too cold. I don't know why I never thought of that! And the shop itself is divine. You can order any of their huge selection of teas by the pot or even for a gongfu experience where you steep and drink tea in multiple brews to see how it evolves over time. The drink menu as well is a blast, from an 'orange creamsicle' nitro drink that takes the natural orange creamsicle notes of one of their roobios teas and tweaks it to be this lovely balanced and super smooth experience that always leaves me coming back for more. But my absolute go-to is the juniper bay leaf syrup jasmine tea latte that is a feast for the senses: nuanced, floral, just sweet enough, really special. They also always have new seasonal drinks they're testing out that are crazy interesting. And they have traditional japanese tea cakes (wagashi) that pair amazingly with the tea, highly recommend when they're in stock. read more
