We had a big group that they accommodated last minute, about 13 people on a Sunday night for dinner. It wasn't busy at all which was nice. I enjoyed my chili and my husband enjoyed his burger. I ordered the perch and it wasn't very tasty to me. It was listed as hand battered, but there was really no batter to it. It needed more seasoning and tasted bland. I ordered with a side of tater tots and you could never go wrong with tots. Next time I eat there I would definitely try something else. The service was kind and attentive though! read more

I am not sure how this place stays open. Posted on their menu is a message that they now include a 10% surcharge for each item you order (for economic hardship reasons - really!). My husband had a reuben sandwich and it was $17.99 plus his side which we thought was included (onion rings (about 4) this was an additional $4.99. I had a salad ($14.99) my son had wings ($14.99) and a side of fries ($4.99) - our bill was $77.00 I don't mind paying for good food, but this bar food was not worth it. I like this bar and the staff is great! However, the food has declined over the years. We each ordered a chicken bowl today. Got a wing bowl, which is different. Run and don't look back! Two friend and I went out for drinks and wanted to try this place since I recently moved to the area. Seemed normal at first. As I was getting to the bottom of my drink (crown on the rocks) I noticed what appeared to be cigarette ash on the bottom of my glass. I politely called the waitress over when she assure me it's just stains in the glass and not to worry about it. I finished my drink only to find I was drinking out of someone's ash tray. When I asked for management and told them we weren't pay by for our drinks. Management told me we would be paying for our drinks and the best they can do is refund me my drink only. Neighborhood pub, feels like a sports bar. Even though they're operating at 50% occupancy they were full for lunch. I decided to try something simple, like chicken strips with ranch. Ok. So we came back post COVID. our original destination was closed and we didn't want to be driving all over the place. So I reluctantly came back. I'm glad I gave this place another shot. This time we sat at the bar, which did seem to make a difference. The bartender was very sweet and quick. There were a lot of regulars there tonight and everyone was very friendly. The food impressed me this time. He got a Buffalo chicken wrap and I got a crispy chicken salad. Both were delicious. I was a bit disappointed with their beer selection. I'm not sure why you'd have two IPAs on draft when you have a limited selection. Don't get me wrong. We both love IPAs, but I find them to be more of a summer beer. As a craft beer lover that was disappointing. Another thing I will point out is that none of the staff were wearing masks correctly. They either had it on around their chin, or their noses we're sticking out. The owner came out and didn't have one on at all and the kitchen staff did not either. Now, I'm not the mask police but I wonder what other guidelines aren't being followed? Honestly, I don't feel at risk from servers because they are not hanging around in front of you for 15 min. I feel more at risk from other patrons who are sitting near you the entire time. Anyway, I only point this out so that if people are uncomfortable still, this may not be the place to go. read more

Every year I take my best friend out for his birthday. We typically go for Middle Eastern food, but that day we were in the neighborhood and he suggested we check out this new (to us) pub. We came in at 2:00 p.m. on a Sunday. The restaurant was close to, if not a bit over, half way filled. There was one (1) server on the floor taking tables! Ummmm...I don't know if this was a off day (meaning they typically are not that busy on Sundays at that time of day), if someone called in sick, or if they usually only have one server on, but for whatever reason there was one server on, and service was horrendous. At this point I must say that the server interaction (when she had time to actually stop by the table) was okay, and had hints that it would have been great if she wasn't so overwhelmed, and I almost gave two (2) stars because of that, but alas I could not. I've worked in the industry long enough to know that she could have spoken up from across the room to say, "Everything good guys," or something like that. Anything would have been better than to be ignored for as long and as many times as we were. But, I do concede that having her alone on the floor with just one bartender couldn't have been easy. That being said, our server didn't come to us for over 10 minutes. If it wasn't for the fact that we were "celebrating" my dude's bday I would have been out like a scout on a new route. But, because we were kicking it, I tried to remain as calm as possible. After she finally came over she procured our drink order, which took nearly another 10 minutes to arrive. She couldn't even stay to take our order. When she returned (another 8 minutes or so) she took our order. Those of you reading a Cosimo review for the first time may not be aware, but when I go out, especially somewhere new, I order a lot of things off of the menu in order to give the place as thorough of a review as possible. So, we ordered a Cheeseburger, Cajun Grouper, Chicken Quesadillas, Hot Soft Pretzels, Fried Cauliflower, Potato Skins, and Fish Tacos. Before she vanished into the bowels of the edifice, not to be seen or heard from for another 10-15 minutes, I instructed the server to bring out the dishes as they became available from the kitchen, and NOT to worry about bringing them out together. Did she do that? No. No she did not. After having ordered our two-man feast the only thing we saw resembling our sever was a black blur rushing to-and-fro throughout the establishment. She did not return for just over 40 minutes. Forty. Fucking. Minutes. I don't care HOW busy you are, you at least walk by and say, "Need anything? Go fuck yourselves," every 12-15 minutes! But whatevs. We received our food, and as my photos will surely suggest, everything looked dope; however, whoever said a picture is worth a thousand words was an idiot, because while the photos I took look good (don't hate), the food was most certainly not. The pretzels, while hot, were deep fried and had so much salt on it, eating it was like swallowing a deep fried salt lick, and while I may have ordered enough food for an elephant, my friend and I are most certainly not elephants. And the spread that came with it? All you could taste was spiciness and MAYBE a hint of mustard. I had hoped for homemade pretzels, but they were obviously frozen and fried, so it was a disappointment. Also a disappointment of the wholesale bought variety was the cauliflower. Again, what could have been an easy win was another let down, because of the obvious frozen cauliflower deep fried to shit. It was the 3rd most tolerable dish, but still not worth the time waiting, the money or the calories. The potato skins, surprise surprise, was another frozen dish deep fried to holy hell. Again, homemade skins is such an easy thing for restaurants to make, and I couldn't believe they missed the ball on this. Topping frozen food, which is deep fried way too long, with fresh ingredients (scallions and diced tomato) does NOT make this dish homemade. It make it laughable and infuriating at the same time. The Fish Tacos was another huge let down. I've avoided fish tacos for years until very recently, where I had a string of great fish tacos at a few locations (reviews to come), but Jake's tasted exactly how I expected fish tacos to taste when I avoided them for so long. And the cook left plastic of some sort on the bottom of one of the soft tortilla. YUCK! The Chicken Quesadilla was decent. The best I can say is that it was better than Taco Bell, but NOT as good as the one I recently had at Emagine Theater. If you're a restaurant and can't beat a movie theater's version of food, you've got issues. The burger came about 15 minutes after everything else. The server said she didn't forget to put that order in, but there's no way that's true. It doesn't take an hour to cook a MR burger. My boy said the Grouper was okay at best, so what does all this mean. Stay away from here! read more

VERY disappointing. First thing we arrive at 5:30 PM only two tables. Which was really good which we thought we would get quick service. Unfortunately our food did not arrive for an hour and a half The waitress was extremely slow and did not notify us that there was only one cook I forgot my water and coffee that I had ordered Wrong with messing up on a few orders club sandwich on Texas toast on a two slices of bread. The chicken wings were raw in the middle. The Reuben sandwich was supposed to have coleslaw not sauerkraut and the grouper was cold once it was served Bringing this to someone's attention to the manager and the Lady have walked over and apologize. There were several tables they were in and out way before us However they did take care of our whole bill. Plus gave us a $25 gift certificate for us to try them against we will wait about six months and maybe call ahead to make sure they have proper staff to handle their customers. Very disappointing. Major disappointment. I live less than 1/2 mile away and want something close to home, it won't be here. That said the previous owner cared nothing about the customer(s) experience and now the new can't get his kitchen to cook and service still sucks. This place has had every opportunity to impress me and consistently has failed. Our most recent time was two weeks ago when the wife and I dropped in on a Friday night. The place was busy and we either had to wait for a table or sit at the bar. Our bartender was quick to take our drink order (this never happens here) and we got a food menu. While looking over the menu, the couple next to us (older like 70 something), says 'your going g to order food? Don't the food sucks'. WOW! How does one reply? Well, I said it had been a while since last in, due to very poor service. Heard there was a new owner, maybe it was better than previous times here. Her reply 'dont count on it'. Well, our food came out, mine was ok, a burger. My wife ordered a Veggie burger. The waitress when delivering wife's food said, I know it's not what you ordered but the cook gave you a lettuce wraps with tomato. Of course we sent it back for what we ordered. I had an interesting experience with this place but all in all impressed with the way it was handled. It was St Patrick's Day, probably their biggest day of the year. We just wanted to bring food home, I was hesitant ordering food because I knew how crazy business would be for them that day. I went online and ordered, I noticed they didn't say"pickup orders unavailable" for the day like other Irish bars, so I figured it would be ok. I ordered our three entrees and figured if there was an issue I would hear back. Didn't hear anything and saw my order was received so I went to pick it up after 25 minutes. When I arrived the bartender asked if I ordered online and then kind of looked worried. She told me there was a limited menu for the day but would check. It turns out two of the three entrees I ordered were not available, so I ordered two others from their special menu. I knew now I would have to wait longer but no big deal. A few minutes passed and the bartender returned looking worried. She genuinely apologized and said 2 items I ordered from their special menu just sold out. She felt so bad and kept apologizing. She offered if I want a refund, but I knew at this time it had been 40 minutes since I first ordered and by the time I'd go anywhere else I'd have to wait. So I ordered 2 more. She made a suggestion I was hesitant about but I ordered anyway. The wait continued. They were very busy and I tried being understanding. The bartender felt bad, she kept coming to check on me and offered me a beer on the house. I wasn't looking for a free beer , I understood the chaos of the day, so she said atleast have a Coke. After another 15 minutes she handed me the food and apologized profusely again. On the drive home, after the long wait I just kept thinking to myself I just hope the food is good. If the food was bad it would make the situation worse. But we had the grouper, the Reuben Mac and cheese and Reuben flatbread...it was good, especially the grouper we were really impressed. First time at this place. Initial service was good. Drinks we're prompt. We ordered an appetizer, it came 30 minutes later. When we ordered our main dish, it was 40 minutes. The waitress was not knowledgeable of the menu. The menu stated generous proportions, not true. Horrible. I have been going here for 10 years and spent a lot of money here. Went in for dinner and was told they were at capacity no problem I understand. I gave my name and phone number as asked and waited. No problem. Watched 6 other people just walk in sit at the bar and order. Person that told me they were at capacity and who took my info looked at me and was like "nothing I can do". So I left as more people leaving and still after 2 hours not a phone call saying we could come in. Sorry but if your going to enforce something do it but but do it right. Live in the area and finally decided to stop in on a Saturday around noon. There were a few people seated at bar when we arrived. We sat at a table and were only ones sitting at table. Place looked clean and menu options were good. Waitress appeared to only be able to carry a few drinks at a time and forgot 2. Took forever to get our meals and they brought them out In batches and then kept bringing duplicates out to those who already had their food. Burgers were over cooked and crunchy with grizzle. Mashed potato balls were the best part of the meal and soup was good. Cannot say we will return. Waitress kept blaming the cook saying it was a new cook, but waitress was not on top of things neither. Finally had to ask for our bill and 4 carry out containers and was not surprised she only brought 3 containers. read more

First time visit to Jake O'Malley's, definitely will be back. Great lunch special to get a 1/3 lb burger with fries for $5! The rodeo burger was ordered by my friend and he absolutely loved it. We didn't have any of the beers but they had some excellent specials and cheap prices for the beers. The pub has some dartboard games and a few other entertaining items like Golden Tee as well as some TVs for watching a game or various other types of sports or news. The location and pricing make this a great find for lunch or dinner. Can't wait to go back sometime. read more

My recent struggle is with the food.......ever since the new management took over, the food has been, well let's say, not up to the previous history!!!! We have been visiting Jake O'Malleys since it opened & the food was awesome!! In fact, so awesome, I had my husband's 50th Birthday party there and they presented the best food ever!!! My friends and family raved about the food for weeks!! A year later, my husband threw my 50th Birthday party, under the new management, and well.....let's just just say the reviews were definitely not the same!! The Corned beef, despite being Wiglys, was over cooked, and COOKED IN THE MICROWAVE first of all. the freaking mashed potatoes were terrible, not enough, if there even was any garlic. probably just heavy cream and crushed potatoes. Have been here twice now on Fridays for fish and chips. As a family of 5 (kids all under 6) the service has been spot on and fast. We had Jenna both times and she has been great dealing with kids. First time there, they had to fix a kids meal and had it handled before we even new it was a problem. Worst bartender/server ever. Claims to be an Irish bar but server did not even know Irish whiskey. Ordered Tullamore Dew (Irish Whiskey) on the rocks. I could clearly see the bottle sitting behind the bar. Server tells me they do not have it. I explained that I saw the bottle from where I was sitting. She asked me to describe the bottle so I did. I watched her go behind the bar and begin to pour a glass or Dewars which is a blended scotch not even an Irish Whiskey. I got out of my seat and walked to the bar to tell her this. She tried to convince me that because she already poured it I should take it so I would not get charged. I told her she was not charging me for what I didn't order. Sent them all back. 3 dinners came back hot. Last dinner showed up 25 min after. Waitress was flaky. She said she brought dinners up right when they came out, I.e. first cold round. We've visited here a few times. The food is consistent, just not great. Today we tried nachos, at the suggestion of the bartender, and what we got was a taco salad. Served in a bowl, few chips, lots of lettuce and tomatoes. Poor presentation for eating. Other food choices have been ok, nothing spectacular. Service is usually good for the most part. We have been here as few times and the last couple of times, the service AND food has left more than to be desired. Why are the servers trying to be bartenders by making their own drinks? We went with another couple yesterday for cocktails and appetizers. Our server was very slow, timid, and obviously was not in the right line of work. When our friend wanted to order a margarita she said they didn't have any! What?? Pretty sure she had no clue on how to make one (considering servers are supposed to make drinks too), but seriously??? Then we ordered three different appetizers (cauliflower, mushrooms, and cheese balls). They were all terrible. Over cooked and no flavor. Our server didn't ask if we wanted any dips, we had to ask for plates, and after dropping and dashing, we never saw her again. We even waited patiently as we watched all of the staff in the reflection of the window eating behind the wall leaving all of the patrons to wonder if they vanished for an impromptu staff meeting! Needless to say, when we finally saw a sign of life again - we had to go up to the bar to ask for our bill - and no, she didn't ask if we were splitting the bill or all on one. So, my sister paid for all four of us to expedite the situation. This was by far the worst experience we have had here - and my sisters first and last I'm sure. After our one drink and horrible food, we left (without anyone acknowledging our departure) and went to another establishment to spend our hard earned dollars! Did I mention when we arrived a family of four was complaining to the hostess and the table behind us as well.
