I have no idea why the place is only rated 3 stars. The prices here are reasonable for the quality. My boyfriend loved his cheese steak. The pub roast was just what I needed, warm and hearty. It was just what you would expect from a pub roast, although I didn't personally care for the roll. The baby carrots were soft (but not mushy) and tasted amazing. Decided to try this location, not my first time coming to Hamlin pub but for this location it was. Went on a Wednesday and they have trivia bingo going on. Got seated right away and staff was friendly and place was clean. The food was good will have to try other items when I go next. I have come here many times before ordering many different things on the menu with no issues. I ordered the steak bites appetizer for the first time today. I got a carry out and what I received was disgusting. The steak bites were sitting in a pool of butter? I have no clue. The steak bites were unseasoned with no "Cajun" seasoning like described online. Also for the price of $17 I was expecting to get a slightly bigger portion but that wasn't my main issue. To put it lightly they were unseasoned steak bites sitting in a pool of butter and there was no zip sauce included. I couldn't even eat them because all I tasted was butter. read more

Stopping by on a Wednesday, we got to pick our seat. The server showed up quickly and took the order. A massive, 32 ounce Sam Adams Cold Snap cost $9. The Blue Thunder wasn't blue (more like purple), but it was good. Also $9. The food was ready reasonably quickly. We got the shrimp potstickers, which were deep fried. Served with a mild spicyish mayo and a bulgogi type of sauce. I would rather they didn't deep fry them - too much crunch to them - but they were good. I got the shrimp jambalaya, and really didn't expect much from a pub with so many things on the menu. But, it was really good. I compare all Cajun dishes things to what I've had in New Orleans, which is a pretty high standard. But, this does compare favorably. The shrimp are perfectly cooked and sizable. There's a solid Cajun seasoning level, and the rice is cooked properly. No sausage, which I expect a jambalaya to have, but definitely tasty. The bourbon glazed salmon was very good. It was cooked properly and it was flavorful. The bed of rice underneath was a good accompaniment. It was served with mixed root vegetables that were mushy and tasted odd. But, my wife ate every scrap of the rest of it. The Hamlin Pub also has televisions everywhere you look. This is a great place to watch a game. I think some people judge this place too harshly. This isn't a James Beard award winning restaurant, so don't judge it that way. The food is good. The food and drinks are reasonably priced. The service is good. Temper your expectations, and you will find something to like here. read more

Food was excellent. We had a table of 10. Waitress Megan was very patient with us and our 4 kids. Always kept our beverages filled too.

I got a recommendation from a friend who had a great experience with gatherings here. We contacted Theresa who is the event coordinator and got some basic information about room sizes. We went to the restaurant to view the largest room and were very pleased with the setup. Theresa was a delight to work with. She answered all our questions and sent the menu choices by email. We made our selections by phone. I had never eaten there, so for me, it was a leap of faith. The big day came and things couldn't have gone smoother. We sent it up as an open house, thinking people would come and go and the food would be available throughout the open house. The food was put out as agreed and the people came, but didn't leave! We had a full house. Everyone was enjoying the food and we had an open bar in the room. The service was impeccable! Caitlin worked behind the bar and Theresa herself was our server. When a plate or a glass was empty, it disappeared as if by magic! Theresa was her ever pleasant self. A number of friends and family commented how much they enjoyed the food and were aware of the excellent service. Saying they would keep Hamlin in mind for their future events. My grandson is allergic to tree nuts. They made up a special box with an assortment of fresh baked cookies, just for him. The four hours passed in a flash. We had to let our guests know that our time was up. It could have easily gone on a couple more hours! We had kids of all ages and some of the parents took the kids in the bar area to play games. That was an added benefit. All in all we couldn't be more pleased. Not only will we go back but we will tell everyone we know to go there as well. We went for a little bit to eat and the food and service was good but the chairs and tables were uncomfortable because they have no padding on them only hard wood seats so after sitting for a while we couldn't wait to leave. Too many other places in the area that have comfortable chairs and seats to go back until they put some cushions or padding on the chairs. While the service and food was good they need to improve the place. read more

I'm usually at the Rochester Hills Hamlin Pub location, but was out on this side of town and starving, so I swung in to get a bite to eat on a Friday night. It's set up exactly like the one I normally go to, which is awesome. Sometimes I don't feel like venturing onto Hall Road if I don't have to, or wait for a long period of time to get seated, so Hamlin Pub was awesome for not having either of these issues. I chose to sit at the bar since I was alone and checked the menu to see if anything was new or different. I usually get the Pub sliders, since that's my go to dish. The only specials they had for Friday was fish, and I passed on that since I'm not really interested. Food came out and was tasty, but I wish I had ordered the sweet potato fries instead of the regular ones. No big deal, but hey, maybe next time. The bartender was friendly and helpful, and got me everything I needed. Yes, they were busy, but I was kind of in a rush to get in and out. Great local hangout. We haven't been here in years and we decided to check out their happy hour. Lots of Great food choices. Prices were awesome. The drink specials were definitely abundant and very affordable. It also happened to be a Tuesday night, which is the burger special all day. You get a burger/fries and a beer for I believe $7.99. Unbelievable. It was good too! Ww sat up at the bar and had great service. Place was very busy. We went back Friday night to meet up with friends. I will never go to Hamilton Pub ever again by far the worst bar!!! We made reservations in advance for two tables so that our group could celebrate five birthday parties together. They told us to be there by 8 pm and get there at 7:45. To find out they had no reservations for us. Okay, so you would think if you're manager and our party of 40! You would do what you could to make the group happy they did the exact opposite luckily, we got one table but then had to wait for over a half hour before the waitress came to take our orders, then had to wait another 15 mins before getting a drink so with the slow service a lot of our group was forced to go to the bar after that the manager said we had to order from the waitress whom decided not to serve us after the first set. Finally, our a bill for $28, and I gave her a $50 bill, and she never gave me my change just took the money and disappeared for the whole set. At this point, our party decided to go somewhere else; as we were leaving, the day manager came up to the bar to say she was sorry and said she had written it in the book. I explained in detail to the night manager it was a hella celebration, and he knew about it. So in my book, sorry, just don't cut it when a so-called manager blatantly treats their customers like crap. 11/19/22 Saturday evening. The messed up part was the weather; it was whiteout weather conditions when we left. But it was better than wasting another minute there. read more

Attended a birthday there, asked about allergies to nuts and shellfish, and they sighed and were bothered by us asking. Had no information and were clueless. So first let me paint the picture- I have had a long week, work has been busy and my endometriosis was really bad. I just spent 3 hours in my Doctor's office and the only true solution at this point is to remove my uterus. I'm 31 & married and could never have kids but this closes the door for good. So I'm emotional but I was going to visit my mom for dinner. Given it's a Friday evening, everything was packed so we decided Hamlin Pub. I ordered a pop & she got a beer. I ordered buffalo sliders and she got hamburger sliders- I don't eat meat other than chicken or turkey so I will always order chicken at a restaurant. My food tray was so sad- I had a stale bun with gross lettuce and a nugget covered in buffalo sauce. Never mind the lack of fries and no pickles. I was just drained and hungry. Then I bit into raw chicken. RAW. I can look past most things but raw chicken - first how disgusting but you can die. Like boom all that work in life and you die because some dumb ass can't cook a chicken nugget. And the manager only apologized to my mom, never offered any other option, threw some $5 coupons at us and took my meal off our bill. Still paid for my pop even though I only used it to clean my mouth of the raw chicken. I don't want an apology, I want to know what you are going to do moving forward so no one else has this happen to them. Luckily I didn't ingest any of the raw so I didn't get sick but someone else may not be paying attention especially if they are drinking. Do better and take ownership. Learn a lesson and never let this happen again. And yes, I will be reporting this restaurant to the MI Department of Health. And, no I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Had reservations. Reserved a small side room for dinner. Arrived a little early. No waitress. Had to get our own drinks from the bar. Bartender too busy chitchatting to wait on us. Took forever to get a drink. Waitress arrives at work exactly at the time of our reservation. NOT HER FAULT. She takes our orders. And then we wait. Our food came out of the kitchen one meal at a time. Some people never received their food. AGAIN, NOT THE WAITRESSES FAULT. Where was the manager? We wanted to watch the football game. We've been coming to the Hamlin Pub at 22 Mile and Hayes for years, especially on Tuesdays for their burger and beer special. Great burgers, cold beer and excellent service. However, tonight was quite disappointing. The burgers were nearly half the size they used to be and tasted like the frozen burgers from Sam's Club and were overcooked on top of that. To be fair, they had posted on the door their limited menu due to the shortage of help, and that would be understandable, except that hamburgers were still one of the four items listed. Hopefully, Hamlin brings back their thick, juicy burgers soon. read more

Came here last night with friends for the Thursday night trivia games they have here. Also noticed they do have music bingo on Wednesday's. The beer selection was great with plenty of craft brews available as well as usual domestics. The trivia questions were pretty good. The play was a bit slow but allows good time to visit with friends. Atmosphere was much like the other Hamlin Pubs iv been in. Typical bar scene with a family friendly touch. Good spot to get together with people. Not too loud or distracting. read more

This is your typical Irish pub. Nothing fancy. Would like to see some more specials but overall this is your typical "watering hole" type of place. I have only had a Reuben here which was ok but nothing to write home about. Service is as expected. They do have live music which is a plus. read more

Conveniently located in a strip mall with bountiful parking, this pub is quite large and can accommodate large groups for lunch or dinner. The menu choices are quite extensive and many are unique to this establishment. The pizza tasted rather bland compared to pizzas offered at the more popular big-box chains. Came here at around 6PM on Saturday night. The place was practically dead. I think there was a few people at the bar and two tables. And another table of employees, that were seemingly just sitting around. Yet, we still sat for 10 minutes being stared at by the wait staff before being approached by a waitress who said "I came here for a drink before my shift and they forced me to clock in and take your table". I was a little taken aback by the honesty, just seemed a little rude. We ordered drinks, 2 bottled beers and a Moscow mule. 10 minutes goes by and the waitress is no where to be seen. Needless to say, we left and went to cicarellis. Not to mention, their menu is about 1/4 of what's on their website. Wasn't expecting a 5 star experience here, but at least an attentive waitress would've been nice. read more

There are several Hamlin Pub locations but I've personally only been to the one on 22 and Hayes. It's pretty big pub with a great bar menu for drinks and food - all affordable prices. I'm not sure if this is every night or not but after 10pm they have $2 drink specials on basic drinks like vodka/sprite, captain/coke, etc. (at least on Wed. nights for sure). Their food menu is pretty hearty too with really good soups to choose from and a little more european style options like their sausage trio platter, reuben sliders, and guiness beef stew (who'da thunk it?) I like that the crowd is a little more mature 25-50 and the place is generally pretty clean - not sticky and grimy like most pubs. They also have a live band/singer on some nights... definitely worth a gander! read more

The Hamlin pub is loud and crowded with suburban Moms and Dads and uppity people enjoying sports events. The food is OK, and service is a bit slow. I will note the experience here is better than you get at (T)his (g)od forsaken restaurant (I)s (F)riggin awful but it isn't far off either. I think Cicarelli's down the street has better food and more attentive service. The beer selection is better here though. read more

Hamlin is great! Heard they have a new kitchen manager, and they clearly take pride in what they put out because the food has def improved in recent months. The servers are always friendly, some of the younger girls just aren't always "on"... takes long for drink refills, etc. Those who I have seen several times are awesome and do a great job. I chalk it up to experience because everyone has to start somewhere. Lots of specials throughout the week, great deals on good food. I'd recommend it to friends for sure. Pretty decent neighborhood pub. Expansive menu and fairly robust beer selection. Experience has that 'local hangout' vibe; you see a ton of regulars and the servers treat them as friends and family. Food quality is a notch higher than you might expect (as they have a dedicated chef) but execution can be a bit inconsistent. If you're looking for a seat for a major sporting event, best come early, as it fills up quickly and people stay for the duration. All in all, a staple destination for a social hour. read more

Went to the 22 and Hayes location Saturday. The chili was so spicy my husband could not finish it. I ordered the chicken fingers with sweet potato fries and, surprisingly, the meal came with broccoli. Pubs are not know for their broccoli, and if you can't do broccoli right just don't do it, take it off the menu. My first serving of broccoli was covered with brown spots and horribly overcooked. I could have made mashed broccoli with my fork. The waiter took ti away to show the cook and brought out another plate Fewer brown spots but still overcooked. Just don't do broccoli if you can't do it right. The service was okay, possibly understaffed. read more

Went to Hamlins for dinner with my three boys. They were under staffed with only one waitress. Received our drinks on time. Waited an hour and food hasn't been served as we watched people who arrived after us get served. Asked the waitress on the wait time and she said five minutes. 15 minutes passes and it's obvious they forgot about us. I then cancel our order and she claimed our food was ice minutes away. I told her that I couldn't in good conscience give them my business as we've been there for over an hour and fifteen minutes without any consideration to us. She comped us our drinks but was never approached by the manager. Will not go back again unfortunately as I don't feel our business was appreciated. read more

I will preface this by saying the food was great. However, the service is fully driving this review. We went on one of those bus tours and with that, you get a 20% discount. So, we went there after the bus, it was late on a Thursday, around 10:30pm when we got back. Only a few tables of people and a handful at the bar. Firstly, after getting us our waters (which took a while), we didn't see our waitress for a solid 10 minutes. After she finally returned, we ordered, let her know we were part of the bus tour and that we should get 20% off - to which she replied that was only for before the bus not after (not true, I have the email where it tells us after). After putting in our order it took another 30-40 minutes to get our food, during which we did not see our waitress. After finishing eating it took us another 10 minutes to find her again to get the checks, we ended up asking another waitress and then several more minutes to process and finally bring us our checks. There were plenty of staff there standing around, so no, she was not overwhelmed. I saw her put on her jacket a couple times so I presume she went out to smoke and kept forgetting about us or maybe wasn't interested in serving us because we weren't getting alcohol. Again, the food was great, but I will not be retiring to this particular Hamlin's again. read more
