    CAROLINA BURGER
    Charlie F.

Was very pleased to see a Wayback Burgers during my trip to Tanger Outlets! It has been a couple of years since I visited any location of this chain. I was happy to order my favorite choice, the Carolina Burger. The cashier was pleasant, and my order was ready with minimum wait. My Carolina Burger was awesome - with the chili and slaw toppings, all good flavor, and needing many napkins!

Drink spilled with napkins...the entire time we sat and ate our food.

Came to the outlets and decided to eat here. Coming in the door, the counter is on the back side of the restaurant. No greeting, music, or anything. Walk through to order and see a mess in the dining room. They weren't extremely busy but you should never be so busy that you cannot clean up a mess. Although the aesthetics could have been much better, the burger was good. Fries could use a splash or two of salt. Had to actually salt them ourselves but I guess that is better than over salted fries. Prices, burger was $7.66, fries $3.96, and drink was $2.99. Not crazy prices but not cheap either. They hadn't done a walk through in the dining room because the trash containers were so full people were stacking their bags on top of the trash bin hole. Call me silly but cleanliness is kinda important in a restaurant.

Burger joint in Mebane Tangers mall, and obviously overpriced for the quantity of the food. The pulled pork burger and thE grilled chicken burger was decent as such but I wouldn't pay $9 for a small slider.

Burger joint average I ordered two burgers a Carolina burger and forgot the name but it's a patty melt basically. But their onion rings are really well made crispy and golden. Tried to order on phone app but never went though so had to order when we arrived at the restaurant. Service was average. I think you need to take into account many restaurants aren't with a full staff just part of our times. After Covid this is very typical. As far as the restaurant it's located in a outlet mall there is plenty of foot traffic and people walking around the inside is like most fast food restaurants!!!

Shopping makes me hungry lol. This spot is located within the Tanger outlet...the burgers are pretty tasty! I've tried their chill burger and their Turkey burger. Both are juicy and packed with flavor!

I should've listened to Yelp...what was I thinking? If you are hangry or slowing starving; find another place to eat. I am not sure if it's worth the money to grab a bite from here. I stopped in for a hot dog and chili fries which was a bad idea. I waited for my food longer than I ate. My hot dog was poorly made to the point where everything fell apart. My chill cheese fries was drenched and covered in watery chili. Overall, I prefer to take my $10-12 elsewhere. Unfortunately, I have nothing else to say about this burger joint.

Stopped here for a quick bite and the food was below average. The burger was too soft and lacking a lot of flavor.

Meh. Kinda disappointing, especially for our first experience. 1 star because for the amount of people in there, we got everything in a decent amount of time while it was hot and fresh. 1 star added because the menu was easy to understand when ordering, and last star awarded because there was nothing missing from the order. I feel like 3 stars is generous. 2 stars knocked off for a few reasons starting with the fact that the place was a bit messy. I get they were fairly busy but the floors were sticky meaning that something has been sitting there dried up over time. Also, they could have a wayyy better setup for the lids like maybe a lid dispenser or something of that sort. The young lady who took our order looked like she didn't want to be there and kept looking at us as if she needed us to tell her our order within 40 seconds of us being there which okay sure, we all can't be smiles and giggles all the time and she has a job to do but it is kinda disheartening to people who are going to try something for the first time from your business. Maybe "can I help you with anything from the menu, need any suggestions, take your time, etc?? Their menu has a good variety but the food was not so great in my opinion. The fried pickles were mushy and maybe they were supposed to be but me personally, I like my fried pickles extra crispy and the cheesesteaks were decent, not the best I've had but not terrible either. The fries come plain which is fine but they aren't any better when you dress them up. Definitely not worth $38 for two people... way overpriced. All in all, I can say I tried it but I'll just go to five guys next time as it's basically the same thing for a better experience.

Was looking for a burger joint. Some quick and new. Well this place got my attention. It's small and neat and clean. The food is made to order. So it's definitely a good thing.

Handmade burgers. Fresh made food when you order. Fast, friendly service. Classic Double Cheeseburger.

It was exactly what we expected - a mediocre over-priced burger. The bun was good, the toppings were good, and the fries were once we added their seasoning salt. When I looked for the actual burger, the old Wendy's commercial came to mind: where's the beef? For two cheeseburgers, large fries, and two drinks it was $22. For a quick bite while you're shopping, it'll do.

I agree with a lot of the other reviews. Okay burgers, terrible fries, and jacked up prices. The burger was okay, but the chili cheese fries were not good. They were like McDonald's fries, refrigerated, then left on a counter for two days, then reheated for 27 minutes in a microwave... not good. For a full meal, including side and drink, expect $14-$17 per person.

So when I say the "whole world", I mean it! Bre, one of the servers, and the rest of the staff always take good care of me. The room temperature is comfortable which is a biggie for me. It's a cozy place to hang with family or friends. They are known for their pizza and burgers, as well, but the Cobb Salad is my go to. It is reasonably priced and takes me 2 days to eat. It's love at first sight.

We waited longer to be seated than need be considering it was a virtually empty restaurant. Wait staff was walking around tending to the few tables, but we weren't greeted. Our waitress was nice/friendly, but not very attentive. All the wait staff were wearing (too short) shorts and T-shirts, looking like they just got back from the beach. Husband ordered a burger, medium, with fries. I ordered the ribs with chips and mac n cheese. The food came SUPER QUICK. From order to the time it came out, it couldn't have been more than FIVE minutes. Sadly, the food was just warm, and mediocre, AT BEST! Husbands burger was nearly raw. Sent it back. My ribs were almost cold by the time his replacement burger came out. It took at least ten minutes. This time, it was WELL DONE, and not even juicy. Rather than send it back, he ate it. He was hungry. My chips were over done, the mac n cheese was greasy and slightly clumpy. The ribs were tender, but somewhat mushy, and not super flavorful. I WOULD like to give it another try, hopefully it will be better next time.

We started with the Pimento Cheese Hushpuppies, which I had high hopes for. They were a bit over‑fried and dry, with more breading than cheesy center, and the jalapeño bacon jam was watery and didn't quite complement the hushpuppies. That said, the concept is fun, and with a thicker, chunkier jam, I think they'd really shine. The Fried Oysters, however, were a completely different story. Perfectly breaded, not overly heavy, and full of flavor. My husband--who's keto and peeled the breading off--still commented on how good the oysters themselves were. If anything, we just wished the portion was bigger. The star of the starters for me was the She Crab Soup. Creamy, rich, and loaded with crab. It was one of those dishes you keep going back to between bites of everything else. And here's my pro tip: dip the hushpuppies into the soup. It transformed them from dry to delicious, and I even suggested to our server that the kitchen consider offering them together. For my entrée, I had the Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos with a side of pasta salad. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and the Thai‑inspired sauce had a sweet kick that I honestly wish there had been more of. The pasta salad was classic but surprisingly good--fresh, balanced, and better than most versions I've had lately. My husband ordered the Salmon & Shrimp Scampi, swapping the pasta for extra spinach to stay keto. Both proteins were cooked beautifully, full of flavor, and plated generously. Overall, the meal had a few highs and a couple of misses, but the quality of the ingredients and the creativity of the menu make this a place I'd absolutely visit again. With a little fine‑tuning on a few items, 2 Twelve has the potential to be truly exceptional.

My meal, the Charleston Crab Cakes, was really good too (I asked that they put the creamed corn on the side -- the crab cakes will come on top of the creamed corn if you don't make a special request). But when (not if) we return, I will be ordering the seafood pasta for sure because it was that good! A friend recommended the pork chops and the burgers. The ambience is quaint and the indoor dining space is very small and cozy. There was a bit of a wait when we arrived. I recommend making a reservation if you don't want to dine outdoors. It was January so too cold for us to eat outdoors because there is no heating and the overhead fans were on! Also, please bring a little patience for parking because this restaurant is in an area of downtown with limited parking.
