We have heard many great things about this place and wanted to try it. We walked in and were seated immediately. The place was cozy i guess but relatively small. The waiter asked for our drinks and then didn't come back for a little while. When she came back, we ordered and then proceeded to wait approximately 45 minutes for 3 entrees. The waiter told us multiple times the food was coming out. The food was alright, but one of the items was completely wrong. We were so hungry, and just ate it anyway. I did a mini barbecue tour in Nashville. I stopped at Jakes to try their ribs. The first thing I saw when I pulled into the parking lot was the smoker in the back. I knew I was in for a good treat. They had table seating along with bar seating. I had a table by the kitchen and everyone was really nice. I ordered the half rack of ribs with two sides. I have to say the ribs were cooked well and were fall off the bone. The sauce is on the sweeter side, which is OK with me. Did I tell you the service was great? The staff checked on me and everyone else frequently. When I was leaving and told them I'm heading back to California, they offered to wrap my ribs in foil for the long flight home. Cannot beat that type of service. Casual. Indoor seating. Plenty of parking. Please come and create your own adventure. read more

We stopped by Jake's today for lunch and started off with the fried mozzarella sticks, they were cooked perfectly and the cheese pull on this lovely appetizer was awesome, great marinara dipping sauce too. My wife had the Cuban sandwich and loved it, I took a bite and can agree, the pork was tender and flavorful with ham, Swiss cheese, mustard, pickles on a very good crispy bread. I had the open face roast beef with mashed potatoes and brown gravy, the sliced beef was very good and the mashed tatters were incredible with a nice hint of garlic, the brown gravy was scrumptious, a deeply beef flavored, pepper forward splash of goodness. Our server was very nice, attentive and greeted us with a smile and suggested the appetizer which we are glad we got. Jake's Place has a great vibe, not fancy, but comfortable and nicely decorated with a great local feel. We live in Hendersonville and Jake's is less than 3 miles from our house which makes for a sweet go to place for us locals. Head over to Jake's Place and enjoy the quality food, service with a smile and lots of parking, don't let the front fool ya, drive to the back lot where there's a lot of parking spots for large groups. Found this little place on Yelp and stopped in. Oh my, so glad we did. The food, service, and old country music vibe was all a HIT. Hot chicken sandwich was delicious. The flavor and heat were perfect. My mother had chicken livers and they were perfect. Chef salad was huge and looked amazing. Tried the banana pudding and it was yummy. My husband and I go here regularly. It is a low key Diner but with friendly staff and owners, good food, good prices, and excellent service. Some of our favorites are the ribs (beef and meaty) with their BBQ sauce, fried chicken livers (on the menu about once a month), brisket chili, and the lasagna. In a city that has quite a bit of chain restaurant activity, it takes some effort to find great, local options. Jake's is definitely one of those finds. I have found the south's best banana pudding. It's almost custard like. A little fluffy. Definitely dreamy. I can also highly recommend the Death by Chocolate. It's truly deadly, in the best way. I love this place. If it wasn't for the guy who works at my bank, I wouldn't have known about this place. If you don't know about this place it would be very easy to miss because the outside just looks like some random building. But as soon as you walk inside it is comfortable and inviting. I had the hot chicken sandwich and that thing was seasoned to perfection and tasted absolutely delicious. The person with me had a club sandwich which looked really good and they enjoyed it. The fries are some of the best I've ever had and I've had fries in Europe (which are really good). Seasoned also to perfection and has a level of crispiness that one could only dream of obtaining. The only nit pick I have is that my Mac n Cheese side was pretty tiny and I wish I had more (especially because it was my only side that I was allowed to get). Great local restaurant specializing in home-made good American food. The BBQ is great especially the ribs. If you want a sandwich I recommend the Club or the Reuben. Since they're close to Nashville they have to have a hot chicken sandwich. The Lisa's hot chicken doesn't disappoint. Not too hot but the chicken is fresh and huge. Check out their pizzas or try a special which change every Friday. We go to Jake's at least once every couple weeks. Try them out, you won't be disappointed. read more

We drive by Jakes's Place weekly and have thought about stopping numerous times. Today we found ourselves in town and hungry and made the decision to stop. We had.... Corn Nuggets: the kiddo loved them, the husband said they were too kernel-y while I thought they could have had less breading - so we were split. Good taste though and the aioli was good. Kiddo: double grilled cheese with a side of Mac and cheese. Can I tell you how happy I was that it wasn't Kraft Mac and cheese?? Drives me nuts to go somewhere that has Mac and cheese on the menu but they serve the kid Mac and cheese from a box. Hubby: the Cuban Sandwich - honestly, it was one of the better he has had since we went to a Cuban deli. It had a southern twist to it but overall it was impressive. The onion rings seemed just run of the mill. Me: I had the Firecracker chicken club (a November special) and it was good. All the flavors complimented each other - and the firecracker sauce was a sweet heat and it wasn't overpowering. Loved my batter dipped fries. All of us - we shared a dish of banana pudding and whew, it was the best! It was a fun time taking my in-laws to a new favorite place of theirs. Everyone really liked their dishes. I ate a baked potato with a salad. I was good. Our server was really nice and always keeping up with our needs. It's a nice clean place. There's plenty of parking in the rear too. Sorry no pictures. To busy eating the good food. I only gave 4 stars because they only have those 2 things that I can eat. I have food allergies and eat vegan. I wish they had a couple veggies they could steam.
