French Toast, side of scrambled eggs and real maple syrup and butter!
Laura R.

Great breakfast - worth the wait on a Sunday but there is no "hurry" in any of the staff. There were people waiting to be seated continuously, yet clearing tables was not a priority. Maybe they were short staffed? I had the French toast with real maple syrup and a side of scrambled eggs. Hubby had eggs, hashbrowns & bacon and a delicious cinnamon roll when he was done. Ciah and Amy were great. We were not in a hurry and the food is good so we will definitely be back.

Stopped here for breakfast and enjoyed every bite! Cute little spot, very affordable and the waitress was extremely pleasant. Had fried eggs, bacon, homefries and white toast with one blueberry pancake on the side! I absolutely loved their homemade jelly! Will definitely be back!

The Regular

We stay in the area all the time, but have never noticed this place. Stopped in today for something different. It's a nice diner kind of vibe. Friendly service and excellent food! I had "The Regular" with two eggs, bacon, toast (homemade jelly), and hash browns. It was all delicious and I won't hesitate to come here again next time we come!

Stopped by for breakfast after spending the previous day at Foxwoods Casino. Small cozy diner- friendly staff. My eyes were bigger than my stomach- I knew I had to have the grilled cinnamon roll (yum) but I couldn't pass up the sausage biscuits and gravy (that came with 2 eggs and potatoes). $20 later I had a large spread of food. Everything was cooked perfectly. Many locals- a few visitors like me. Could miss it if you weren't looking- attached to the package store (aka liquor store) next to the Mobil gas station.

Hash Omlet with toast

Found this restaurant on a quick overnight in CT, it's attached to the local package store so it's easy to miss. Jakes serves breakfast & lunch. Open till 2:00 daily, serving homemade food. We had the hash omelet with toast and homemade jelly, and scrambled eggs with toast and homemade jelly which is so tasty. Restaurant is small and gets busy but staff is very friendly and knows the locals. Prices are reasonable and portions are great. Looking forward to going back and trying a few other menu items. They also have the cutest homemade birdhouses for sale.

What's left of homemade corned beef hash and blueberry pancakes

After a trip to Foxwoods we stopped here for breakfast. Did not disappoint! Gracie was a great waitress, even noticing our ice coffee needed more ice. The pancakes were fluffy and delicious. My husband's omelette was delish as well. And the homemade corned beef hash was out of this world. Big chunks of beef with potatoes and a little sliced onion, you can tell was homemade. If you don't want an overpriced meh meal at Foxwoods, leave early and come here. open till 2pm.

Service was great. Forget her name but she was a young lady who was very attentive and polite. Food? Was good, not great where u would want to come back craving it. We wanted to try here bc we've seen good reviews BUT.... We saw rat droppings on the plates when we had asked for some extra plates for the kiddos..... I didn't know until after we left the restaurant but my hubby and my girlfriend saw them when we were given a stack of plates.... If I had seen it or known about it, we would have all left right away... wish they were better about keeping their kitchen cleaner... wanna puke still thinking about how we are from those rat droppings plates....

Cinnamon roll

EVERYTHING DOWN TO THE TOAST I kid you not absolutely everything we ordered here was amazing. The corned beef hash was tender and delicious, the biscuits and gravy were the perfect ratio and the gravy was amazing. My favorite part and a must order was the homestyle potatoes. Absolutely fire- they were hot and crunchy and flavorful. Even the toast with homemade blueberry jam would have me crawling back to this gem. We also tacked on an order of the cinnamon roll and i swear my heart grew two sizes. Last thing, it's a local breakfast place and it's small so expect a line in the morning but I swear the ladies here are turning those tables quickly. Definitely worth the wait and definitely worth the trip. 100/10

Omelet with a hash brown

There was a line when we arrived but it moved quickly and we didn't wait more than 5-10 mins. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We split the cinnamon bun which was delicious! My husband and I both had omelettes, he chose the toast with homemade jam and I chose a hashbrown. We were very happy with the food. Restaurant is cozy and there's plenty of seating.

Hash and eggs, apple cinnamon pancakes, sausage and home fries
Melissa T.

I came here for breakfast after a night spent at Foxwoods. We started our meal by sharing a cinnamon bun, which we both enjoyed. My husband ordered the hash and eggs, while I got apple cinnamon pancakes with sausage and home fries. We were both happy with the quality and portion of our food. This will be our go-to breakfast spot after a casino night!

Homemade corn beef hash.

We were in the area and just searched breakfast places near by. We happened upon Jake's and were pleasantly surprised. The inside is a simple dinner style interior but very clean. The staff greeted us as soon as we arrived. I ordered the banana peanut butter pancakes with chocolate chips. So delicious. I also couldn't resist a side of the homemade corn beef hash. Definitely not disappointed! Glad we found this gem!

Great service, great food! I got a build your own omelette with sausage, spinach, pepper, and onion.

Good menu choices, reliable to 'fill a void '. Omelet was good not skimpy on cheese , asked for crispy home fries and ' got them'.

I actually expected it to be really busy when we got there around 10:45, but there were quite a few open tables. They sat us in a queue table right in the window near the water. I couldn't decide what to get because everything looks so good. I ended up with the Patatas Brava which had soupy in it. I haven't had soup in years and they made it really stand out with the home fries, eggs, and crema. My wife had the basic breakfast, and everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. We ordered an apple crêpe for the table that had caramel and toasted almonds on it. The staff was also great. We had one waitress, but a second one was always there to check on us. The service gets five stars for sure! I wish we had a place like this near our house. Plus the puppy picture name wall was adorable and they name meals after them! Our server was nice and the menu had interesting choices, but sadly they sounded better than what they were. - the scramble was not that great...overdone eggs and I'm not a fan of slapping a square piece of cheese on eggs. I think shredded cheddar would have been a better choice and the crumbly-sausage was an odd choice for breakfast sausage - I was excited they had hash browns but they were premade with garlic powder and came out mushy. They left a lingering weird garlic flavor - turkey sandwich had real turkey breast which was great but it was too hot and made the sandwich soggy - burrito was good but the homefries were burnt beyond repair Lots of parking on the side and front area

Yes, get here early especially in tourist season to beat the crowds, and order ahead if the option is available. They do sell out so check their instagram/facebook first to make sure they haven't yet. My current go to is a plain or sesame bagel toasted with butter and a little hot honey. When I am more hungry, I go for the sweet Lou with no cheese or the Hot Boi with no cheese and cream cheese on the side. The eggs are local and everything is cooked perfectly. The everything bagel is a little too salty for my tastes, but friends love it! My boyfriend is incredibly picky about bagels but if I come home with no bagel for him he gets in his feelings--it's that good. I'm so happy to see The Flour Shop thrive here in Pawcatuck. This hidden gem is already going viral in real life, and after my visit, I completely understand why. Be prepared to wait (the line stretched out the door and wrapped around the building) but don't let that scare you away. It moves pretty fast. It's absolutely worth the wait. And that says a lot coming from an impatient New Yorker that hates to wait. Inside is small and can get pretty crowded, but there are a few outdoor tables if you'd rather enjoy your food outside. Parking was surprisingly easy, with a decent-sized lot. The service was just as impressive as the food. Owner Hannah was wonderful to chat with and clearly passionate about what she's built. Alyssa, who took my order, was incredibly patient and helped me narrow down the menu with fantastic recommendations!! I tried the #3 Sweet Lou on a jalapeño bagel with cream cheese, and it was the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The cheddar scallion bagel with regular cream cheese was light, flavorful, and had just the right amount of crisp on the outside. I also had the Meemers BLT on a margarita bagel, which was absolutely delicious. For drinks, I ordered the Cookie Butter Cold Brew with cold foam and the Banana Bread Latte with caramel and cold foam. Both were incredible and packed with flavor. (I usually don't even like cold brew) From the exceptional service to the outstanding food and drinks, everything exceeded my expectations. The Flour Shop Bagels & More absolutely lives up to the hype and is a must visit if you're looking for one of the area's best breakfast spots. They are absolutely on my list of favorites now!

The GPS led us to a parking lot, with a good number of spots and Nana's was 20 steps away. They do have a patio with a few tables but because it was raining, we went straight inside. When we arrived, there were only a couple parties seated, but by the time we were mid-way through our meal / leaving, the place was packed. Our server helped us with understanding some of the items on the menu and also warned us about some of the iteme they didn't have, like pepperoni, mushrooms, and donuts. With that in mind, we ordered risotto balls to start and the pesto egg and cheese sandwich (baked fresh eggs, pesto, cheddar cheese, lemon aioli, brioche roll) and Dijon and lemon chicken salad sandwich (slow roasted chicken thighs, lemon aioli, herbs, local greens, pickles, and side of fries) for the main meals. The Yaupon iced tea caught our attention since it has indigenous tea with rotating fruit fusion so we ordered one just to try it. The risotto balls came out a little sooner than the other items. We loved the crispy outside, but not a huge fan of the inside since it was mostly risotto with not enough cheese or something to glue it all together. The sauce tasted like a fancy marinara - it was tart, lightly sweet, but a tad acidic and herby too. In our minds, we imagined our main plates looking differently, but I think it was mostly because we didn't do a good job of reading the menu. The pesto sandwich was good. The eggs reminded us a lot of a quiche-spongey and light. It did not have a strong pesto flavor. The roll seemed homemade; it was good and airy. The Dijon lemon chicken salad sandwich was okay. The chicken thighs chunks were tender, and I could definitely taste the pickles, lemon, and Dijon. I think it needed more salt or even something sweet to balance out the acidic flavors. The bread was well toasted. The fries were delicious with the right amount of salt, crispiness, and variety. The iced tea was not our favorite as it tasted overly sweet which might've removed any fruit flavor. The staff was very attentive, they have lots of tables and high chairs to choose from, and lots of natural sun coming through the large windows.
