First time customer. Catalina was our server. I ordered the Baja Fish Tacos. Plate presentation was very weak. All three of my tacos we set on a bed of refried beans. That sucked because I do not like beans. I had beans all over my tacos. I will say the tacos were above average after I scraped off the beans. Happy hour margaritas were okay. The drinks are small during happy hour. Thankfully I ordered two right off the start. Service was just okay, nothing special for an empty restaurant, I'm sorry to say. I definitely expected more from the waitress but she was busy talking with 2 other female staff members at the register. She even admitted it to us on why we could not seem to get her attention for a check earlier. She was busy talking personal stuff with her fellow staff members. Now that's sad! While visiting "The Mom" in Nampa she had a craving for Mexican food and I asked where her favorite place is. She said Jalapenos. A quick check of the Yelp app to find out hours and if this was an okay place and away we went in the mighty Yelpmobile. Jalapenos is located in what I consider the busiest set of intersections in Nampa. It can make getting there a little challenging depending on the time of day. We found a place to park in a parking lot that is badly in need of repaving. The Mom is 86, not too steady without her walker, and the broken pavement made the trip slower than usual. Entering the restaurant you notice there are outside seating options as well as ample indoor seating. It was a hot day in Nampa and thankfully Jalapenos had the air conditioning cranked. We were seated quickly and handed menus. Chips, salsa and bean dip followed in a heartbeat. The menu is your typical looking bill of fare for a place like this. So, I tend to turn to the Specialties area to see what they are known for. The Mom frequents the place, but this my first time. There it was, the dish I judge many restaurants like this by, Chili Colorado. I ordered it as a burrito with rice and beans. Our server was amazing, a young guy, he refer to my Mom as "Mama", she loved it. He went out of his way to explain what fit Mom's dietary restrictions and she ordered her choices (clever way of saying I forgot what she ordered). The other waitstaff were always near with water refills, more chips or salsa, or extra napkins. Everything was geared fast here I was thinking as the food came out with hot plates. Even though the place has a fast pace to it, we never felt rushed. The Chili Colorado was perfectly made, loads of beef, a tangy sauce but not overly spicy in the overstuffed tortilla shell. The beans tasted perfect and the rice was not over seasoned which some places tend to do. Such an enjoyable meal! I get to Nampa pretty often, never passing up a chance to visit The Mom. Jalapenos will definitely be a regular stop. It is close to Interstate 84 so even if you are just traveling through it is well within reach. read more

First visit here and the food is typical Mexican fare, hot plates, refries and rice. There was a good amount of chicken in the tacos, but it seemed kind of bland to me. They have a very good green salsa that helps, lots of flavor and a bit spicy. Best of all, the service was fast! Good wait staff! read more

We have stayed away from this place since the huge price increase during the pandemic and decided to visit once again. We were able to order some lower priced items, although the Jalapeño Burrito was $11.99 before the increase and now it is $18. This is typical of the increases and I still have a hard time paying around $20 for a taco plate +/-. That said, the quality of the food is still excellent. A favorite of ours was the Chicken Nachos with jalapenos and unfortunately this had been taken off the menu. However the owner was there, a kind and accommodating woman and she offered to make it for us, working with our server on how to enter the item. That is outstanding service! So if you don't mind the high prices at least you will get a quality meal and good service. The venue is festive and accommodates larger parties. We love going here. It's not fancy but, it's comfortable. We go in very casual. We have discovered their fajitas, which are excellent. I'm not usually a fajita eater, but I crave theirs. Our waitress is always very nice, so we tried to requester. The margaritas are good to, and everything is made from scratch and homemade. read more

The sauce was just put on the top and no cheese. Not baked either. It was awful! This time I ordered ground beef enchilada and ground beef taco. It was disgusting. Enchilada same as last time only all ground beef, sauce spread on top, not baked, no cheese. The taco was just ground beef, tons in fact and nothing else. So, I pretty much had a plate of ground beef. This is not authentic Mexican food. This was my last time coming here I will be going back to Chapala....They are the best! read more

I have heard mixed reviews from friends and family, but finally after being around for years, I've tried and experienced jalapeños. We were with a huge, reservation and the staff handled everything and everyone no problem! They were all awesome, didn't make any mistakes, and waited on us often. The food and drinks did not disappoint either. I wasn't feeling that hungry so I decided on a chicken quesadilla, and my stomach changed its mind and decided it wanted it all plus more! It was so delicious! The chicken was so delicious, the veggies were flavorful and fresh, as were the condiments (chunky guac). I'm a big margarita fan and the bartender made it perfectly! Not too sugary, not watered down, and great flavor. I had to order another. The environment is festive and cute, and everything including the bathrooms were clean. I have nothing bad to say about Jalapeños in Nampa! This is my second visit and my husband's favorite to bring people for a work lunch. Today we came around 11:30 before the lunch rush and got quick service and great food! It really seems the wait staff work as a team- our waters were refilled, our food was brought out quickly and piping hot, and our check was all taken care of in a timely manner and by a team of servers. We even got a quick refill on salsa and beans, and our waiter didn't charge for an extra side of sour cream! I know that probably depends on the server, but it was a nice bonus to not see it charged on the check. I tried the fajita nachos which come with cheese, grilled onions and bell pepper, and your choice of chicken or steak. I got half and half which the waiter suggested, it was a great choice! My husband got the Chile verde lunch plate which came with rice, beans, and 3 tortillas. The portion was perfect for a filling lunch and the sauce was flavorful- I didn't hear any complaints! The food & service were amazing. We started with some queso & their jalapeños covered in cheese. Both were AMAZING. The queso was absolutely delicious - we wanted to drink it from the bowl. They also don't skimp on their complimentary chips, beans, and salsa. That was a huge plus for us since so many restaurants don't give that for free anymore! I ordered the carne asada platter and it was absolutely massive. The meat was so juicy and tender and it came with rice, beans, guacamole, and pico. Delicious. My husband got a version of the california burrito. We aren't totally sure if that was on the menu but the waitress was so helpful and open to a lot of customizations to their listed burritos. The manager decided to argue with us over someone disliking their food and refused to take it off the bill after we told her regardless we're not going to pay for it. Again this is one of the better Mexican restaurants around. A little pricey but I guess that is inflation. We got the pollo tapatio and the chimichangas and they were all delicious. Service was good. Wow, very disappointed with the food here. When you go to a Mexican restaurant and order tacos it should be seasoned with at least salt. The rice looked like last nights leftovers. I should have turned around and walked out when I saw how dirty the place was. The service was great and very pleasant, very attentive. Whenever I get Manuel V for my server in the bar area I have the best customer service. I always have good service but he goes above and beyond. Today, they were offering $5.00 lunches for Veterans in honor of Veterans Day. The restaurant was so busy but Manuel was calm, polite and efficient. My food was amazing as always. I wish the Valdivia sisters would serve the kinds of Mexican foods they grew up on in Emmett, rather than the same-old, same-old American-style foods every other Mexican joint in the Treasure Valley serves. There's nothing wrong with the food they offer, but there are lots of us who clamor for real Mexican food, not the lost-in-translation stuff that makes people think Taco Bell is authentic. Heard lots of good things about this place and finally have tried it. Our new favorite Mexican restaurant. Delicious food! It's shocking how many Mexican places don't deliver on the refried beans and Spanish rice. Jalapeños are perfect. On our first visit they had huckleberry margaritas on special. So good and not too sweet. Even the hubby who is not a fan of margaritas loves it. On our next visit I stuck with the huckleberry (on the rocks) and hubby got the watermelon margarita, which was the days special. He loved it! But he loves the sweeter drinks. It smelled like a watermelon jolly rancher, which he said was pretty close to the flavor. Salas that is served with the chips is so good with just a bit of spice for all to enjoy. They have a huge menu and so far we've liked everything we've had. Carne asada, chili rellano, fajita taco salad, and burritos. Service is great and the restaurant is spacious and clean. They get busy at dinner time, but grab a drink and wait. Or go if there are bar tables available grab them. I've heard they have the best selection of tequila, but both times we've been we haven't been given a bar list with the options so I can't comment on that. We live in central California where there are lots of Mexican restaurants.. which I love.. so we know what good Mexican food tastes like !! But WOW !!! What a great flavor the chili verde and chili Colorado had I believe it was called the Luis special.. it was outstanding!!! Portions are huge as well !! What a great place to eat !!
