I had Albondigas soup over the weekend and now I'm obsessed to see who all makes it in the valley. Corona Village is on my way to work so I thought I'd stop in for a quick lunch. Walking in, I was instantly greeted by the hostess. She was very sweet. I got sat at a booth and my server came shortly after. He came with a basket of chips and salsa. I did try a chip and some salsa but my teeth were still hurting from my wisdom teeth removal. But from what I tried, the chips were crunchy and the salsa was fresh! I grabbed a small portion of the Albondigas soup and a cheese quesadilla for lunch. I didn't wait long. I was 1 of only 3 quests there. My soup came out beautifully plated and my quesadilla looked cheesy! My soup was rich in color and the meatballs looked good. I noticed carrots, potatoes and celery. The texture of the soup was more like a stew, it was thick. You can taste the tomatoe in the soup. The potatoes and carrots were cooked nicely and were easy to chew. I do wish there were more veggies to the soup. I got 2 pieces of carrot and a chunk and a half of a yellow potato. The soup was also heavy on the saltier side. I couldn't eat much of the soup as it got to be too much. My quesadilla was crunchy on the outside but unfortunately the cheese in the middle was still cold and not melted all the way. Which was a complete bummer since it looked so good! The venue is clean. The staff is super nice! My server did a great job taking care of me. He also had the prettiest eyes! But the food was just ok. I have heard great things about this joint so I do look forward to going back! Today just didn't hit for me but maybe next time it will. read more

I have loved going to the Coronavirus Village with the great food and friendly staff. Tonight I met a couple friends there for a birthday dinner and long overdue catch up. There was a table next to us of approximately 10 people who were being very loud making it difficult to visit. I know they were out just having a fun time. I asked the waitress if we could be moved to another quieter part of the restaurant and she said "no" as they were short staffed and had only one person working. I noticed there were three people working. I again politely asked if we could be moved to a table a little farther away yet in the servers' area. At that point she snapped at me saying "this is a restaurant not a library". We were never moved and there were no apologies made. I have driven by this place hundreds of times but have never stopped in. Tonight my wife and I were Christmas shopping and out later than we planned and we saw this place. It was given four stars and I couldn't agree more. The restaurant was small but the food was excellent. I had the special, which was chicken with mushrooms, cooked in garlic, with rice, beans, and corn tortillas. It was fresh and absolutely delicious. My wife had the carne asada and she loved it. The portions were large and you won't go home hungry. This place is definitely worth stopping. read more

Had a great experience at Corona Village on State Street today!! (4334 W State Street) I tried their "Healthy Chicken" and it was SO good!!! It was cooked in olive oil with traditional Mexican seasonings served with veggies and salad! We met the owner, Javier, who was super nice and he recommended the bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers (served with a bell pepper jelly) as an appetizer. We also had Javier's Platter which was two platters with bacon wrapped shrimp and carne asada served with tortillas and all the trimmings! It was FANTASTIC and the flan really put the finishing touches on lunch! Next time, I'm just going to order the Healthy Chicken but keep in mind, it's enough food for two people or take home for a yummy and healthy dinner read more

First time trying. In Boise on business. Salsa was fresh and slightly spicy. Chips were on point being slightly warm I ordered a plate with pollo and mushrooms with onions. I've been coming here for years and years and things have changed. Not in a good way. I really don't like to leave bad reviews but I also think they're very helpful to the community and maybe the owners / managers of the establishments so here goes it. I left 3 star because the staff is very nice as far as I've experienced. No complaints about the service. It's just the food - it's just no longer crave-able as it was in years past. Basically it's one note - salt. The green sauce is tasty but I used it to get down the bland chicken enchilada I had so I pretty much only was tasting the sauce. I'm not big on cheese so I usually push it aside but maybe it's better with the cheese, but again the cheese was just bland and salt. I was looking for some complexity somewhere, maybe some heat. Even the salsa was lacking. Chunks of fresh tomato helped a little bit overall it's so mild like everything else I ate. My enchilada was only lukewarm despite the plate being very hot. So if you like pedestrian and mild Mexican you might like this. My friend's chicken burrito seemed pretty good but when ordering this time, I noticed on the combo menu that one burrito was $5 more than one enchilada. That's quite a difference and since it was going to be $13 for that burrito I just went with an enchilada. Not sure how can they can justify that price difference. Also, I know food costs have gone up but I'm finding restaurants are increasing prices above and beyond their actual food cost increases. It's become a racket to eat out anymore. I think this may have been my last time here despite how convenient it is for me. I have to wonder if $5 worth of food down the street at Taco Bell would have been better. read more

I like the combo plates with the cheese and the grease and the little bits of lettuce as garnish...that's just the kind of mexican food I CRAVE. my parents had been here a couple weeks prior and said you have to go because you will love it! so we did! the chips and salsa were tasty and fresh and hot. the salsa was a little spicy and very flavorful. I ordered the 2 item combo plate with a cheese enchilada and a chile relleño. everything was so perfectly cooked and tasted authentic. I just was in heaven the entire time I was eating. I ate every single bite and then regretted it because I was so full LOL pregnancy makes you do crazy things! my hubby got almost the same thing as me but his was a 3 item combo and he got a chimichanga as his 3rd item. it was stuffed full of "picadillo" which is just shredded pork and beef in a yummy red sauce. he really enjoyed it. we left so full we were almost sick, but we couldn't help it...when you get good mexican food, you eat it! we will 100% be coming back often. My husband had been coming here for lunch for several years and he finally convinced me to try it out. I ordered 2 picadillo crunchy tacos a la carte. They were only $1.95 each! My husband got the 2 enchilada combo ( 1 cheese &1 picadillo). The combo included rice & beans. Our food came out promptly and the presentation was really nice. Even my a la crate plate looked great. The picadillo was absolutely delicious!! I was floored. All of the toppings (meat, cheese, lettuce, taco shell) were super fresh. I tasted my husbands enchiladas and they were equally delicious. The sauce was really good. The service was awesome! So many restaurants are short staffed right now and the service is lacking, but not here! The server was attentive and helpful without being intrusive. The have a great lunch special here that can't be beat! They also offer take out with a drive up window! It makes life so easy to be able to order authentic fresh Mexican food and have the ability to pick it up without ever getting out of the car. Can't recommend enough. Food is excellent, and the service is great. My fiancé had the camarones jaliscos from the dinner menu, which were amazing. I've tried a few things, but my personal favorite so far has probably been the enchilada lasagna. Traveling through Boise I needed some takeout food and was in the mood for Mexican. Ordering was easy and it was ready very quickly. However, it is the most bland Mexican food I have ever tasted. The fajita quesadilla meat had no taste and it looked boiled. The chicken carnitas was similar. A soupy mix of meat, onions, peppers and more. But very little flavor. My parents where here visiting from out of state and they like Mexican food. I have read the reviews on Corona Village but had not eaten there yet. My Dad can be difficult and sometimes come across as rude so I was praying for the best. My husband and myself and parents walked in yesterday in the evening and it was very busy. It took a while before we where helped. There where two female waitress and a male waiter. The two women did not acknowledge us but the young man did even though he was busy. He ended up being our waiter and his name was Francisco. This young man was polite, helpful and was very nice to my Dad. He gave us great service and the food was great. This young man gave excellent customer service and he did so with a smile. There needs to be more Francisco's in the world. read more

Since moving here from Dallas three years ago this is hands down the worst meal I've been served! We tried three different dishes and they all had a weird bad taste. THE.WORST.FOOD.EVER. Seriously though. My husband and I went with a group of people. We should've known that food was going to be awful based on the chips and salsa, but we decided to share a platter anyways. Big mistake. We chose the platter with the most asada listed and shown in the picture, VERY MISLEADING. The actual amount that came out was about half of what was pictured in the menu. Also the sopitos were just awful. There's usually never any Mexican food that I don't like, but I found it here. Also the inside of the restaurant feels very cheap and drab. We've ordered from and dined in from Corona Village for years. When we ordered this evening for pickup the food was very obviously old. I ordered enchiladas which were stiff and very dark colored. I still tried to eat it and it tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp all day. The corn tortillas were stiff and chewy and the insides tasted awful. They include chips with the order which were completely stale, rubbery and uneatable. We've had good food from Corona in the past. If they're just dumping old food off to pickup orders I think it's a mistake. read more

Horrible customer service. The food was great until I found an inch long bone shard in my pollo a la crema. I alerted the waitress and she said "well it is handmade, that happens sometimes." Not I am sorry... now I have a sore tooth and a stomach ache from frustration. Such a bummer!!! read more
