The interior reminded me slightly of an 80's Pizza Hut and the serving trolleys are from another era. The dining room is a mix of booths and table so could support a big party. I could see the place getting loud if full. The service and food were both lovely for a family vibe. The prices are fair market, but it's not a deal. Looking at $15-$20 entrees. The serving size is massive. Could probably split a burrito. I also enjoyed the Chile Colorado came in a hot stone bowl, nice touch! The flavor profile is typical mountain west. Place was pack at 6:30 pm. My server was very helpful and nice. Service was great. Bathroom is somewhat clean. Restaurant has a nice ambiance, clean and bright. My pollo mole was a bit dry when I got it, asked my server for an extra sauce and she was happy to get it for me. The avocado seafood salad was meh, my husband and I was not a fan. This is a great place to take a group for lunch. Made reservations a couple weeks ago, arrived early yesterday before they opened. A server saw us with our classic cars standing outside and invited us in. Tables already set up, waters poured, drinks ordered and delivered. Newish menu easy to read the categories, lunch specials on the back. One server for thirteen of us, efficient, got special requests on food correct, and used a rolling cart to bring most of the orders out. Hot food, free tortilla chips and dips and replacements. The creamy chicken dish, burritos and tamale were excellent. Nothing fancy on taco salad, sauces for the combinations, but still basic and pretty good. Love the fun decor. read more

Are there better options for Mexican food in the Treasure Valley? Yes. Is it the tastiest Mexican food I've ever had? No. Would I still come back though? Yeah! I've been to this location a couple times and in my experience, it's good.. maybe not great but still good. I appreciate that they have actual Mexicans working here both at the front of the house and in the kitchen ... that might not be a big deal to some but not every Mexican restaurant around here does and those ones have menus that tend to really lack in the authenticity and flavor department more often than not lol the staff that I've met here are very kind as well. I also really appreciate the healthier menu options and not just taco salad or some fajitas. Not that there's anything wrong with taco salad or fajitas.. taco salads and fajitas are delicious but that can get old pretty fast when that's all you order from similar establishments ! I got the Skinny enchiladas this time which have shredded chicken in corn tortillas topped with a light sour cream sauce, cilantro and BIG avocado slices. It's $15 and on the small side so not the best bang for your buck but I'm on a weight loss journey and doing Semiglutide injections.. and I'm not being lazy expecting the weight to just fall off me without changes to diet or exercise routine.. I'm trying to help the shots work for me by making healthier choices even when I'm on the go and eating out and this meal happened to fit into my day and my lifestyle. The dish normally comes with chips and salsa but I asked them not give me any as that just adds carbs and calories, ect and on these shots I tend to get full alot faster so I really wouldn't need them to get full anyways. Wow, I really don't understand the good reviews. Ordered the carnitas through Uber Eats. Carnitas are normally roasted and/or fried pork chunks nicely seasoned with spices. What I got looked, smelled, and tasted like canned tuna. I'm not exaggerating at all, if I was to blind-taste this I would 100% bet money that it was canned tuna packed in water. I like tuna, when I'm in the mood for it and don't have to pay 20 bucks a plate for it. The refried beans were decent, and the guacamole was not very fresh. The rice tasted like they just dumped an entire container of cumin in it and called it a day. Flour tortillas were chewy. I'm really having trouble understanding all the good reviews. Maybe they were having a bad night? Either way I'm not doing this again. Ordered thru DoorDash. Stuck in styrofoam, which besides being unhealthy for humans & the enviro- u can't reheat in it. Salsa did not have much flavor but nice texture. It was a nice touch that they gave a small bag of tortilla chips on the to go order, as was the fresh lettuce. The shredded chicken was generously proportioned, but unfortunately basically flavorless too. So I wouldn't recommend their nachos, but I would try them again for another type of dish. read more

Went in for tacos and margaritas with the wife. Ordered birria tacos and barbacoa. Each plate had 2 small tacos and some beans & rice at $15 per plate. Ordered 2 margaritas with patron and it was the most watered down drink ever so we ordered 2 more and asked for a double which were still pretty watered down. At the end, we were charged about $85 for 4 unsatisfactory margaritas and $30 for 4 dinky tacos. Plus tax and tip we spent about $140. This is insanely overpriced. My parents and I stopped in after visiting the western Idaho fairgrounds. We each got two fish tacos, my parents got a beer each, and they give you chips/salsa/beans for the table. The fish tacos were a bit hard to eat at first, but they were both delicious and surprisingly filling. You do have to pay for the chips and such if your bill isn't enough, but it's only a buck, well worth it. The atmosphere was comfortable, very beautifully decorated for day of the dead and even had signs explaining everything. Parking is easy but traffic can be a beast on the main road if something is going on at the fair grounds, but when you're waiting to get out you're full of good food so it's fine. Service was not AMAZING but they were busy, we just didn't know we should take our check up instead of pay at the table. We saw others pay at the table though so I'm unsure how to roll there. I was last there with a group of people from work. There were six of us, and we ordered varying numbers of tacos per person, from 2 to 5 each. All of us ordered different meat combinations as well. Two stars because we are full and the salsas and guac were decent! We just moved to Boise from San Diego where we get amazing Mexican food weekly. This meal was a disappointment overall, which we expected based on what we've heard about Idaho Mexican food. We were recommended this by a family member in the area. I'm really shocked at the good reviews... either the 5 stars hit this place on an amazing day or people just don't know what good tacos taste like. Overall I would just say things were bland. And the nachos were mush by the time they got to us, and we've never had that issue with other places before. My husband and I will reserve this place for happy hour chips and salsa and guac, and maybe a marg, but we won't get the food here again. They just moved up the street to 5285 Glenwood St. where there used to be a Pizza Hut. Decided to check them out finally after wondering if they were for real back in that little space in the strip mall. The family has been in business for decades and have crafted their own unique specialties. I need to go back and check those out. We were only in the mood for standards. Ceviche was ok. Nothing spesh. The torta was nicely toasted and the carnitas pork was great. The Olivia salad has an unusual grilled chicken. And the mini-chimis were a little too salty and the chicken tasted funny. I've previously been to El Gallo Giro on a couple of occasions as it's less than a mile from my home. Each visit has brought great food & memorable service. One visit led the manager to offer me 1 million tacos if I signed with his city league basketball team. Tonight's visit was no exception. It was my first trip here for their famed Taco Tuesday(that I've been hearing about for the last 18 months. 5 different meats, multiple shells & all the fixings in a self serve format let me do some serious work on my waistline. After tonight, they may just have to change the reader board to say "Rob Loves Tacos" Our waiter knocked it out of the park, with his humor, magic tricks and attention to our needs. I'm probably going to take off work next Tuesday so I can spend more time eating their tacos. UPDATE 5/15/18 I keep going back for Taco Tuesday, and bringing friends with me. Javier has been our server every single time, and he continues to be incredible. I only understand half of his jokes, but he is always entertaining. A friend suggested going here after being at the quilt show at the Expo Center all day. I asked if it was Americanized or the real thing since I'd lived in AZ for 30 years and love real Mexican food. Believe me, it's real. Salsa, fried beans and chips served while you're figuring out what to eat. I asked for a spicier salsa and they had it. I had pollo en mole- oh my, so. Dry good. I'd never had it where they sliced the meat in pieces instead of chicken pieces, but it was still really good. Then, we had churros afterwards that are served with whipped cream and chocolate. Food is decent. Customer service is good. My coworkers and I usually dine here in Tuesday's for their Taco Tuesday buffet. It's All-You-Can-Eat tacos for $9.49 with tax. The buffet consists of corn tortillas or hard shells, beans, rice, al pastor, carne asada, carnitas, and chicken. At the end of the buffet are the addings: cilantro, onion, cheese, salsa, and chips I have yet to try anything on the actual menu. read more

Met some friends here for Taco Tuesday !! They have a taco bar set up, and it's $8.95 for all you can eat. The bar consists of hard corn tortilla shells, and steams soft (small) tortillas. There is carne asada, pork, I think chicken (didn't try), and Al Pastor. All the condiments (mild to hot sauces), rice, beans, etc. The bar food was good, not great, but for the $, I'm not complaining.
