El Compa Seafood Restaurant price increase faded sign on one entry door. Failed to mark their menus with the correct pricing!

"Mariscos El Compa" is an old Mexican Seafood Restaurant in an industrial neighborhood in Caldwell, ID. We were given menus showing different prices than those we were actually charged! The server never advised us of the increase in food pricing! When we complained they showed us a faded sign, on one of their entrance doors, stating there had been an increase in prices. The food is definitely overpriced, for this establishment category. Grilled thin beef pieces, "carne asada " is a whooping $22. Their fried shrimp were overcooked and expensive, and ice tea was $5...all of this in a mediocre restaurant with the men's bathroom in disrepair. I am sure this price hike is unjustified and done in a sneaky manner, DO NOT patronized them!

OMG! Soooooooo delicious! We grew up in AZ and have been searching for Mexican food that meets the standards we grew up with and this place is that place for us! I got the fried shrimp with rice and beans and my husband got the smothered burrito and customer service was amazing the server was so nice to me the corona I had while waiting for food was coooolllldddd and everything was on point!

First time in. I say it was okay. I was meeting w a friend, I had my 4 year nephew with me and they only had two tables with customers.. I waited to be seated like the signed said but after while my nephew grew inpatient so we sat at a booth. The server came after a minute or two got our drink order. I took my nephew to the bathroom they are pretty clean, not much of light in there it was a bit dark but it was ok.. My friend arrived, she got her drink we visited for a bit... We order our food the dish I order was I honestly I don't remember but it was so delicious I love the tasted of my food it was so good. My friend order tacos she loved them. The server got confused that she brought me some Tacos of shrimp and than fixed my order. She did say it was her first time. She was good. My nephew was killing flies was his hands he was Entertaining himself lol.. Over all the food was good the place was calm and the flies well its summer it's hard to keep them away. Our server did ok too.

It's Thursday night so I know Gueros had live mariachi and the service is always amazing. I will never come back here. We left a good tip, we were kind despite the remarks urging us to leave but the service is just going downhill.

I had a rude waitress. She is a bully and made it the worst experience. I love this place and the food is amazing, however I dread walking in and seeing this woman. I'm not sure how to add photos if I did I'd add a picture to show her. beware of this lady

0Stars if I could the food isn't even good, the server appeared to be drunk or on something to be yelling at a paying customer? So unprofessional, it's sad that the owners don't know how to deal with their employees, they take advantage of their customers by charging extra money thinking we wouldn't notice. The servers are trained to scam. Never visiting this trashy place with trashy people again! read more

Growing up in Central Valley of Californication, I was exposed to some excellent MX food. I tried many MX places in Treasure Valley but was typically very disappointed (I don't like MX food dressed up to appeal to Idaho people), then I found El Compa, damn was I impressed. If you really like true MX grub, to to El Compa, beware they are closed on Tuesdays. read more

I had the aguachiles and they were okay. Quality of food was not the problem. They have old menus with outdated prices, and don't let you know that there's been a dramatic price increase. Kind service, but would have loved to have had a verbal notification. (There's a small sign on the outside of their entrance stating the pricing problem.) read more

had never been here, was so surprised at the Excellent multi layers of flavors the plates had plenty of food. Rice and beans cooked right. its mostly a seafood done Mexican style place. we will go back! service was good. weird old building on the outside but colorful and fun inside! husband had a stuffed fish fillet. Me & my husband ate here a few weeks ago. I have to say it was delicious. I ordered a burrito and ceviche for the appetizer that we shared together. And my husband ordered the quesadilla. We both had to go boxes. I ate on my burrito for 4 more days. Big servings and prices are good. Definitely going back. read more

Who screws up a taco salad? These people. Brought me a plate of lettuce, couple tomato slices & couple cucumber slices & chicken on top. I ordered beef, she said she put order in wrong. Brought 1000 island dressing? She never asked what dressing i wanted which was fine b/c I usually put salsa on top my taco salad. Oh, & no taco shell bowl. Only 3 occupied tables & had to go get her to get more drinks 4 our table. Menu prices are not adhered to. They charge extra $2 for rice & $2 for beans on a combo plate. Disappointing. read more

I don't eat seafood. I'm new to the area. I love Mexican food tho. A friend took me here. I loved it. The green sauce is my favorite. I know this is basic but I get beans, rice, flour tortillas and poured green sauce all over and went to town Basically I made my own burrito without meat. Torts to die for , huge flavor from everything even the jalapeños have a different additional flavor not hot that's what there awesomeness sauce comes in I can drink both , NO LIE! Honestly, if I could rate this place a zero I would. I went to have a dinner with my pregnant wife. The prices on the menu were misleading and incorrect. Some of the prices had white-outs. The waitress showed her inability to do simple math because our total bill was added up incorrectly. When confronted about it the waitress also showed her lack of professionalism. She started to argue and mistreat us. The owner eventually got involved and we payed the correct amount. I met dogs smarter than his staff. read more

This place is honestly the best Mariscos in town but I'm giving it a 3 star cuz unfortunately they have the worst customer service! Every time I got the workers are so rude! They never check on you again after giving you your food. And I say they because I've gotten different servers and they're all rude. read more

I think the ownership or operations has changed. The tortilla chips are not the same (as good) and the staff is different. My usual enchiladas didn't seem as fresh either. It's too bad. read more

Not particularly flavorful, though they had some nice sauces to add heat and flavor. While a bit underwhelmed for our first time, we would return, if we were in the area, and try one of their other offerings.

As a chef, and a connoisseur, of fine international foods, I found El Compa Tacos Y Mariscos 605 N. 5th st. in Caldwell ID. to be a superb restaurant! It would be fair to say that it is as good or better than most of the Mexican restaurants from San Diego south down to the tip of Baja. The variety of menu choices is astounding (unfortunately they don't have fresh lobster or swordfish) . Every selection my family and I have chosen has always been superb! We have eaten there several times and have never been disappointed! For lunch I recommend the Tacos. Be sure to get at least one of each type of meat, (tongue, brain, Carnitas, cheek, depends on availability; as in Mexico!) Service is great, but at times can be understaffed due to their out of the way location leading to fluctuations in customers.
