I'm on a taco hunt so I ordered the carnitas and carne asada. The dinner is 3 tacos with rice and beans. They allow you to get one taco a different meat (I wish they sold individual tacos so I could've tried the Al pastor). The meat was pretty seasoned but I felt the carnitas were a little dry but still good. Now they have had the best corn shell I've had in my search. The shell had a little charred and a slight crisp. The service was nice and the staff was friendly. Shoutout to Stephany for being very attentive. The restaurant is not a large restaurant but colorful with a minimal decor. The seasoning could be better, maybe missing sauce, definitely missing cilantro. I had to ask for extra cilantro since my taco don't have much of it. This is my second or third time visiting and they've made some improvements since I was here last, now they have nice booths. The food was good, they have a few vegetarian items on the menu. Worst Mexican food experience I've ever had and not authentic at all. Margaritas are neon green and taste like candy - clearly a cheap mixer and very little actual alcohol. I love guacamole and theirs is inedible, 1 bite in and it is the worst money I've ever spent. Their happy hour pricing is no different than normal pricing too, total scam. By Far one of the worst experiences at a Hispanic restaurant. I would say most of their popularity comes from the fact that it's on Cary Street and not its food quality. First the salsa is by far one of the worst salsas I've come across , tasting mostly like canned tomato paste than an actual blended salsa. The fact it looks like a soup is disappointing and makes me sad at the fact that the onions taste better than the salsa itself. Second the enchiladas man so disappointing at the fact that the side dishes taste better than enchiladas themselves make me angry. Salsa verde would honestly save this part of the menu rather than relying on their ranchero that once again might contain that tomato paste and taste horrible. Third of all the SPIKED JARRITO by FAR ONE OF THE WORST ALCOHOLIC DRINKS EVER I paid nearly 15 bucks for this drink that you should keep in mind is probably worth 2.50 at the local convenience. I bet i only got one shot for one of the worst drinks possibly created. I don't know how else to say how disappointing this experience was. The service was wonderful very kind lady and the ambiance seems really fun and amazing. I would give this place 1 star but I give it two stars due to the vibes and the kind service. One burrito with a little barely seasoned ground beef, between runny refried beans and some rice. The chips and salsa--well, I've had tomato juice thicker than the salsa. I placed a fairly large order around 11:15 a.m. for my team ahead of a meeting via ChopChopRVA. The food arrived on time, hot, and looked delicious off the bat. They also included two heaping bags of chips with sides of salsa. I ordered the Nachos Supremo without jalapenos for my lunch. It was large but not crazy big -- perfect size -- and was delicious. I hate when nachos arrive soggy, and fortunately these were not. I wouldn't save them for a second sitting, though. The restaurant is extremely small with a couple of tables and bar seating. We went on a Sunday and they had a lunch menu till 3. The lunch deal are a straight up steal and was enough food for two people. The meal was fresh even the corn tortilla was perfect and didn't break when eating it with our meal. I thought Jalapeños Mexican Grill was a great spot for no-fuss tex mex food. I loved how each table gets free chips and salsa. I got the vegetarian quesadilla and a frozen mango margarita. It's a super small restaurant with 5 tables and 6 bar chairs. So be prepared to wait. Chips and salsa are meh. Salsa was really runny making it hard to dip. The house margarita had a soapy taste to it. Just use a store brought mix. The younger waitress wasn't using a measuring device for the alcohol which caused her to severely under mix the drinks she barely put half a shot into someone's drink. So take proper measures to ensure your drinks are mixed properly. The real shine in this place is the food. Ordered the Arroz con Pollo which was seasoned really good. Their homemade hot sauce was another treat as well. My sister order chicken nachos and advised that the chicken was seasoned really well but the nachos came with too much lettuce piled on the top to truly enjoy the nachos themselves.
