Burritos are medium-sized, comparable to Chipotle, and while one is enough for me, the full combo would just satisfy a bigger appetite. The burritos were a bit soggy and could've been more generously filled. The tacos were the stars -- palm-sized but packed with flavor. The tripa taco was perfectly fatty and crispy, while the lengua was soft and flavorful. I'd come back for the tacos over the burritos. Drinks are self-serve from a cooler in front of the truck. There are two self-serve salsas -- a fresh green one and a spicier red; I preferred the red for its kick. Price-wise, it's on the higher end for a taco truck, which might be a drawback for some. I have been trying to get to Jalapeño Express as they're not always parked in their spot so I would call ahead but our food was good. My son and I had steak burritos served by two young men that were in the trailer very friendly. We sat outside on some picnic bunches, listening to the Spanish music. It is good not great as I come from Chicago where we have 1 million taco burrito joints also for two burritos $31 seemed a little expensive but again it was decent. read more

Biggie's pizza looked so packed that I immediately rubbernecked past it. Bumped into this and got myself a chorizo burrito and pastor taco. Fairly simple, but good meat and excellent umami. The cheese they used was adept at handling the flavor of the sausage. The pastor had some nice fatty bits on it. I actually wanted lengua, but unfortunately they were out. I've driven by this little food truck hundreds of times. My girlfriend has had people tell her how good it is, and I've heard from others, just never taken the time to try it, until last night. I pulled over to gas up and was kinda hungry and saw the food truck was still open (they are open till 12am and 2am on weekends!)...so I walked over. I asked for two Carnitas tacos but they were out of Carnitas. So I chose two chicken tacos, which comes with onions and cilantro. They had a cooler on the ground with some various sodas, so I bought a can of coke and waited about 5 min for my tacos to be ready. Added a little hot sauce then went to try em out. They have a small seating area but I chose to eat in my car so I can listen to music or watch a YouTube video. I assumed they would be better than Taco Bell, but I was quite amazed that they were better than ANY taco I've had, at ANY Mexican restaurant! The flavors were amazing and I was so impressed I plan to take my girlfriend there tonight when we are out. Two tacos and a can of coke for about $7 and ready in 5 min. Don't judge a book by its cover, because Jalapeño Express is a completely legit food truck. Plus, they're open late! I visited on a week night around 8pm and there was a line. According to the customers, this place usually has a line. I ordered three tacos - Pastor, Carnitas and Camarones. They were all delicious. What stood out the most were the double-wrapped corn tortillas. That's right, two tortillas for EACH taco. The consistency and texture of the tortillas elevated the overall taste to flavortown nirvana. Most tacos here, i.e. the Pastor and Carnitas, are served with onion and cilantro. Very traditional. Sorry guys, no ranch dressing on these tacos! A few tacos, like the Camarones, are served with creamy avocado. Not guacamole. Avocado. Add some of their spicy salsa (red and green) to the mix, maybe a squirt of lime, and you're all set. The simplicity really shines through with these savory handhelds. Was excited for this place but was sorely disappointed. The al pastor taco was bland and couldn't overpower the corn tortilla flavor. I couldn't tell the difference between the fish and al pastor taco other than onions on one. The esquites was too runny and not what it's supposed to be. The huarache was ok and the best thing we ordered but still meh. The horchatta had wayyyyy too much cinnamon. Also their tomatillo salsa is watered down. read more

I got the asada and the carnitas tacos. I feel without putting the salsa it might have been a little bland so definitely add the salsa that they handmade. Great family owned food truck. Friendly staff. A good variety of food to choose from. Tacos taste like memories from a cookout. The sauces are on hot, but on point. I've been twice now. The first time I had a burrito, and it might have been the best I've ever had. Fat, full, and rolled correctly so it didn't bust out the sides and make a mess. The second time I had 3 tacos: Asada, pollo, carnitas. I wasn't impressed with the tacos. If I get them again, I'll ask for cheese to be added. Also, the chicken smelled funny so I'll stick to pork. Jalapeno Express is my go-to taco truck. California burritos in Jax beach are a win. There's doesn't have fries like in San Diego, it's more like home fries but the flavor is still on point. I've had the tacos and burritos here and both are delicious. Haven't tried the quesadillas yet but it's on the to-do list. Best Mexican ever! This place makes the best tacos, burritos, and churros that I have ever had! The churros have a caramel sauce (cajeta) in them that is the perfect extra touch of sweetness! The burrito was off the chain and even had rice and potatoes in it! You have to try the huarache because it's not something you can get in most places! I will be going back here often!
