Stopped by here for lunch on Wednesday with some friends from work. This location has been so many restaurants through the years. It was nice to see a new local Mexican place. Overall it was a good experience. The staff were very friendly and they have a decent offering for lunch specials. I ordered the lunch Chimichanga and it was ok. My friends ordered the lunch fajitas and a bowl. Both of their orders looked very good. Pros: * Quick service * Friendly staff * Good Food * Good portion sizes I'll give this place another try and see if my opinion goes up. I think the enchiladas I got seemed very oily and I don't think I'd get them again. But I'm interested in trying more. Service was slow, but servers were nice. I came here with my husband after seeing reviews on HappyCow, and I'm so glad we did. It's great to have a Mexican restaurant in town with an entire section dedicated to vegan food! I ordered the Al Pastor burrito and added the vegan chorizo for $2.99, while my husband had the chicken fajitas. We both really enjoyed our meals. I had the Street burrito it was amazing. For a small spot the food is good and authentic. They have good drink specials and only 2 staff at a time. I only Had to wait fror a few min to be. greeted. I was really disappointed with the horchata here. It honestly put me in a bad mood it tasted nothing like real horchata. If you're going to sell something under that name, it should at least resemble the authentic flavor people expect. This missed the mark completely. Unfortunately this is not a favorite place of mine :( The location itself is great, it could be a great place but I feel it is in much need of improvement in both service and food. The service is questionable, both times I have come here, I had a weird experience. Server had no idea what a Modelo was (that's fine especially if they don't drink beer BUT to not even know if it's available was weird). We told her 3x what the beer was called and she truly had no idea if they had it or what it was so she said "no we don't have it". We asked another staff member and they said they did have it so we finally got the beer. Then, the waiter took my order down wrong, I ordered a taco salad and I got a burrito. I told her this was wrong and she said I definitely ordered a burrito. I never in my life ordered a burrito from anywhere, I don't like burritos to begin with. The experience and mix up was bizarre but we got past it just fine. Now, the food is very mediocre unfortunately. Both times I've visited, the food is lukewarm and really not memorable or tasty. I really hope they make improvements but with competition in the area I don't think I will plan to return anytime soon. read more

We decided eat at Solazo Taqueria on a date-night since it's in the neighborhood and we were in the mood to try something new, Mexican and close. Although it's walking distance, we decided to drive and parking on the street can be challenging. There is ample parking behind the building a few yards back where JW used to be located. For now, it looks like there's no issues parking in that back lot. There was plenty of seating when we arrived and several parties already dining inside. There was a high-top bar where you can eat solo, stand alone tables for four or more and bench seating for those who like to have window views. Perfect to accommodate those who would prefer one over the other. To start, we ordered a beer for the man and a horchata for me. They brought out complimentary chips and their homemade salsa to our table. The chips were nice and warm and the salsa definitely had a nice kick to it. Delish. The waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable. I asked her what her favorite tacos were and she told me the Surf & Turf (steak & shrimp) that she just tried and the Crispy Fish (fried cod) tacos--a favorite. Sounded delicious so that's what I ate. Both tacos were very flavorful with seasoning on the meat and different from what I'm used to--but in a good way (a very, very good way). Both sauces on the tacos paired perfectly with the other ingredients. The tacos were delicious just as they were served. Perfect. I tasted the Gringo tacos from my BF's plate and they were also delicious and juicy. It's crazy, but their tacos weren't greasy at all (even though I don't mind it in some cases), but juicy and flavorful nonetheless. The prices are great. The service is fast and friendly. We stopped in for a quick lunch. There were only a few people in the restaurant, which was probably good since it didn't look like they had too many staff available. The fish was perfectly flaky with an excellent flavor. The steak was good but the star of the taco was the shrimp. During our meal one of the staff members brought over some freshly made salsa that was delicious! It was different than what they served with the chips when we sat down. The chips and salsa were good. The chips were warm but the salsa was cold. I'd prefer the salsa to also be warm, at least room temperature. read more

Average food at best. Very comparable to La Nop. Salsa was top notch, however we were not offered refills on chips. We had to ask for a re-fill for waters. Even thought both waters were empty, she only took the cup of the person who asked. Service was horrible- girl seemed bothered that we would order a drink, order food, exist. If service were even decent, probably would of given them 3 stars. Next time we will skip this place and go across the street. the service and the food were so forget able. The wait staff was obviously overwhelmed and many patrons actually got up and left. They apparently were having issues with the cook that night also. They had no chips and it took about an hour to even get some eventually. When the chips and salsa were finally delivered they were fresh and very good. The salsa was plentiful and quite tasty. Once we finally ordered and got some food it was several notches below Taco Bell. Yes , that bad. One of us had a Baja salad that was not a very good presentation and very ho hum. I had the enchiladas and they were also very poorly executed. I would hope this night was not indicative of this restaurant. I did not see any happy people there this night for sure. The waitress was comical and probably so frustrated herself that she tried to over compensate. Maybe that is just her personality. I would probably not even go back when in the area. This place can not be described in words it's so good. This isn't our first time eating here and every time we have it's always been amazing service. Absolute worst Mexican food in this area. Can't even tell you how bad it was. Local to the area, so we thought we'd try it and boyyy were we wrong. Place smelled like a mop when we walked in, never got silverware the entire time until we asked, and the tables were filthy. Server never wiped them down after the last people and the menus all stuck together. The tacos were absolutely disgusting. I honestly dont know how this place stays in business. Oh solazo... I wanted this to be great but it just wasn't. PROs: super friendly bartender, plenty of seating, and open later than jefe across the street. The downside was I ordered a rosemary margarita from the standard menu - they were out. Then I asked for a glass of pinot noir from the standard menu - they were out. Ok, beer it is. Haha. No worries, things happen. But I was let down when I ordered carnitas and it basically tastes like a pot roast from home. This did not have the typical carnita taste and it was just ok. Not bad - but definitely just ok. Would I go back? I guess if I needed late eats and was in the area and nothing else was open, but probably not. read more

Met up with some friends for dinner and margaritas here at Solazo tonight and it was OK, definitely missed the mark on a couple of things but in general it was pretty good. Service was also not very great. I'll just leave it at that. The chips and salsa were decent. My friend ordered the queso dip and it was very runny, also the portion was very small. I was most saddened by my strawberry margarita. I got the frozen one and maybe that's where I went wrong. It was awful... I couldn't even drink it. It tasted like grain alcohol and strawberry daiquiri mix. I noticed it came from a machine and was pre-mixed but I didn't expect it to be that bad. My friends got a few different types of tacos all of which looked delicious! They had no complaints about their meal whatsoever. I got the enchiladas suiza and it was also pretty tasty. Portion size was big I didn't expect to get 4 enchiladas so I ended up taking half of my entree home to eat later. I am hoping it was just an off night... I realize they haven't been open for very long and maybe they're still getting into the swing of things! I will have to come back and give Solazo another try in the near future. read more

I had the street tacos and they were great. They had 2 corn tortillas to prevent falling apart just like I like them. The Al Pastor was very good and was cooked on a spit like a gyro. We did speak to the owner and he said beer and margaritas are coming in a couple of weeks. My wife had the surf and turf tacos and she said they awesome. Ask for the fresh made hot salsa.
