The service was fantastic - Carson was amazing! Food was great - the chips were hot light and crisp, there were two sauces delivered a creamy green sauce and a red salsa which was mild, slightly sweet taste but no complaints - the food is Tex mex but tasted good with huge portions. We ordered the combination with tamale, enchilada's, chalupa, rice and beans.. anyway the only reason I am not leaving 5 stars is environment .. when I go to a Mexican restaurant I want to hear Mexican Music!!! It really sets the tone .. encourages me to order some margaritas and stay a while! This a full on tex-mex restaurant. We were in town to see friends. The green salsa is the best thing they have. The atmosphere is great and descent service. For us the food wasn't that good. It lacked a lot of flavor. I know some like tex-mex but not. We prefer authentic mexican food, this is far from that. read more

The restaurant was bright and busy, but we barely had to wait for a table. Our server was friendly and attentive. I like that each person gets their own bowls of salsa. I ordered the shrimp bowl off their new menu. It was delicious and spicy. The shrimp were cooked perfectly, and I enjoyed the mix of veggies with the melty cheese and rice base. Kinda unremarkable to be honest. Curb appeal was standard JTree with the exception of the cool bird. Ambiance inside was fun- Great Wall deco. We ordered at 12:33 and received our appetizer at 12:52- white queso bowl $9 all the thumbs up meal at 1:03. Combo fajita- we shared. Ultimate fajita (with beef) for one $$19 Cashed out at 1:24 lunch for 2- $38 Wasn't like we were in a hurry and we relaxed and enjoyed our meal. We did drive 1.5 hours to do it. The sign says Crazy Good Mexican Food - maybe for East Texas. But it's hard to fault a place that has been around as long as they have. I'm used to lots of spice and heat in my TexMex. Lots of space and lots of attentive staff in the restaurant. The green and red table salsas that came with the tortilla chips were yummy. They were even better when mixed together. The Elvis Presley Dinner is a monstrous plate of food. I probably left half of it on the plate because we were making a quick stop for lunch on the way home. Stopped here on our way from Houston through Henderson. Actually was a light snow as we came into town this evening. Older than the new one they opened up in Mount Pleasant. I ordered the grilled shrimp and steak. It was flavorful and filling. The shrimp were smaller than the ones in our hometown Jalapeño Tree. Service was good, not tons of people so easy to get our food quickly. Not a lot of choices in the area but fast food and a couple family owned restaurants. Overall not bad. read more

This use to be a great restaurant! This place is a joke now! I came inside and ordered and they gave me someone else's order. When I called they asked what order I had and informed me they didn't have my number! I actually use to work for The Jalapeño Tree in 98 and 99. I got news for you people, you can get every order right. This is doing the job you are paid for, you don't need phone numbers if you aren't a screw up! Stopped in while traveling through Henderson. The restaurant was clean as were the bathrooms but the food was mediocre. I ordered the beef fajitas, they were so tough I could barely eat them. It really was pretty decent Mexican food for East Texas and I have consistently enjoyed eating here. They were sweeping up and cleaning the place while customers were eating their food which is a big NO NO in my books. It seems that the staff could have a little more class in dealing with customers and making sure their dining experience was optimal. That said, the portions were huge, and it was quite good. Disappointing. First sign should have been the fact that jalapeños don't grow on trees. Table for one took over an hour to get fajitas. Once they came out sizzling, I was excited to finally have dinner. But they forgot the setup. I asked and they seemed put out out that I wanted a setup. As I waited for the setup I sat listening to sizzle subside from my fajitas. Once the setup arrived I was lucky that dinner was at least warm. I was still missing a plate. The Jalapeno Tree chain is OK, albit a bit over priced. As far as Tex-Mex food goes, its OK, although portion size is small. My fajitas were tender and tasty and the salsa is good. Margaritas are very sweet, as if made with white wine. We've eaten here a few times and the food is okay. We came in most recently for a late lunch and our server Markeques was unbelievable. Someone should tell him that he is in the customer service business. He did not smile once and he cracked his knuckles while taking our order. It wasn't just us, I watched and he acted the same way to the other tables nearby. We'll be back but only because we haven't found something better in Henderson. Ordered a To-go order of just chips and Salsa, I just feel like it is ridiculous to charge customers for a bag of chips, when their prices for salsa are all different (red is a bit cheaper then Green salsa). I understand green salsa is what a lot of people like from this place but In my opinion I think chips should go with it, just how they serve Chips AND salsa when dining in. Very nice looking establishment in Henderson, TX. I wont even lie, I stopped by just because of the nice looking exterior, knowing full well that a lot of times that just means they have something to hide. Upon entering I stood around for a while feeling like somewhat of an idiot not sure if I was supposed to be waiting to be seated or not (even though a sign painted on the wall clearly states I was in the right). A few minutes go by and I decided to poke my head around and finally caught someones attention and was seated. Aside from that initial hiccup, the service was acceptable. It was huge on the inside, and fairly dead when I went, however it usually has a full parking lot from what ive seen. I had no other issues, the food was standard tex-mex. We stopped here on our commute back to Shreveport for Austin. We had seen a few different Jalapeno tree resteraunts on our commute, so we decided to stop in and give it a try. We got seated instantly. Our waitress was not very friendly, and seemed to being doing her job at the bare minimum. She got us our drinks and we ordered queso (of course) and tacos and soup. It took a while for the queso to make it to our table, it probably arrived less then 5 minutes before our food did. However, the salsa was pretty good and we munched on that while waiting. When we received the queso it was disappointing. It is rare that I find I queso that I don't like, but we didnt even finish a small queso. It was not very good. I got the soup and that was good, just not anything spectacular to remember. After we finished our meals it took a while for us to get our check. We had to look for the lady and request it. Overall our experience was a little below average. The food nor the service was spectacular, and i most likely will not be visiting a jalapeno tree again. read more

I've lived here for eight years. Every year or so on a holiday I give this place a chance - because it's one of the only places open on holidays. And each and every time I'm disappointed. It's WAY over priced and I wouldn't feed the beef fajita meat to my dogs. And forget about getting the order correct or timely with a take out order. I don't appreciate being harassed and embarrassed by Tracy, your restaurant manager in Jacksonville, nor talking down at me. We received a lot of stares from the employees when entering the restaurant and during our meal. The food was nothing to brag about. The chips for the nachos were soggy. The wife and I coincidently wanted the vegetarian quesadillas appetizers for our meal. We both thought they were excellent. I also had a small bowl of charro beans which were excellent as well.
