The food is very good. A little greasy, and is likely to go right through you the first couple times you eat here, but still very tasty.

I used to eat there, but not anymore. The place is nasty, and I've found better. Acapulco in Anymore.

The food here at El Ray turned out to be better than the hunting this weekend. It's called "hunting for a reason" as the old worn out saying goes... We joined H.S.'s brother's family who were already seated and eating their chips, salsa and queso. We got another order of queso and dove in. The service was great, even on this Friday night, but it also wasn't too busy. It was storming and that may have kept the crowd down a bit. The salsa, chips and queso were delicious. The queso being the classic queso blanco and the salsa also was the classic red salsa. Both are very typical for us here in the deep South. I ordered the Burrito Supreme with beef and H.S. ordered the California Burrito with shrimp. She routinely out orders me and she did so again. Mine was really good. Hers was great! I wasn't thinking when I ordered the beef. I was thinking it would be steak (I know better) and it was ground taco meat. I was just trying to hurry. Hers with the shrimp and all the light fillings was more what I was looking for. It is probably hard to imagine for a lot of you that a burrito can be light but it can be done. Tacos El Fluffy in Pensacola sure does! Down the table from me my brother and sister in-law shared the Molcajete which looks like a hot mess but they love it. It is basically a giant bowl full of steak and chicken strips, shrimp, chorizo, frijoles charros, onions, cactus, and Mexican cheese. It is then served with tortillas. Think fajitas on steroids. El Ray is a good option in Brewton for a good meal. It is a bit of a surprise that such a good mexican restaurant exists here but there it sits. There have been some significant changes to the menu as they learned the tastes of small town America. Not surprising is the absence of menudo soup (tastes and smells like a barnyard that needs to be shoveled) and ceviche from the menu now. I am not saddened by the loss of the menudo. -B-

Then my nephew (4 years old might I add) got his cheese quesadilla and it had "spicy" queso on it (spicy as in for a four year old), so we asked if they could remake it with just shredded cheese, they agreed, no issue there. So they remade it but with shredded chicken (kitchen mistake) , went back and had to remake it again and still put "queso" on it after we said we just wanted shredded cheese (you know American cheese &' Colby Jack , NON SPICY CHEESES). Anyway, so we tried to make do with it but my nephew said it was still too spicy. So we asked them if they could just take it off the bill, they agreed but once paid the bill they still left the quesadilla on there. We informed them &' she said yeah we took the one off that was a mistake (honey they were all a mistake). She got the manager for us (looked like she had one too many drinks before she came out (drinks or drugs but, that's besides the point) so she comes to the table and we explain everything to her exactly how it happened and she says well you did get a quesadilla , (we did , wrong every time) she proceeds to act like we are lying and grabs a fork &' peels back the quesadilla and says, "there is no queso on this" &' we said yes there is and it was still the same plate used from prior and the queso was still all over that. She acted very immature for a manager &' didn't want to fix the issue. She kept making excuses as well as the servers seemed brain washed by the nonsense and wanted to side with them like we should want queso on our KIDS quesadilla and acted like we were crazy! Also, the server acted like it was okay that she had to pay out of her own pocket for a mistake made by the kitchen. I guess it's normal for them to have to pay out of pocket ... COULDN'T BE ME ! WE even offered to pay the server after finding out she was going to have to pay for the extra quesadilla mistakes but she refused saying this is normal protocol. &' none of this is about money to us , it's the principle of the situation. Will never be back and we have reported to the BBB. Management needs proper training. Get better! Only reason this place gets business is because it's in the middle of nowhere... only smart things they did.

We were getting gas at the Shell station and noticed the food truck was extremely busy. I looked them up on Instagram, saw all the great reviews, and got really excited to try the tacos. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. I ordered five tacos with flour tortillas and paid the extra charge, but only two of them were actually made with flour tortillas. I also requested no cheese on two tacos, yet they still came with cheese. I also ordered a chicken tastodo. The biggest disappointment was the chicken. It was extremely dry and had almost no flavor. I honestly couldn't finish it. I'm still hungry because it just wasn't enjoyable. If I had eaten there instead of taking the food to go, I would have taken it back. To be fair, my husband ordered the beef tacos on flour tortillas and really enjoyed them. My daughter also liked her beef burrito, so it wasn't a complete miss for everyone. Based on my experience, I would not recommend the chicken. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but ours was dry, bland, and not worth the money. I was also disappointed that we paid extra for flour tortillas and didn't receive what we ordered. The atmosphere is outdoors with music... nice casual seating. I had such high expectations after seeing all the hype, but unfortunately, this visit did not live up to it.
