I have been going back and forth to IAB for critical medical care and no matter the trip we now make Monterrey's a destination either on the way there or back (or both )! I have to say we now feel like family and walk in so happy to be there and awaiting excellent food!! The servers are always attentive and the food is without fail! I find myself joyful about going to the doctor just for the reward of their amazing food!! Thank you thank you for being on my path!! This year has been full of life saving procedures and even in my weakest stars I enjoy the atmosphere.. even if I can't always enjoy the meal (but my family supporting me needs nourishment!) read more

Clearly understaffed, but even so, a 40+ minute wait for tacos, with many others being served before us who arrived after us! The perplexing thing is that the restaurant was not at all busy when we were there. Poor customer service. Food, when it eventually arrived, was good. read more

The bartender was rude and gave me really bad service. However, the waitress Joan made up for his rudeness.

I am not sure what happened to Monterrey's but as a Disabled Veteran the service was worse that when I was in Vietnam, the food has lost its goodness, the people there were rude and as a disabled Veteran I have a Trama Dog and the papers from the VA that certified the dog as needed for my medical condition. We were told we could not sit inside the restaurant, we were put outside in 85-degree heat and no shade, the flies were horrible spent more time swatting flies off our food than actually eating, the manager was rude, and the people, for the most part, died not even understand what we were saying. I would NEVER go back to this restaurant. read more

Our little local place that's been open around 3 years.. We love it. Very close to home, and much better than the other local competition in Defuniak. I personally don't appreciate the margaritas because I got sick on one that came out of a machine. I stick with beer. Always great for nachos, chimichangas, or fajitas. read more

I actually am headed to my hunting camp in Brantley and came up from Destin and took 285 to CR-1087 and then hit CR-2A to 331N and I stumbled upon this place. Really great food that literally was cooked and out at my table within 10 minutes. I was outside and came back to work on my margarita and took my time and my food is still too hot to eat. Very fresh. Very friendly staff and good food that's inexpensive but fresh as you can get. Glad my truck broke a ball joint or I'd have never discovered this gem. read more

Nice little mom and pop place on the border of florida and alabama. Got a shredded chicken taco with good seasoning in the chicken, served with lettuce, tomato and cotika cheese on a fresh made corn tortilla. Great stop for us on our taco tour. We love this place. It's better than any Mexican restaurant from Northwest Florida to Montgomery. Every time we pass through the town we make it a point to stop for dinner. We avoid Sundays because of the archaic laws of Covington County prevent alcohol sales. Can't say enough to support this business. read more

I would say their food is about twice as good as Peppers, based on recent experience. The salsa is much better, tacos, burritos, etc., are better. Only detraction is the temperature of the food when served can be a bit inconsistent. They are a family sit down restaurant. They serve Margaritas, beer and non alcoholic beverages. read more
