    Mexican Benedict

Jam 'n Honey is a cute little brunch spot right by DePaul. It is cash only, but they have an ATM. I ordered the Mexican Benedict and absolutely loved it. It was full of flavor and the potatoes in the side were tasty too. The food came out extremely quickly. Overall, it's a solid value in a good location and I will be back again sometime.

    Veggie Burrito

*cash only establishment* Came for a late brunch on a Sunday afternoon. We got a table outside right away. The service was slow, but the food was good. We had the veggie burrito, which was fantastic! Only complaint was that the cheese was only in one corner of the burrito so having it spread out more evenly would've really elevated the taste. We also had the 2x2x2 with eggs over easy and bacon. Overall a very good meal, but one of the eggs was overhard...No run at all. The other was perfect. Bacon was nice and crispy. Overall a pretty good experience. I'd go back for sure!

CASH ONLY !!!! ****** besides that, 5/5 stars. We went on a Friday morning around 11am and didn't have any issues with getting seated. Coffee is grounded here at Jam n Honey and boy oh boy is it good! Bottomless coffee and a staff who will keep the cups coming! Couldn't decide if I wanted savory or sweet; so I opted for the Nutella and banana pancakes and I WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND. Couldn't even finish the plate it was so big. Other gal in my party ordered the French toast and it was amazing. Will definitely be coming back

CASH ONLY It just wasn't great. We got there and the wait was relatively short but service could be better. We waited like half an hour before our server got there despite it not being crazy busy. The eggs were good but I got the butt piece of toast so that wasn't great. Very meh experience

We stopped her today because I love the area ! Also had to pick up my cats meds at a specialty pharmacy in the area! We sat inside outside as the window was open! Very clean ! Safe seating! Staff were awesome and friendly! The man in the white apron was very nice! The French toast was delicious with honey butter! The menu was two sided with a lot of good yummy sounding choices! The wait staff were helpful as I was between two choices ! My daughter and I will definitely go her again! Love the DePaul area neighborhood ! Yummy yum!

Scramble Eggs with Cheddar, Chicken and Waffle
    Gino W.

Dropped in while in the Lincoln Park area one weekday afternoon. Had the place to myself and was quite glad if it. Ordered the chicken and waffle. The chicken was chicken breast without the bone in. It wasn't juicy, which was perhaps to avoid the waffle getting soaked, but it wasn't dry either. It was just right. Ordered a side of eggs scrambled with cheddar. The whole meal was satisfying. I don't know about any cash only policy. That may have been from when they first opened. They accepted my credit card without complaint and without snarl. Service was great. Then again, it wasn't crowded so there was no scrambling. Like most breakfast spots in Chicago, I'm sure weekends see a full house. I'll take my chances during the middle of the week. The food was good enough for an encore.

Bacon Waffle Benedict, Pork Belly Hash

I think this place gets a bad rap because it's cash only but I knew this going in so it was fine by me. They definitely do have a POS though as two girls next to us paid with a credit card. This food was incredible and they have some really unique combinations. I got the bacon waffle and omg was it scrumptious. Husband got the pork belly scramble and could not stop talking about how good it was for days. Service definitely could have been faster and more attentive but wasn't awful by any means. Reasonably priced and good size portions. They don't take reservations and the inside can get pretty packed so would recommend coming on a sunny day when they have more outdoor seating.

    Italian Omelette

This is place is located near DePual University, and is so cute on the outside! Minus one star because they were cash only. The food was very good! I loved my omelette and my family loved their sandwiches. I would recommend the local chicken sandwich particularly! Our service was pretty fast as well!

    BLT Sandwich

This is a nice local mom and pop shop for brunch. Seems decently popular but not too busy where you can't find a spot. Prices are pretty fair. Around the 10-14 dollar range I would say. They have nice outdoor sidewalk seating as well. I got the BLT, which is a very fair price of only $9.50 and a cup of coffee for $3. The coffee is unlimited. BLT was pretty solid but nothing that blew me away. I'd love to try their breakfast food sometime. My friend got old style French toast and they were very willing to customize it to her preferences (adding whip cream and berries). She also got tea as well, which was just prepackaged tea bags. Overall, great place if you just want a casual breakfast or brunch and you live around the area.

The food is not good at all. The chicken tastes like fish. I would not recommend the parfait. Way overpriced.

I had the single cheeseburger and it lived up to the hype. I learned that the single burger is actually a double and the double is actually a triple. I was recommended to add an egg and bacon to the burger and I'm glad I did. Each bite was a glorious burst of flavor. The bacon is epic. Thick juicy slices. The cheeseburger was perfect. I didn't need additional condiments and that never happens for me. The fries were good too and came with a delicious aioli. For beverages, I loved my Arnold Palmer. I also tried a cocktail--the Long Island Iced Coffee. It was pretty strong. I added a shot of bourbon cream to it and that sweetened it up and made it perfect for me. Unfortunately, I didn't have room for dessert. Cute restaurant. Cozy inside. They have an outdoor patio as well. If you don't have a reservation, be prepared to wait. Excellent food. Excellent service. Jennifer took great care of me and made great suggestions. It's pricy but it's worth it.

Several people who have either visited or lived in Chicago told me to try the infamous cheeseburger…read moreat Au Cheval so I made it a point to stop by during my trip. I planned to dine at Au Cheval for Sunday lunch and unfortunately there weren't any reservations available on Resy for lunchtime when I checked. Of note, Resy charges $2.50 per person to book the reservation which does not go towards the bill. After looping around for parking and finding a metered spot, I checked in at the restaurant shortly after 11:30am and was told I was 28th in line and the host could not quote a wait time due to the inclusion of online reservations. I thought that was a bit odd so I ended up walking around to explore the surrounding businesses. I finally received a text that my table was ready around thirty minutes later. The restaurant itself is not big but gives off an old fashioned vibe which I guess correlated with the type of food served. I ordered a single cheeseburger, a side of thick cut peppered bacon, and a side of French fries. I figured it was more economical to order a side of bacon rather than adding it to my burger so I can eat as much or as little as I wanted. The food came around fifteen minutes later. The burger itself did not look as big on the plate as I expected, although it was apparent how thick the two hamburger patties were. Since everyone was raving about the burger I had high expectations which unfortunately were not met. The burger tasted like a burger found at any average diner across the country. The bacon pieces were thick and flavorful but I don't think they elevated the burger as much as I'd like. Also, I wished there were cheese options rather than offering only American cheese which is probably the cheapest cheese that can be added on a burger. The fries reminded me of In-N-Out fries but the fries at the bottom of the cup were way too salty as if all the salt was added to the bottom of the cup instead of trickling down after being sprinkled on the fries on top. Considering all the hype about Au Cheval and the claims that their cheeseburger is one of the best burgers in the country or world, I was very underwhelmed. If this burger were to represent the Chicago food scene on a national level, it should rank lower than several other major cities in the United States.
