    Jerk chicken

I've gotten advertisements for this place on Facebook & Instagram. Once I realized where I was I made a bee line to it lol. It was like I was destined to go when I did, no line. When you walk in its walls are painted the colors of the Jamaican flag, you can see what's available in front you next to the register with the drinks available in the refrigerator. Everything I wanted was available & I spent over $30 but also fed myself for 2 days. The jerk chicken fell off the bone and was seasoned perfectly, the rice & cabbage were also hitters. I also ordered 2 beef patties as well, had to make sure I got to try everything I thought about real quick. It was worth it, take the chance & come try it out.

The jerk chicken and oxtail combo with their rice, plantain and cabbage. On the background is the Jamaican patties. See the partial bite?

Excellent! I have never tried Jamaican food combo I think. I ordered their 2 meat combo which was oxtail and jerk chicken. The combo came with cabbage, plantains and Jamaican rice. Let's start with the jerk chicken. It was Smoky, lightly spiced that had a light seasoning. It was a pleasure to eat especially with their yellow hot sauce. The oxtail. Yum. The meat tenderness was perfect. The meat comes off from the bones but not too soft. The flavor was new for me in terms of the spice and the sauce it was cooked on. It was very delicious. The rice was delicious with pieces of meat and beans integrated on it. I also ordered the Jamaican patties (empanada ish). I have no room in my belly so I only tried the beef. That one was an explosion of flavor! Can't wait to snack on the chicken patty later. This place is highly recommended if you're looking for quality food. There was no shortcut on how these foods were made. You can tell from the taste. Lotsa heart. Portions are huge. Make sure you come hungry.

Found this place I wanted to try something new. I saw that it had a lot of great reviews. Not disappointed at all! The staff were friendly and explained the menu. The portions are large portions and the flavors of the food explode in your mouth! We decided to eat there and my family and I enjoyed the music and all the friendly people coming in and out. You can tell the place gets a lot of phone orders. Excited to come back!

The food is phenomenal. Tender, tasteful, and cooked with lots of love. The wait time can be hit or miss, and they may run out of your favorite items. They were out of rice when I came, so I had to wait 30 minutes for more rice to be prepared. They were also out of jerk chicken for the day. However, I would encourage you all to keep an open mind. Because everything that was on my plate was beyond delicious. The curry goat, the curry chicken, the brown stew chicken... you can't go wrong with any of the meats here! All of the items fell off the bone and were packed with flavor. The workers here are also very friendly and eager to please. They work hard, and promote quality over quantity with their cooking I highly recommend Jamaica's Island Style Restaurant for a stacked, hearty, flavorsome plate!

If you like Jamaican / Caribbean food, this place is a solid spot. It's not fine-dining -- more casual, laid-back, with homestyle vibes. For authentic flavors, good portion sizes, and friendly people, it delivers. We came when all items were available. Oxtail was a must. The jerk chicken is always flavorful here. Lots of parking in the plaza. The owners are friendly and helpful and clean restrooms.

Ordered oxtails and it was delicious, no complaints. Only thing was no menu was available. Much better than the curry goat. Just don't order curry goat hear it's no good. I really enjoy the oxtail though.

I've come here a few times to eat, pick-up and dine in. The service is always fast and friendly. This is a cute place to sit and eat and enjoy a delicious meal. Everything is flavored well and hot. If you want something fresh and hot order the fried chicken! I didn't get a picture from my dine in experience but it's my favorite so far! The chicken was seasoned, crispy and tender! If you're looking for some quick comfort food that hits the spot definitely give them a try!

A lady from another restaurant told us about this place cus she heard me lookin for Jamaican beef patties. I was happy to see it wasn't just that! It was a whole authentic Jamaican restaurant and they was serving up oxtails and jerk chicken!! I had to get me a plate. Upon walking in we were already greeted. It smelled so good in there I couldn't wait to get my plate. I went with a two entree plate ($21). I did oxtails (extra $10) and jerk chicken. The plates come with rice & peas, cabbage & plantains. I also ordered a Jamaican beef patty on the side ($4). Asked them for some kind of hot sauce. While waiting there we got to watch Jamaican music videos which I really enjoyed. Love me some reggae!! Food didn't take too long to come out. I was too excited to eat lol. Tried my plate in the car. BUSSIN!! Jerk chicken hit the spot with the right amount of jerk spices and had a good kick to it. Went well with the rice and peas. They put a lot of food in the container too. It was packed! The oxtail was flavorful and fell off the bone and they don't skimp on it neither. Everything tasted good together. I really like the cabbage as well. Almost tasted like a ramen chicken seasoning packet but I wasn't mad at it! Then u get a little sweetness from the plantains. I ate my Jamaican beef patty with the sauce provided. Idk if it's a bbq sauce or not but it reminded me of it and it had a kick to it as well. Not overwhelmingly spicy tho. Would love to come back to try the curry chicken when I visit Lancaster again! That's mando!!

The ambience was amazing as well! Very clean and spacious!! There was great music playing which added to the experience !

The food is bomb. The flavor was on point and wasn't just spicy but really had good balance. The cabbage was the best I've had. They give you a lot of food too. Get there before closing otherwise they are gonna sell out of the food (not surprised the food is bomb). The space was very clean and spacious and the music was good. Great spot to have in the AV and the couple who owns the place was really kind.

I really wanted to give this place higher review I came in with an open mind. I will say when you walk in you can smell the food and the food is very fresh. I decided to go with the stew chicken. Although the chicken itself was not dry there was no juice in my stew chicken. Then rice and peas were very bland and the cabbage was also. The plantains we're soft on the outside but hard in the middle. But I will say the lady and the gentleman that's on the counter are very friendly. I will give this place another try. They were out of macaroni pie and I went at the end of the day around 6:00 p.m..

I decided to try out Jamaica's Island Style Restaurant for lunch but I wanted to enjoy it on a patio, since it's a gorgeous day. Bravery allows outside food and I knew they could choose a good beer to complement my order. Here's what I ordered: 2 Meat - Jerk Chicken & Oxtails This comes with rice, cabbage and plantains Jamaican patty The gentleman behind the counter was fantastic! He explained the menu and I asked for him to choose my order since I've never had Jamaican food. I appreciated his patience and kindness. When I showed up at Bravery, I asked the gentleman to choose a beer to go with my order. I wish I could remember the name of the beer (it's pictured with the food). He gave a great recommendation. It went very well with the food. The jerk chicken literally fell off the bone. The sauce he included added a smoky/vinegary addition to the very well seasoned chicken. It's beautiful on its own but the sauce takes it to another level and adds some spice. I loved it! My first time ever eating oxtails was SOOO good! It made me happy to try something new and savor every bite. They were also very tender and just perfection. Their rice is earthy, I could just eat it alone and be happy but man did I enjoy it with the chicken. The cabbage was fresh, I enjoyed the slight crunch and the added veggies. The plantains were so good! I love their texture and flavor. The Jamaican patty was delicious! My first bite I, at first, didn't know if I liked it. The second bite confirmed I didn't like it, I LOVED it! I enjoy the filling and that it has a little spice. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

And am I glad I followed my spirit in this one! When I pulled up I was greeted with fragrant scent of spice then the doors opens to deep aromas of jerk and curry! Bag was ready and piping hot! And I must tell you it was the longest 14.6 miles home ever with all those spices slapping me in the face! We ordered 2 Dinners and a side. Dinner one was Oxtails with gravy the second was Curry Chicken. Each dinner comes with rice and peas, a cabbage mix and plantains. Along with a side of jerk chicken. The oxtails were delicious. Be sure to ask for heavy gravy as that's kind of light (Wish I had asked for that on the Curry). The flavor was so deep I flew back to my island retreat in my mind!! I am know as the bland food eater so the curry and oxtails were at my spice max. I enjoyed the fullness of the spices and even appreciated the heat that came with it . I polished off the remaining rice and peas later in the evening (glad I ask for additional gravy) and I think the flavor may have been a bit better after settling at room temp, as I I was staring at the plate like why isn't there more!! I did bravely taste the jerk and it too was a very Carribean scent (although too spicy for me personally) the flyover was rich and chicken was moist so that a plus and my partner gobbled it up so tells me that the item was good. Tameka, you and your hubby need a store front restaurant , food truck or hell a cart to be tablet to serve the AV. Y'all owe it to yourselves, the AV. The community, heck to me! There was plenty of parking in this lot. The entrance is located through their patio, which can be a bit counter intuitive. We came at opening and the restaurant got really busy during our time there. Initially we were looking at the sandwiches because it was lunch time, but then we were going to a wedding that night so we decided to eat something more filling since the ceremony and speeches always delay the eating. All entrees here are served with black beans and rice or congri, and 3 fried plantains. My boyfriend had the Ropa Vieja ($28) with the congri and I had the Lechon Asado ($25) with the rice and beans. Our food came out pretty fast after we ordered. My boyfriend's Ropa Vieja is a Cuban braised beef. The congri is basically a mix of the rice and beans. This dish was super tasty and the shredded beef was so tender with the bell peppers and onions. I can really taste the red wine and tomato sauce in the base. I took a few bites but in general I preferred my dish more, and vis versa he enjoyed his dish more. My lechon asado is a roasted pork that is super super tenderrrrrr. It was so sweet with the grilled onions and it had the perfect amount of fattiness without being over bearing. SO GOOD! Love the plaintains too. I'm glad I got the rice and beans option because I would have gotten too full too quick with the congri. I barely touched my beans and only got through half of my rice. Both dishes came with this super tasty garlic butter sauce that I poured on my rice and made it even tastier. It was so good. One thing I didn't enjoy about the experience was the flies attacking us and our food. Since the door is open and connected to their outdoor space, it leaves the opportunities for flies to come in. We had to play defense with the flies the whole time. The service here is a little slow. Especially when I was trying to get back on the road I wasn't feeling too patient. I waived down multiple staff members too. Also I got hit with an undisclosed 3% surcharge for using my credit card. I only found out after I got the receipt. I would have paid in cash if I knew. *dislike* LOVE LOVE LOVE the food. Might be the best Cuban food I've ever had... and I've been to Florida where there was a lot of Cuban spots. Room for improvement with service, flies prevention, and the disclosure of the credit card fee.

The food quality is spectacular! I always get the Baracoa Cubano sandwich and it never disappoints. The ingredients are fresh and organic with each dish I've ordered. Since I have allergies to ingredients used to preserve frozen food, it's always been so hard finding a restaurant with a menu that doesn't cause me issues--and Baracoa has never compromised with their ingredients! The organic quality of their food is something you'll taste on your first bite. And finally--the service is impeccable and I have yet to see such excellent hospitality at any restaurant I've visited, even in Los Angeles! The waiters are always kind, attentive, and energetic with their behavior and service. It's very easy to tell they love the work they do and it shows in their work ethic. In addition to that, the managers are always making sure we're having an excellent night and have transformed it to a level of service we've never seen! My parents and I went a week ago and talked to Daniel the Manager about how much we missed a Piña Colada from a closed restaurant which would make it in the pineapple itself--and he said if we promised to be there in a week he's make it himself. We came on Friday, and the joy that my family felt was palpable when Daniel came out with the drinks we've wished for years now since that restaurant closed! Honestly, I've never heard of someone caring for their guests so much to do that--truly everyone should visit this establishment and experience true fine dining. I don't think I'll ever eat anywhere else for a special occasion ever again.

Typically in a Jamaican restaurant, the ruder the service, the better the food is. This spot is the happy exception to the rule. The food was EXCELLENT. I asked for a recommendation for their best menu option and she suggested their fried chicken and maaaaaannnnnn, I think about that chicken like white dudes think about the Roman Empire. I'm actively trying to come up with reasons to take the long drive back to Chatsworth to try more of their menu. If you're ever in the area, this is worth a visit.

I was craving Jamaican food and ordered from this restaurant on Uber Eats last night…read more Unfortunately, my order never arrived because the restaurant was closed, even though they were still accepting orders on Uber. Wanting to give them another chance, I ordered again this morning. I got the jerk chicken special with rice and peas and cabbage, expecting a fresh, flavorful meal. Sadly, the experience was very disappointing. The jerk chicken was extremely tough and dry, the rice and peas tasted old, and the cabbage appeared spoiled& had a terrible smell (not edible) I spit it right out my mouth. The entire meal was not fresh and was simply reheated in a microwave. I eat Jamaican food regularly, so I know what fresh Jamaican cuisine should taste like. I called the restaurant to address my concerns and hopefully find a resolution. Instead of listening or attempting to make things right, I was repeatedly told that the food was fresh. There was no effort to resolve the issue or acknowledge my experience as a customer. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but after two disappointing experiences in less than 24 hours, I felt it was important to share. Hopefully this helps others make an informed decision before ordering.
