    Oxtail plate
    Chirnese L.

It was my first time ordering from here. The oxtail plate was delicious. (I do like my oxtails a lil more tender though - an extra 5-10 min in the instant pot). Flavors were great. I like to save the plantains til the end - it's like a dessert. Next time I have a craving for Jamaican food I will definitely hit them up. Blessings to this business.

The best Jamaican food in the AV hands down! The jerk chicken is well seasoned and I love the portion size. Definitely recommend!

Everything was flavorful, well prepared, and the portions were satisfying. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. The service was excellent. They gave us plenty of time to look over the menu without making us feel rushed, which we really appreciated. Our waitress was very sweet, friendly, and helpful throughout the meal. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, making it an enjoyable dining experience.

The atmosphere is usually chill, which is another reason I enjoyed coming here so often. The food is genuinely delicious. I've had the salmon, and I'm a big fan of the wings and the juices. I used to come here regularly, and I liked the place enough that I even chose them to cater an event for my job. I gave them a specific headcount and explained how much food we would need. They assured me that everything would be taken care of, so I trusted them and put a lot of hype behind the restaurant. Unfortunately, the catering experience was a major disappointment. Not only was our order late, but there was barely enough food for everyone. After being clear about the number of people attending and trusting their team to properly prepare for the event, it felt like they completely dropped the ball. I had recommended and hyped up this place, only for the experience to be subpar and for several things to go wrong. It honestly felt like they played in my face, especially after assuring me that everything was handled. I would have given this place five stars based on the food and my previous experiences, but that catering situation left such a sour taste in my mouth that I haven't returned in quite some time. Loyalty should mean something, and it's difficult to continue supporting a business when you don't feel respected or valued as a customer. The food is still delicious, and I truly enjoyed this place for a long time. But after that experience, I don't think I'll be coming back. I'm sorry, because I really wanted to continue supporting them.

We got their jerk chicken and curry chicken plate. The red beans and rice were great and each of the chicken flavors were fantastic. This time, it came with a double portion of stewed cabbage rather than plantains and collard greens but they were so flavorful. All this food and a canned drink for $10, an unchanged price since 2018 is such a shock for this level of high quality food. 100% support this awesome local business.

Barrington's fits the bill for a casual stop for good value! We came Saturday afternoon around 12 and I got the chicken curry and jerk chicken combo with rice, cabbage, and plantains for $10. What a steal! I really enjoyed the chicken curry which was a fall of the bone drumstick with amazing flavor. The jerk chicken was not as flavorful and not as tender. I would skip this next time. My husband got the combo of oxtail and goat curry, which we were told wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes. We came back around for his combo which cost a bit more ~$16. He loved the oxtail but though the goat curry fell a bit short. Overall, great value and good food. Get the chicken curry & oxtail (weekends)!

I was craving Jamaican food and ordered from this restaurant on Uber Eats last night…read more Unfortunately, my order never arrived because the restaurant was closed, even though they were still accepting orders on Uber. Wanting to give them another chance, I ordered again this morning. I got the jerk chicken special with rice and peas and cabbage, expecting a fresh, flavorful meal. Sadly, the experience was very disappointing. The jerk chicken was extremely tough and dry, the rice and peas tasted old, and the cabbage appeared spoiled& had a terrible smell (not edible) I spit it right out my mouth. The entire meal was not fresh and was simply reheated in a microwave. I eat Jamaican food regularly, so I know what fresh Jamaican cuisine should taste like. I called the restaurant to address my concerns and hopefully find a resolution. Instead of listening or attempting to make things right, I was repeatedly told that the food was fresh. There was no effort to resolve the issue or acknowledge my experience as a customer. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but after two disappointing experiences in less than 24 hours, I felt it was important to share. Hopefully this helps others make an informed decision before ordering.

Stopped by this restaurant towards the end of the day on a a Saturday…read more Experience: since I'm not local, I called first to make sure they had oxtails and jerk chicken. The gentleman who answered, was dry and quick. Damn near hung the phone up in my face to get off the phone so fast. Upon arrival, said gentleman was sitting at one of the dining tables. It was empty inside of customers. I greeted him with an excited smile and he softened his disposition. Now, if you know Jamaicans, being fair I wasn't overly surprised at his stoicism and seriousness. The restaurant: There was only the remaining patties in the display case. Outside of that, a pretty empty place. Doesn't look like a bustling and meticulously decorated restaurant. It's cold and cafeteria like. There's no smell of deliciousness in the air and again nothing to see. No pictures of the food, nothing. Even the kitchen was so clean and closed down, it looks like the food is prepared elsewhere and brought in. Service: the gentleman wasn't rude. He just didn't offer any advise, ask any questions.. nothing. But as I was waiting on my plate, another young lady walked in. She called in as well and received the same dry and quick energy when she called. But when she walked into the establishment, clearly she's a regular. He lit up like a Xmas tree. She was such a pleasant and beautifully spirited woman, she gave her opinion of the gold (she said it was good). The food: Reminder, I was basically going off of the pictures on Yelp. My boyfriend talking about if the Mac n cheese looks good get him some. My response, I can't see a dang thing! The regular customer was surprised they had Mac n cheese (mind you). I ordered a large Oxtail plate. Wasn't asked about sides at all. Basically giving I'm getting what he's got. And I ordered a large jerk chicken plate. When the gentleman began bagging up my food, before he tied it up, when I saw him try and give me (1) small ahss thing of jerk sauce.. I had to stop him to look before he tied it up. Sure enough, chicken dry as hell. For dang near half a chicken with some dry rice and peas (1) jerk sauce?? At the price point of each plate (over $25) . I ask for more sauce, I said, if I bring this home to my boyfriend he's going to have a fit! He gave me one more. I insisted another and he was getting ready to deny it, but ok told him I'll pay for it. I said there's no way my BF is eating that dry. I was so caught up in making sure the jerk was right, I didn't peep everything else too deep. I bought (2) patties as well (beef). $70 to feed (2) with large plates and a patty. The Oxtails: small oxtails, a good portion. They were ok. Some pieces were a little tough and dry, let me know this was definitely the bottom of the pot. Had they had Mac n cheese (they were out) I would have opted for that over rice and peas. Only because most places don't do it right. Again, it's end of the day.. Both my plates definitely got the burnt bottom. My boyfriend had more of the crispy parts than I. But definitely dry and sitting. BUT not bad actually. I threw some of this Carribean hot sauce I have on it, turned it up. The oxtails: 6.5/10, The cabbage a total NO (0/10) . The beef patty: 9/10 (good ). The rice and peas: 6.5/10 The jerk chicken... as a disclaimer, Jamaica is my choice vacation spot, jerk being a staple upon visits. So my idea of what jerk should taste and look like is high. Do not expect your chicken to come to you already sauced. It's dry, like it's straight off the grill. The chicken was tender, and had a really good flavor. Without the jerk sauce. Now does it give me that taste the grills in Jamaica give the chicken. No. Being fair, it has a really good Smokey grill to it. IF you have your own jerk sauce use it. The sauce they provide the texture wasn't saucy more like applesauce texture. It wasn't spicy and just not jerkie. The jerk: 7.5/10 Last, I was irritated I didn't pay attention. The menu I could have swore said , festivals come with the plates. Instead we were given (1) plantain each. That had me hot. Overall: 6.5/10

First off, the cafe is bright, colorful, and warm and was running a 90's - 2000's spotify mix that was right up my wife's alley. Very relaxed atmosphere and we felt welcome immediately. We absolutely wanted to note that everyone working that day were very helpful and nice. A special shout out to our waitress Trisha (sp?) who helped us with some honest recommendations and made sure we were taken care of. On to the food! 1. Jerk Potatoes - These were fantastic. Strong, well seasoned, and very filling. This was the first thing on the table, and was honestly enough food for both my wife and I. This is what we want to eat in the morning after a night out, while watching a chinese drama on Netflix, or after a nice hike. Great dish, great first impression. 2. Seamoss Shake - Tricia helped me convince myself that this was healthy because seamoss is a health food! Good enough for me! I actually love this, my wife did too. I mean, it's a milkshake so it's sweet, but not overwhelmingly so and had a really nice earthy tint to it. Would order again. For health reasons. 3. Fried Chicken Wings & Waffles - No complaints about the waffles, actually quite good overall. The chicken was also very well done, moist, tender, well fried. The highlight of this dish though, was the jerk spicy dipping sauce that came with the dish. For all those chinese people out there, it's like the sweet and sour sauce used in peking ribs, but with some additional spices that really took it to another level. 4. French Toast, Eggs & Bacon - My older son tends to order this whenever it's available. Not much to say, it was tasty and he left no crumbs. We also ordered curried goat and brown stew chicken, but we actually took those orders home since we were full from the first few dishes. Great spot, great people, would recommend! As a side note, I fully support the Seamoss Shake health food movement. Thanks y'all!

Chicken was soooo tender and had a smoky flavor to it. The cabbage was seasoned well and rice was cooked perfectly. Mac and cheese plate was super weak in my opinion - I was expecting the Mac and cheese you get at a back yard bbq. Lacked in cheese and flavor. Some edges had a nice cheese pull but for the most part it was just a lot of noodle. Would have loved to enjoy it with the short ribs per their advertisement - but they had ran out so we got some crispy wings. Portion is big - not sure on the how much it was though, as the menu wasn't priced. I would advise to pair your meal with one of their house-made specialty juices if you don't get a ginger beer! I had their pineapple-ginger, a Jamaican staple and goes so well with their cuisine. oh. GET THE PATTY. If all else fails, get the damn Jamaican patty. Beef and curry chicken are my favs. All of the patties are crispy, Flaky, and buttery. I was pleasantly surprised to know that these are the same patties served to you at none other than Simply Wholesome, in LA. A grand staple for the community. Savanna, helped us out for the evening and she was lovely and helpful! Would come back just for the customer service itself.
