Horrible service, they never pick up their phone or call back during their ridiculous 12-4 business hours 1 day a week. Change my mind...

The employee behind the register was super friendly and helped us narrow down our selections: curry chicken roti wrap, red pepper goat roti wrap, jerk chicken, and mac and cheese pie. Highlights were the curry chicken roti and jerk chicken - soooo goood! My buddies were all about the mac and cheese though! Seating space is somewhat limited with a handful of tables inside and a couple outdoors, but didn't have any issues finding a spot at the time. Didn't see a parking lot, but got lucky with nearby street parking. Solid place, would definitely hit it up again!

I just gave in and ordered delivery, and ended up with one of the best meals I've had in a long time. I got the plantains, the oxtail patty, and the wings. Those flavors thrilled me. I was shocked at how good each new thing was. I've since had it a few more times. My only complaint is that the shrimp roti isn't as good as it could be. My shrimp were over cooked, and the flavor is missing something. My favorite has been the pepper goat roti. BABY! That is about to be a problem for my wallet. What a delicious creation. What a beautiful restaurant. Glad it exists. This place has a new fan out of me.

And I had to ask "What is a Jamaican Style Meat Patty"? and they told me it's like an empanada! But WOAH. It's much bigger than any empanada I've ever seen! The staff was super nice on the phone to me when they explained what it was and that we were able to turn the meat patty into a vegetarian friendly version - nice! They also had a vegetarian one! So we grabbed 2 and got 2 free then decided to also order their vegetarian curry because we thought the meat patties wouldn't be enough. But omg. It was more than enough! The meat patties were huge and thick! And so so so FLAVORFUL! When you come to their shop inside the food hall the shop looks unassuming, it's cluttered and doesn't really give me the excitement of wanting to order here but wow wow wow. Once we ate it we were like "we shouldn't have judged!" Once we dived into the curry we were just waaaay to full but the vegetarian curry was so good. Not as flavorful as the meat patty (should've had the curry first so our tastebuds wern't overwhelmed!" but still tasty nonetheless! It had so much chickpeas and the rice was pretty good! I think we're going to have to come back and try it again when we're in the area!

I was…read moreinitially unsure what to order, but the woman at the counter recommended the Oxtail & Jerk Combo ($23) with half portions, which was excellent! The Jerk chicken was cooked perfectly, though the spice level was mild, even after a warning. The oxtail was tender and good, but not the best I've had. While the rice and beans were a bit too wet, the plantains and cabbage were great. I would have preferred some hot sauce and fluffier rice, but overall it was a solid meal. A text notification system for when orders are ready would be a helpful addition, especially for those seated away from the counter. The staff member gave an estimated time, and my food was actually ready sooner, which I wasn't aware of. While not a major issue, this is an area that could be improved. The service was friendly and helpful, and I would definitely return to try more of their dishes. While the food overall was good, a few things fell short, like the rice. Overall, it's a tough call because the food deserves more than 4 stars. Caribbean Gourmet is easily the best Caribbean spot in the SGV and my second favorite in LA County. The prices are very fair for the portion sizes, and I must highlight how affordable they are, especially these days. Kudos to Caribbean Gourmet for keeping prices affordable while serving delicious food!

The curry goat was the standout--hands down the best I've had. The oxtail was really good too. The stew chicken was just okay, nothing special, but the rest of the plate more than made up for it. On the corner of Prairie & El Segundo, not too far from the corner of 120th & Crenshaw, where yours' truly used to work, lies Donna's Home Caribbean. You have to look close because the restaurant, like the tiny parking lot, is unassuming. But the food is not unassuming, my favorites being the oxtails, goat curry and jerk chicken. Also it's peas & rice over the beans & rice for me, at least at Donna's. It's small and for some that are not used to the cuisine, the aroma and aesthetics may be an acquired taste. Sorry princesses, you might want to stay home. But if you brave on there is dopamine centers this food can hit. Stay pushing onward and forward my friends....

Both were amazing and I had it over rice, as I am not a fan of Roti. It is not a spicy curry like I am used too in Jamaican or Indian style dishes, which is a wonderful change as it seems the older I get I cannot take the heat. Instead it is creamy, and dare I say sweet. While it needs nothing, the tamarind and mango chutney are both worth a try. The truck also lives up to its name serving your food almost immediately after ordering. I had to take away a star for their portion size. It is not a full lunch even though they offer small and large. This comes from someone who does not eat much! I expected to order the large and maybe have some left overs (Most Caribbean portion sizes are a lot bigger and include sides like cabbage, salad and/or plantains). I could see the plates were served in a styrofoam container with three pockets. So my expectations were a lot bigger. As soon as I picked it up plate was noticeably light. They only use the main pocket and it is barely full. I expect more from a large portion of anything. I have a picture with my fork sticking in it for reference. It taste amazing but leaves unsatisfied and yearning for more.
