Although there is controversy about whether Jamba Juice uses whole fruit or just fruit juice in its smoothies, they do make some good tasting and (compared to some of the one-off establishments) relatively inexpensive smoothies. Keep in mind that when you pulverize fruit or vegetables the sugar in them gets released ("free sugar") and the fiber is broken up making it less healthful than eating the whole fruit or veggie. You wouldn't sit down and eat five oranges or apples but you would drink a smoothie or juice containing all of these at once. I feel the responsibility to share what I believe is a public health issue. The store attaches the key for the restroom to what looks like a jumbo plastic straw. As I was waiting for my Jamba order, I saw the key being returned by a customer who had just come out of the restroom to the employee that handled putting orders in cups to give to customers. Most restaurants have their cashier handle such keys since they are not the ones preparing the food or drinks. The store was very dirty and unkept, and they also charge $2 more for their drinks because of their location in Tahoe. They didn't even fill up the entire cup, and I ended up getting a stomachache. I call and don't even need to say my order they just greet me over the phone by name and tell me my smoothie will be ready when I arrive. I live down the street. I ordered a small watermelon breeze, paid extra to add bananas. It always ends up being bigger than the small size so they put it in the next size cup. My small cup wasn't even full. I was shorted even though I paid for an extra ingredient. On top of that they were out of the sherbet that went with the smoothie. They were out of almost all the sherbets. I get it they were busy. No big deal. So then I asked for the peanut butter toast and I was told their toaster was broken. I'm not sure if it was broken or they just didn't want to make it. If the toaster is broken and they don't have enough product it sounds like management needs to get it figured out. No one greeted me or let me know if they would be with me shortly. I LOVE Jamba Juice! The manager took my order and I waited by one of the tables. He was scolding his employee who arrived late. This employee had a HUGE head of poofy hair and he was finger combing it and running his hands through it while standing next to all the fruits. I was looking through their paper menu and I just realized the guy never asked me what free boost I wanted. I turned to him and told him to add energy boost to all the drinks. He's like "what boost?" After a few minutes he turns to the girl making the drinks and asks if she added the boost. Ofcourse she didn't when YOU didn't even ask me what boost I wanted. She's all like "what? what boost? huh?" Amother woman heard me asking for my boost and she turns to the guy and said "oh yeah. I forgot to tell you what boost I wanted." LOL! If you forgot, it should have been their job to ask you what boost you wanted. Every Jamba Juice I've been to has asked me right away what boost I wanted. When she was pouring the drinks he whispered to her "tell her you added the energy boost to all the drinks." WTF?!?! I know the energy boost wan't added. This location is so shady! I'll start off by saying on a trip to Tahoe, we visited Jamba Juice just about every day for lunch and ginger shots for our altitude sickness. Our beverages were always good, but not what I'd call consistent in flavor. The staff was polite and got our orders right every time, which was awesome because I'm picky. The worst parts about our experiences was that they charge 25¢ per cup of tap water (where it's free everywhere else) and the false advertising. The poster in their door states that you get $1 off for checking in on Facebook at Jamba Juice. However, the staff inside refused to honor that unless you also like their Facebook page, which was not part of their advertising. They claimed that the two signs were part of the same offer, but nowhere does it say that. All in all, our experience was great up until yesterday when we ran into those two issues. All I have to say is... EW. Some girlfriends and I went to this Jamba last Friday for a pre-road trip snack, before the long drive back to SF. We should have gone to Starbucks. First, I was given the wrong flavor muffin. Not a huge deal, but I asked for blueberry and got pumpkin - they don't even look the same. What if I was allergic to pumpkin or something? Then, we overheard a woman complaining about her daughter's smoothie. She said that it lacked flavor - not enough orange or something. Instead of the employee apologizing and remaking the smoothie, he got very defensive saying "Well I made it and I followed the instructions"... um, sorry, did you not hear her? She said the smoothie doesn't taste good enough. Fix it. What happened to the customer is always right? ... But this isn't even the worst part. We get in the car and go on our way, and after sipping my smoothie (which majorly lacked flavor by the way) for several minutes, I keep sucking up these small hair-like/thread-like strings. Ew. I don't even know what it was, but I do know that crap isn't supposed to come out of a Mango Mantra. I felt like someone took white cat hair and sprinkled it in my smoothie along with the energy boost... THEN THE WORST.... My friend nearly swallows a LARGE chunk of rubber - probably from the blender. Not only was she frightened out of her mind, but she wanted us to turn the car back around. Eventually, we got to a pit stop and threw out our unfinished smoothies. I would have written my Yelp review right there on my phone in the car, but my mobile app wouldn't let me. Cheerful staff, great view of Heavenly mountain, and a good place for Tahoe people watching. Just breathing the fresh morning mountain air into my lungs makes me happy. I'm not one to write bad reviews but my boyfriend and I had the strangest experience at this Jamba Juice. We saw online that it opened at 8:30 and went to the store at 8:50 to see that it wasn't open (the lights were all off and no one was inside). We looked at the updated covid hours posted and it confirmed that they opened at 8:30. We tried the door and it opened. We walked in and called out for someone a few times. After a minute or so, an employee came out from the back. She said she would be with us in just a minute. After about five minutes passed, we called out again asking how long it would be. She finally came out and said she was on the phone with the manager (I find it strange that a manager would be ok with her leaving a customer for over five minutes while she chatted - I assume she didn't tell the manager customers were there). We proceeded to order, all the while the lights in the whole place were off. We received our food and went on our way. Id like to say I'm a loyal customer of Jamba a juice and was extremely excited to get my jamba however when I first walked in the energy wasn't positive the atmosphere felt depressing and gloomy the back lights were off and the place did not seem very clean, I was a little taken back because the energy and customer service definitely was not a representation of what Jamba prides themselves in portraying..... I just didn't feel welcomed. Unfortunately my smoothie came out runny and when I approached the gentleman GM Rico at counter and informed him that my smoothie was too runny he responded combatively and said " You said double blended" I then I said to him that I requested my smoothie to be thick and ,double blended ; unfortunately at this time instead of him offering to make me a new smoothie or apologizing for the mistake again he responded defensively and said "You said double blended" at that point I was so disappointed with the customer service , I just requested for a refund. This is the first time that I have ever experienced an issue with Jamba Juice in regards to their customer service department. I'm hopeful that after reviewing this yelp upper management will address this issue so that other customers will not have to go through what I went through and feel as if I was a bother instead of a loyal customer .
