For our Galentines dinner we were craving pizza, happened to find this place, super glad , that happened. Small local pizza joint that had an east coast pizza vibe. Flour on the floor, flour in the air. Pizza made in front of your eyes. Fresh ingredients, huge pizza, I wish treat the menu all way I may have order by the slice but we love the pizza anyways. Orders the spinach and garlic white, we added the bacon, chicken and artichoke hearts. Love the big mugs to put our root beer in!! Service was many serve your self, but they will bring our your pizza. Only down side to this place I feel was the olive was a little heavy and make sure you have CASH!!!! That's all they take!!!!

Half spinach and garlic white pizza, half veggie lovers with Ali'i mushrooms. Gluten free!!! Delicious!

I love this place! Seriously, the pizza is amazing, the atmosphere is authentic. Pizzas take time, don't rush perfection. One man show some nights and he always delivers. He has gluten free crusts!

    meat lovers (thin crust) delicious

Best Pizza on the Big Island, being a seasoned traveler and now settling here on the Big island. I've had my share of pizza pies . Underground pizza is by far the best. James is a super cool guy, and the whole staff is very welcoming. The ambiance is so authentic. I really like the brick work and sitting at the Godfather table. We come here often. Id consider it a staple on the island. (Cash Only)

Favorite stop on our way back from Hilo. Great pizza, fresh toppings. It's small inside and there are tables on the lanai but it's Waimea so the wind is usually howling and it's cold!.

Omgosh! Yum! We got the spinach and garlic white pizza + bacon, grilled chicken and artichoke hearts! The olive oil was a little heavy, but it didn't take away from the flavor. Just a little messy. We dined in - there's four tables and an outside picnic table. Low lighting, family friendly and real authentic pizza place vibes. Did I teleport to the East Coast by chance? Everyone was nice, friendly and attentive -- for being Valentine's Day and a Friday night! If you're in the area and wanting pizza, I say, stop here! 4.3/5! Bring cash and your appetite! This pizza is filling!!

This was a little hole in the wall spot that we read about here on Yelp. We decided to check it out on our way through Waimea. It's a small space inside but they have a large table outside which is nice. You also sit wherever you can find a spot. Luckily we had cash on us because it's cash only! We ordered the meat lovers and the spinach and garlic white pizzas. We loved the thin crust! They were both good but not amazing. The owner was very nice as well. We would give it 3 1/2 stars if we could. If you're in the mood for pizza this is a good place.

I called to put in an order and the lady was ready to hang up on me after I ordered a pizza, but before I could order a salad and wings. When we got there, we forgot that they only took cash or check so we walked over to the gas station to get cash and five minutes later she forgot who we were. They were not even busy. The Caesar salad was $7 and was very small with just lettuce and six croutons. The salad dressing was crap. You'd think they could whip up some homemade dressing! Pizza wasn't good either. Sauce was like a can of tomato sauce. Won't go there again!

Another amazing pizza again tonight! You gotta check it out! Always love the traditional NU style!

Always prepared well. Best pizza in Hawai'i island. Thin crust is my favorite and size is huge.

    Does this place serve alcohol?

When there was no covid restaurant restrictions you were able to sit and bring your own wine or beer..I'm not sure if that has changed. But they do not sell alcohol on the premises

Cipriano's Kitchen - Kawaihae's Italian Treasure…read more Cipriano's Kitchen is one of those rare restaurants that keeps you thinking about your meal long after you've left. Chef Gino is generous with both his talent and his portions. Every dish showcases fresh ingredients, expert preparation, and a genuine love of Italian cooking. The menu is seafood-forward, featuring fresh local catches, handmade pasta, and flavors that are both authentic and creative. This family-run restaurant is made even more special by Claudia, Chef Gino's wife and culinary partner. Claudia bakes fresh focaccia daily and prepares the restaurant's gnocchi and pasta from scratch. As hostess, she warmly welcomes every guest and effortlessly serves as the restaurant's "walking menu," describing each dish with passion and detail. The presentation is stunning. Lobster, octopus, shrimp, clams, scallops, and house-made pasta arrive beautifully plated and bursting with flavor. The fresh focaccia alone is worth the visit. Every meal feels thoughtfully prepared, from the first bite to the last. What keeps me coming back is that the food is genuinely craveable. I find myself dining here every couple of weeks for lunch, and more often than not, I leave with a takeout order for dinner because I know I'll be thinking about it later. Cipriano's Kitchen isn't just serving Italian food--it's creating an experience centered around family, hospitality, and exceptional cooking. Kawaihae is fortunate to have this gem, and anyone who appreciates fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and heartfelt hospitality should make it a destination. A true Big Island favorite. "Come hungry. Leave happy. Plan your next visit before you've even finished your meal."

We had a reservation for three for dinner. We arrived 10 minutes early and we were explicitly told…read morewe were early and then we stood waiting until our reservation time when they seated us. Tables are mainly outside with loud street traffic noise. We were brought water fairly quickly and had our menus to review. We then waited for 13 to 15 minutes until a young waitress returned answered our questions and we ordered some focaccia bread and three glasses of Sangiovese. $19 a glass for a very poor red wine and then seven dollars for six small pieces of focaccia bread. The least expensive wine by the bottle was $79. Their corkage fee if you brought your own bottle was a mind-boggling $179. We got our wine and bread in a reasonable time and then had to wait another 10 minutes to place an order. We were in the mood to have salad, but the least expensive was a Caesar, $25 for a small plate. We ordered two pasta dishes And one ravioli dish, which came with three cheese ravioli. The dishes in price ranged from $48-$56 each. Our food came out, reasonably on time. We requested some Parmesan cheese and olive oil for the side. The pasta was handmade, fresh and delicious. We very much enjoyed the entrées taste and presentation. One of the pasta dishes was just lukewarm when served. Our bill for three adults was $250 before tax and tip. While the food was excellent, we felt that the service and location, along with the ambience was not worth that price.
