This would not be the premier rest stop on the NJ Turnpike. They do have working toilets and gas so that is why they got 2 stars. I think they need to remodel and update it. Put some healthy food in there or something. It's not the cleanest and not the dirtiest. read more

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat at the Burger King on a road trip. There was a long line but kept my order short and easy. #1 and #12 or Whopper and 10 Piece Chicken Nuggets. Unfortunately the workers did not want to work during at dinner rush and were arguing with each other. The order taker would tell the burger maker to make the whopper and he just refused to do it. The other workers took some coaxing before the eventually stepped in to work begrudgingly. It took about 15 minutes or more to just pick up the burger. Burger consistency was good but if you're in a rush or want a quick bite this place will slow you down. read more

Merited a 2 Star only because there is a 24 hour garage on-site in case of emergency while traveling. The Women's restroom smells like death - actually, it smells exactly like a public restroom in Istanbul; literally a hole in the floor with old urine everywhere...not sure how that scent has been achieved here with standard toilets and plumbing.... read more

A real garbage dump, much like the rest of the state. Restrooms are nasty. Food options are only marginally better. My advice: skip this rest area and head for Delaware. Because anything could happen in Jersey...like food poisoning, car accidents, and Chris Christie. read more

Wasn't the cleanest place, but it was OK. It served it's purpose. They had food, fuel, and a place to relax a little after a long day on the road. Their food choices were decent. Thanks God James Fenimore has long past. This place is like New Jersey in general, over crowded and absolutely filthy. I mean the parking lot was sticky, garbage overflowing everywhere. Glass entry doors with 10000 oily fingerprints. I would piss in my own mouth rather than use the bathrooms here. The people in Jersey are just so used to gross that the gross here is nothing they are not used to. Delicious veggie burgers and fries at the Burger King! And I was so excited to see that this Burger King event mentioned the veggie burger in its digital menu sign!!! It was in the healthy items section, or something like that. This is my first time that I've noticed veggie burgers being publicized on a Burger King sign, although maybe it happens all the time. The Burger King also had a katrillion sauces to put on the food: ketchup, mustard, BBQ, sweet & sour, Buffalo, and something involving garlic. It was a feast! There was a nice outdoor seating area where you could enjoy your meal. (There was also lots of indoor seating, but outdoor is better.) I would stop here again! read more

Worst place on earth! Disgusting, smells like urine everywhere. You have to be so desperately hungry or needing to go to the bathroom to stop at this specific food/gas stop. We were on our way to NYC and had a crying toddler at back, and overall hungry and we don't know where the next stop is going to be. So we stopped here. Immediately my husband was apprehensive about going in as it looks kinda bad already from the outside. We stepped in, and they have the usual selection of fast food as well as Starbucks. The tables were gross, the floor is dirty and sticky. The bathroom was the absolute worse. The placement of the baby changing station was at the entrance of the women's bathroom which is inconvenient and was placed too high. Don't stop here! read more

This place is a germaphobe's worst nightmare. Better to drive the extra 15 miles to the next one. Of course it's normal to step into a public restroom with hesitation. BUT, the level of grime in this place has nothing to do with the crowds of people and everything to do with the management and staff's poor upkeep and maintenance of the place... So much dust in the stalls it looked "furry". Even the plastic covers over the toilet paper holders were covered in dust. No lids on the sanitary waste baskets (do I need to see all that??), broken stalls, filthy floor in the dining area, etc. It's a shame because the filth and grime was reason enough to skip on ordering anything to eat. The gum and prepackaged snacks in the convenient store are definitely your safest bet. I was too nervous the condition of the kitchens would match the rest of the facility. The gas station attendant was perfectly fine. I love Jersey for not having to pump my own gas and getting my windshield cleaned. The one star is for the ample space to walk my dog, and because toilet flushed and the hand dryers worked. Oh yeah...and gum. Next time I'll wait until I get to Woodrow Wilson rest area down the road and so should you. Whoever manages this location, needs to show some effort. Totally unacceptable. Reviews describing poor conditions are all accurate - and when we stopped on a Monday afternoon in August, there was no air conditioning. Additionally, all the emergency lights were flashing. Better to use Exit 5 conveniently located Cracker Barrel, Applebee's, and gas. read more

I stopped here on my way to Connecticut to get gas and have a bathroom break. Although the gas was cheap(er than Connecticut), the rest area, itself was THE WORST! This building has to be breaking all health code violations. There was nothing in this building that was "clean". The bathrooms were very dirty and the restaurants were not good looking what-so-ever. The floors were covered in a sticky sludge and the walls, tables, chairs, and windows looked discolored and dirty. The trash cans were overflowing in the dining area and the bathrooms. I think this is my last time stopping in here. This place is a great place to drive by, unless you are a health inspector or have a connection to a health inspector. Beware the "mechanics" who work in the "garage" at this rest stop. I stopped there with an issue (after dark, a woman traveling alone) and was told that the car needed an alternator and wouldn't make it to the next exit. I have AAA but was told that I'd have to call turnpike assistance for a tow off of the turnpike and then AAA to tow me the rest of the way to a garage that could do the work. 2.5 hours later my dad showed up and magically the issue went from alternator to loose battery connection. Drove the car all the way to Brooklyn with no issue. Ladies beware, and read your manuals so you know how to talk to potential scammers, I'm already a few chapters into mine. read more

It looks like this place got a make over. I was stuck here for a few hours during a recent ice storm. It was quite clean but it hadn't seen much traffic up until then. There is a Burger KIng, Starbucks, Popeye's, and a Cinnabon here. Overall it is small which means the distance to the restroom is short except if you need the handicapped ramp which is waaaaaay on the other side of the the rest stop and not covered so it gets quite icy. It was easier to get my cane bearing friend up to steps and into shelter easier than up the ramp. Poor design from an ADA perspective. read more

This place is absolutely disgusting. Trash cans overflowing all over the place. The ladies room, awful! Toilets overflowing with waste, broken toilets, smells. Waited to use it until someone walked out of a halfway decent stall. I left feeling like I need a shower. Wouldn't eat here if they paid me. There are no words. On our way out of town and stopped here for a restroom break on a Friday. The bathrooms were your usual not so clean truck stop restrooms. I pretty much got in and out of there. Took a break on the way to NJ. As soon as we left the car, we noticed a trashy parking lot. Every where cups, bags, paper scattered. Before we entered the building we noticed a stinky smell, like from a dumpster. The front glass doors were filthy, smeary! Facility inside in the same condition. Floors all over the place dirty! Restrooms not to mention! We did not even bother to get a snack nor something to drink. :(( read more

Not much to recommend here. Hard to find anything "healthy". Best bet would probably be a salad at Burger King, although we had chicken-burgers and fish-burgers. Worst part of our trip. We spent 6 minutes here and it was probably the worst 6 minutes of our trip. We all know New Jersey isn't a great state but this was just straight up bad. It said outside the bathroom 5 Star cleanliness and that it was constantly cleaned. NOPE! It was disgusting! Pee all over the bathroom floor, smells so bad. The faucet was broken or something (it was super hot). We get out and these Asian guys are yelling at each other. They had t-shirts! But, who'd want to buy a shirt from the armpit of the union. $17.99 EACH. Who'd spend that much on that junk. They had a deal for 2 for 30 but I bet I couldn't find 2 people that would wear that. At 6:15 am, the only places open are Burger King and the bathrooms (seems appropriate). Starbucks - closed for monkey-shine; Popeyes - closed (Thank God!); Convenience Store - closed (not very convenient); etc...your best bet is to continue to the next rest area as the people here are not interested in your satisfaction. read more
