This injury to my ankle has taken 8 months to get resolved. It would not be resolved without Dr…read moreNorthrop and also to doctor before him. It was in danger of amputation! It was scared the heck out of me but yet Dr Northrop was honest and told me what the risk was for and possible outcomes. I actually appreciate that. I'm a nurse and of course we are often critical of doctors. It took a visitor to until I was willing to trust. But at that point his bedside manner was good and he was extremely honest with me for the positive and the negative. I needed to hear that and also to know what steps to take to follow his direction to the best outcome I'm so glad I did that because now I see that my x-rays are regaining bone. I had a very complicated surgery Dr Northrop and actually three surgeries in total over the last 8 months. I am very fortunate to not have to have an amputation which was a possible outcome. My bone is regenerating, I'm on the final stage of healing. Dr Northrup would be my next go to if I ever, God forbid, needed help again. I will recommend him to anyone that has an absolute problem. We get surprised in life sometimes and people we don't expect to meet. I'm very glad I did and he was recommended to me. Thank you to Dr Northrup! And his staff also, a very pleasant office to visit and very efficient. I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 minutes if that. So relieved after all these months and glad that I had the care I did with Dr Northrup and his staff

They care about what happened and how you're doing and the quality was happy which made me feel goodread more

Flagler Hospital has treated my mother so well in the past. We came today on the recommendation of…read moreher doctor. She has fallen 4 times in the last 5 days and he wanted them to check her out and maybe admit her for observation. She had a small cut and bruising on her right arm. He patched that up and discharged her. We waited an hour after the nurse told us she was discharged and we disagreed for him to come back somewhat agitated and loud. He eventually ordered blood work, urinalysis and somewhat later a CT scan of her brain. So eventually the right thing but much disconnect between patient, nurse and doctor. I'm sure he's very good but communication broke down here tonight.

But some months later, I returned for a different issue. Much to my surprise, the horrific Dr. Miguel Machado appeared. This was the guy who saw me at the old Flagler ER. He's a retired neurosurgeon who is blatantly macho and sexist. My first encounter w/ him was a disaster--he was too busy being contemptuous of me to actually take the appropriate measures to treat my chief complaint. This resulted in my having a stroke. I thought that with the University of Florida incorporating Flagler, they'd give him the boot, as the current accepted practice is that only physicians trained in emergency medicine are supposed to staff ERs. Imagine my surprise and horror to go back to Flagler a 3rd time for a different issue, thinking it was now Machado free and therefore a safe ER, and to encounter Machado AGAIN! He armed himself with 2 beefy aides. As he himself is beefy, I was confronted by 3 hostile appearing men. Just the thing when one has an emergency. I knew I'd get nowhere and in fact didn't, so I left. I went to the Baptist South ER where my problem was treated promptly by a pleasant male ER dr. What a difference! However, I complained not only to the Flagler ER and hospital admins but to the State of Florida Board of Medicine. I heard back from them, but not from the Flagler people. I have heard no more since about any actions being taken. So, if you can choose, and aren't taken there by ambulance, go to Baptist South!! That will assure that you won't meet the hostile and incompetent Machado in your moment of peril. The hospital did send me a bill for $632.00 which I am contesting.
