I never knew about JRO until one day I spoke with a gentleman at work whom I work with named Craig. I told him I was going to get braces soon and he recommended me to see JRO. I took his advice the next day and came to JRO. When I first walked through the door I was greeted by a lovely receptionist who checked me in and led me to a young girl named Makenzie. I did not have to wait at all, Makenzie was ready for me and she even gave me a personal tour around the dental office building. I couldn't have been more thrilled to have her show me around and make me feel more welcome. She was ready to do her job and for not one second did she ever seem rude or mean in any way towards me. Her personality and smile could have brightened anyone's day. After getting some scans done for my teeth I spoke with a young lady named Kristin. When I first met Kristin it almost felt like we knew each other for forever. She was the nicest person I have ever met and I truly mean that. She offered me complimentary water and a cute bag from JRO. She went through the braces process in a way that was clear and easy to understand. She made me feel comfortable and excited about getting my teeth straighter. What was even better was that she was so excited for me. That made me feel warm and fuzzy inside for someone to feel so happy and excited for me. That same day I also got to meet Mr. Scarborough himself. When he entered the room to greet me he had such a great big smile. I really enjoyed getting to know him, he definitely helped me go through some things about my teeth and gave me more of a insight of how smoothly the process was going to go. My overall experience that day was one of the best ones I've ever experienced. With the complimentary hot chocolate and frozen yogurt to the amazing and wonderful staff I'm so glad I'm a member of JRO! Just the other day I had my braces put on by Lynn. She did such a great job on doing the job right. I was satisfied and happy that JRO could make this possible for me. I can't wait to see what my results will look like in 20 months. I have been a patient at JRO for almost one year and I can truly say they are the absolute BEST! The customer service is outstanding! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable! They offer lots of amenities such as an adult waiting room, the option for private treatment areas, Starbucks coffee, hot chocolate, frozen yogurt, free wi-fi, tablets available to use while waiting (which, by the way, is consistently the shortest waiting period I have ever experienced in a medical or dental office setting), a super cool Points/Rewards program that not only makes it easy to earn points but also offers Rewards that are attainable and that folks would want! There are just too many other wonderful things to list...and I haven't even mentioned the most important thing...the quality of care provided by Dr. Scarborough and his team of professionals! As an adult patient who wore braces as a teenager, I did quite a bit of research and made sure that I was informed prior to my consultation at JRO. I had originally elected to go with InvisAlign trays to correct my bite issues but, after a few months, I realized that they just weren't for me and Dr. Scarborough and his staff were super helpful with assisting me in the transition to Damon brackets. They were patient and understanding and gave no indication that I was inconveniencing them in any way. I am so happy with my decision to have Dr. Scarborough provide my orthodontic care and, even though I live on the other side of town, I would choose his practice a million times over! If i could give more than 10 stars I would...... I LOVE JRO. I came to them because I had lost my upper retainer. When I first walked in I was greeted nicely by the front desk receptionist who has a beautiful smile, Rachel the New Patient Coordinator. Waiting room was very comfortable and not to cold. Bathrooms were very clean and complimentary coffee, water and tea. When I got called back, the doctors assistant Lauren, Orthodontic Assistant was very nice, she was asking about all my adventures while she was taking digital images of my full mouth. Then I went to the consultation room and meet another lovely person, Kristin the Treatment Coordinator. I didn't feel like I was being pushed into any thing. She got to know a little bit about me and when ended up just talking about all sorts of adventures. Then I meet the Doctor, Dr. Larry Scarborough, such a friendly guy, I REALLY enjoyed him. He did not try to sell me on anything but what I had come in there for. They all listened to me about my finances at that time. He showed me the in's and out's of my teeth and the alignment, and in the future if I choose to do something else that they will always be there for me. The are affordable with payment plans. They want to see you bi monthly depending on what you are wearing. Since I had just an upper retainer to ware at night time, they just want me to come in to make sure everything fits correctly. I had to take my daughter here to JRO the other day! WOW! WOW, is what comes to mind! From the minute you walk through the office doors, you feel welcomed! The Receptionist greets you with a kind voice and a big smile directing you towards the beverage machine, and asking you to take a seat. We did not get to sit long when an Assistant came and gave us a small tour, smiling as bright as sunshine! She asked my daughter little questions here and there, also complementing her on her shoes (which my daughter is so proud of), at this point she had my daughter feeling very comfortable! We met another Assistant, who was just as pleasant and then the Dentist who was pleasant, professional explaining to us what needed to be done. What a wonderful experience. I can't say I have ever had such a wonderful experience at a Dentist of Doctors Office. They are wonderful! I left, with such a sense of calmness and the beautiful personalities in there put a smile on my face the rest of the day! Let's start with how frigen expensive braces are.. Now let me say.. With their sliding scale, it's like we don't even know we're paying for 2 children to have thousand dollar smiles!.. And in the end, it's gonna save us on therapy from having to go through school with jacked up teeth! Now let's talk about how nice everyone is here, and they give you ice cream! Really, your not gonna want to go home. We started before they were in their fancy office, and their just as humble now that their in short pump. Ok, maybe that didn't sound right.. All I can say is that we started treatment at Short Pump Orthodontics and we ran out of there broke and very unhappy, so much so that I left my daughters expander in her mouth because we just did not want to ever go back. It's the best decision we ever made.. Well at least when it comes to teeth and vanity. read more

Dr. Scarborough has insured that his staff are well trained and make their patients comfortable, informed and they are using some of the latest technology for the top notch dental care. Both of my older children had orthodontic care by great doctors; however, I must say I am impressed as James River Orthodontics has exceeded all of the care and service we have received to in all three of my children's experience. So we looked at a few places for orthodontic treatment before walking into James River orthodontics. Hands down As soon as you walk in the staff is so wonderful how I described it to my husband was it's like a magical happy place where you want to go every day because everyone is so friendly and inviting. We obviously chose James River orthodontics and are so happy that this is our home for treatment. The doctors are wonderful the staff is wonderful. The team at JRO is first rate! Front the attentive and accommodating front desk staff (think texting about appointment needs) to their incredibly knowledgeable and kind treatment staff and orthodontists. They were gentle and patient with my young daughter and have been available to answer any and all questions along the way. Not to mention there's a candy wall that serves as motivation to get this done! Their support during my Invisalign process has been top notch and I love going back to look at my video of the changes that are happening with each tray. I was on the fence about getting Invisalign as an adult so I decided to take my time and visit a few different offices before deciding if I was willing to commit to it. My third office visit was JRO and I was so blown away by them. Not only was my treatment time less than the other offices they were less expensive as well. They have knowledge on orthodontic products that no other office offered me that helped cut down the time. My dentist (who also offers invisalign) asked me all sorts of questions about how I was getting my teeth to move so quickly. I have considered getting Invisalign for a very long time but never had the courage to go through with the process because: 1) it was relatively new and I didn't feel reassured about its effects, and 2) I wasn't sure whether it would give me the flexibility that I wanted in terms of lifestyle. Much to my relief, JRO covered these concerns and more when I went in for my first consultation. I had my first appointment with an unnamed Orthodontist. I walked in and I received little to no information, I was put this in you mouth. I asked what are you doing? Then I received a quick explanation. I don't think this will ever happen at JRO. The staff is exceptional, I haven't ever received such treatment it is a pleasure to get a call before the visit then to get through the office and everyone treat you like your the only patient. I work in the medical field, I have been in management and I have never received treatment this great in all my years of dealing with customer service. JRO has the best service in the Richmond area. As always, I was taken back right at my appointment time. Ivy helped me today and was very friendly in chatting with her and also great with explaining what she was doing and why. Dr Scarborough came by, examined me and let me know how my smile was progressing. He let Ivy know of the adjustments to make and she took care of adjusting the wires and elastics. I checked out JRO first and then went to two other orthodontists to compare. I came back to JRO because of how friendly and professional the staff is and how clean and updated the office is. James River Orthodontics has been so great to my family. I have 2 kids in braces and the whole JRO team has embraced them like family. Not only were they able to work with me financially but even with scheduling appointments for the kids they almost always can put them together helping me with my hectic schedule. JRO is a fantastic orthodontics office. From the front desk to the technicians to the Orthodontist, himself - ALL WINNERS! Customer service is fantastic. The office is a state of the art facility with a spotless waiting room, computer games to keep the little ones busy until their name is called and even a Starbucks & yogurt machine to enjoy. When your appointment is over, there are clear expectations with respect to what you need to do at home, how much longer the braces will be on and of course, your next appointment! I brought my son in for a consultation. The office is beautiful and definitely full service. And while I could have gotten caught up in all the bells and whistles of the office alone, it wasn't that at all. What impressed me was how nice and accommodating everyone was!
