What to say about Jammers? The drinks are stiffer than your white uncle's dance moves, the bathrooms stink, the lighting's bad, there are twitchy zombies on the lotto machines, the bartenders are surly, and the regulars are even worse. It's a dive bar for crying out loud. And I love it to death. Beyond the initial impression and the occasional puddle of vomit in the parking lot, they stock a truly impressive amount of top shelf bottles. If you're a Scotch, Bourbon, or God help you- Tequila fan, then Jammers is the place for you. It puts many boutique bars to shame, and you won't have to deal with some curly mustache sporting bow-tied "mixologist" to get some of the best booze on Earth, and at better prices and pours, to boot. Simply put, for 90% of Salem, this isn't the bar for you. Head downtown and sip it with your pinky out in a brightly lit foofoo parlor. Was just dropping by for a drink and was refused service because the bartender looked at my drivers license and said "it was flimsier than other IDs". I asked him if there was a way he could scan it and he just told me to get lost and threatened to keep my drivers license. Really bad look for a bar, having employees that accuse customers of having fake IDs. I understand being cautions because of the possible fines, but I think it is unacceptable to have someone accuse me of a crime. The crowd is a good mix of young professionals and mostly normal-appearing people- a rarity in Salem. The KJs always do a good job of mixing up karaoke with dance music. During the mandated COVID shutdown, the owner totally remodeled the inside of this bar and it is GORGEOUS! It also has more Diamond pool tables and great meal selections. Jammers has wonderful bartenders and cooks... and the regulars are like family! I also appreciate the fact they are diligent about keeping minors out of the bar. If a visitor looks too young and the drivers license or State ID looks fake, they have to err on the side of caution, so don't get your nose bent out of shape if you are refused service... just go get your ID/license replaced if there is something wrong with it. read more

I came here as a DD for three people drinking and singing karaoke. One of the bartenders served me water, when I asked Mike, who is either the owner or a manager, for water he said, and I quote, "I don't do water!" I responded that I'm a DD for paying customers and he responded that he didn't care if I was a DD or not, that he doesn't do water and I was loitering. I have been a paying customer many many times at this bar and planned on buying a caffeinated beverage as it got later in the evening, but he certainly deterred me from that after this encounter. He continued to rudely point to another bartender and say "he might serve you a water because he doesn't seem to care about loitering." I'm not certain, but I think in Oregon they have to legally give people water, and if they are refusing waters to people buying drinks, that's messed up. Let's just say I probably won't be back now. I used to come here fairly often but have since avoided this place because of how rude and flat out unprofessional the manager (or owner?) and his staff are. It is very much a dive bar, and that has never bothered me, but the complete lack of decency this bar has just leaves a bad feeling when I think about ever going back. One particular night I went in with a coworker to have a couple after shift beers. My coworker was a real sweet girl with visible tattoos. Mike was the one serving us and when he handed her her drink he said "I bet you would be prettier without all of those nasty tattoos.".. Our jaws dropped. Why would you ever insult a PAYING customer in a such a way? We left shortly after. On a separate occasion, I went in with a girl friend who just wanted to have a drink and sing a karaoke song before they closed for the night. She signed up with the KJ and we waited probably about a half an hour until we heard the person who was right before her on the list get called. We thought "Sweet, we're next.".. After that song ended, the KJ announced karaoke was done for the night. We asked her if she had time for just one more, since my friend was literally the last person on the list, and she said she was done and if we didn't like it, we should leave. I mentioned to the manager behind the bar how rude I thought she was being and he yelled at us to "Get the hell out." So we left and said we wouldn't be back, and the KJ followed us out the door continuing to yell insults at us as we walked down the street. Pretty classy, huh? If I could give them a negative star rating, I would. I have never experienced worse customer service in my life. This bar is tacky and tasteless. Especially when they post up signs outside near the street that say "Wet Titty Contest Tonight", for every regular Joe and Jane and their kids to see. So completely unprofessional. After one failed attempt at finding a Karaoke joint late Sunday night, a group of friends and I found Jammers. I believe each of us had been to Jammers at least once in the past, I know I had rather recently for a friend's birthday party. Nothing really bad or really awesome happened in my previous experiences, but then again, I hadn't actually Karaoke'd personally. Upon arrival (after 11:00pm) I immediately checked out the food situation, as I had been starving for quite some time and needed some greasy goodness to ease the belly growls. I found out that full menu service ended at 10:00pm, but that fried food orders can be placed until closing. After ordering my basket of fries (which were hot and tasty), Blue Moon for myself, and a glass of water for my boyfriend - who was kind enough to be DD for the night - I made my way back to the table. I was mulling over the rather expensive bill I had just paid for when I realized they CHARGED TWO DOLLARS FOR WATER. This is uncool, sirs. Strike one. Next up on our agenda was to belt out some tunes. One of the group grabbed the Karaoke list and we started to flip through the selections. I have to say, could this be organized any worse? No consistency in songs by artist or songs by title for the most part. You'd see a grouping of alphabetically by song, then randomly, a few artists names tossed in there. This happened throughout the book. It made finding anything rather difficult. Strike two. The actual Karaoking was hit or miss. My boyfriend owned Rebel Yell by Billy Idol, probably the best performance of our group that night. Our other friends had a little more issues with the microphone, myself included. It seemed to randomly cut out our voice and switch to the actual artist occasionally. Or, in my case, it simply didn't registrar my voice for crap. I was told this could have been due to the song I choose, To the Moon and Back by Savage Garden. Regardless of the excuse, it ruined my Karaoke experience. Strike three. I don't know whether I love the place or just kind of ho hum about it. I know I don't hate it because I've suggested stopping in here a few times when I'm in Salem but I don't really feel the crowd here either. What I do know is that I enjoy the staff here and the people watching here is worth the drive down to Salem. Its funny that I've come here enough times now that the staff knows me now by my first name which is pretty bad when you don't even live in Salem! They pour a good drink and are pretty attentive to your empty glass when you're sitting at the bar. The karaoke here is really interesting. It could use some improvement but for Salem standards I will say this is one of the better places I've been to so far. As for the patrons, the many times that I've come here I always find myself entertained by the people that come in here. Not gonna mention anything in detail but if you're into people watching its worth the time to make the trek down here and enjoy yourself while you wait for karaoke song to come up. Worst f***ing experience at a bar ever! After standing at the bar for 5 minutes I finally tried to get the barkeeps attention to order a beer. I politely said, "hey, can I order a beer?" The guy then proceeds to lecture me about saying "please" and "thank you." Then tells me that I can get a beer, but does nothing. At this point, I'm not sure if this guy is screwing with me, or if I'm back in grade school, and I am being instructed on the differences between "can I" and "may I." As I stand there awkwardly wondering what I need to do to get a beer the barkeep continues to lecture me. Still no beer. Only after apologizing, for being a paying customer, was a beer provided. I felt so shitty that I couldn't even finish my beer. I closed my tab and left. I understand the importance of manners, but I wasn't being rude. Ha, I just wanted a beer, and got poor customer service. I will never go back to this bar. read more

This was the worst bar experience I have ever had. Well except for the pac man, pac man was pretty great! They had a puppy (not guide dog) behind the bar which they were taking turns holding. As if that wasn't enough, the bartender and wait staff transitioned from holding the dog to preparing food and drink without washing their hands. In addition, a patron took out a handgun and was showing it to the bartender who then removed his own gun from above the bar and began comparing them. All for gun rights here, but this made the atmosphere a bit uncomfortable to say the least. They did have a couple of above average karaoke singers though. Hubby and I came into Jammers on a Wed night with some friends that were familiar with the place and with Steve, who happens to work there. We walked in at about 10:30 PM at night. It was a really nice place, IMHO. There were people playing video lottery machines, people shooting pool, people just hanging around BSing, and a guy was singing karaoke. It reminds me of one of those cozy hometown type of bars. Not real stuffy and not real big, but just right! Their pool tables are SHARP. Man the sharks were out in full force, practicing on them. I had a ball watching them sink some crazy shots!! Steve was very kind and personable. He, too, is also a pool shark so watch out!! If I had to say anything negative about Jammers it would be the fact that they charge you $2 for a glass of water. The water is NOT free here and they got a bunch of little signs reminding you of this when you step up to the bar to order. $2, $2, $2!! Fortunately, they let me bring my own bottled water in. This bar is very dirty and unorganized and that is a reason you won't find me here. My friends came here a couple nights ago and are bartenders themselves. They had TWO DRINKS served by Mike and instantly felt hammered, sick and dizzy and are thinking something may have been put in their drinks? These girls drink often and two drinks would never get them drunk. The fact that they serve $2 waters is just weird and sketchy... I've never had a pleasant vibe from Mike... Our first time there. Started ok because it was dead for a friday, then i guess the regulars came in, and too many tweekers for us. We were treated poorly and KJ was playing favorites i guess, to ones not even spending much money. After i talked to manager, about us buying,tipping bartender AND KJ and renting pool table for 2 hours, i got to sing 4 songs and my brother got to sing 1, but the meth heads kept going up every few songs. In short , we bought food,drinks,table rent,tipped and still got crappy service. We seen several people OVER SERVED too!!! maybe OLCC should pop on. WE WILL NOT RETURN ,our money is good anywhere! Went to this place with a group of friends. I wasn't feeling well and had terrible dry mouth. I had one guys look at my ID and I asked if i could get a ginger ale or 7up. The karaoke guy put flies in our beers when we stepped outside!!! I have been to Hammers Tavern in S Salem many times throughout the years and the service is never spetacular but they have pool and karaoke. This time though, the karaoke guy( who's name I did not get) kept hitting on my friend and I who have wedding rings on and kept invading our personal space. Before we stepped outside (you can't take drinks) we were trying to get some of our beer down (we only ordered one each), decided it would be safe since there was only the bartender and the karaoke guy. (took us 5 minutes to even order with no one there) covered it with a coaster and stepped outside. Before we left, the karaoke guy demanded that we let him come with us and we turned him down again. When we came back I had just taken a drink when my friend said there was a fly on her beer, just as I was noticing that I had swallowed a fly sized and texured object. GROSS!!! We saw him killing flys when we got there too. There were no flies in our drinks before we stepped outside.
