I have been going to Janelles for about 5 years now, in that 5 years I have moved about an hour away (about 3 years ago) and will never change my salon. Discovered Gina after I left my previous stylist after over 35 years, so I am not big on change. Now, I wish I had moved years earlier. Gina was very patient with me, I was nervous over color since only my previous stylist had ever touched my color and I was very happy with that aspect of my hair. Gina brought layers to my one length hair and it was great. She is a great stylist and happy to make suggestions if you want them, but she never pushes an agenda. I love working with her. Great cuts and color. In addition, she also convinced me to treat myself to getting my nails done. My nails were bad. They are short, and chip and crack easily. Gina does the best manicure and the polish lasts for weeks. My nails have usually grown out, yet there is no chipping. Gina, cannot do nails. Awful job. Soaked the polish off as soon as I was home. Haircut by Gina, terrible. Used her scissors like a razor. They knew going in, I had thick hair, wanted weight removed. This was the worst chopping a person could experience. I will go back to Birmingham where prices are affordable and standards are higher in all the salons. My hairdresser of many years moved to FL and I have been searching. $165.00 for a color I was told contained no peroxide. Lie, it burnt my scalp and was not rinsed properly. Total bill nearly $300. Found this place on Groupon. When making the appointment they asked how long my hair was. I assumed they asked so they knew how long to block the appointment for. No mention was made of additional fees. When I got there she did a quick assessment of hair. She informed me the Groupon only covers 4oz of hair dye. Apparently this is such a small amount that it barely is enough to do a root touch up let alone an "all over color" as the Groupon stated and what I thought I was receiving. To completely do the job, it would be another $65. Um no thank you. I agreed to just a root touch up. Gina mixed the color and proceeded to slop it all over my scalp and forehead. Being a hairdresser you would assume that she would know a dark color dye tends to stain the skin. She made no attempt to not be so messy around the face and neck area. After she rinsed it out she did try and use a towel to clean it off but at this point it was already stained. My skin was still stained 2 days later. I would expect this type of dye job from a beauty school not a professional salon. Sad thing is for how she slopped it all over my forehead, she missed 2 spots that never got color and the gray was showing. Think I will stick to doing my own hair. Beware of the Groupon price. 4oz of color wouldn't even color a short hair length. read more

I am SOO happy I met KimAnn. I met KimAnn at a Christmas party of course we both talked about what each of us do. I told her that I was thinking about getting a new look. She told me changing my appearance is a very personal thing and whenever I'm ready I should come in and see her. This place is amazing! I got my hair done with KimAnn. She took her time with me and really made sure my hair looked perfect and made sure I was comfortable with what I got. I went from long brown curly hair to short straight blonde hair. I've been looking for a place to call my regular salon for a few years now, saw some average stylists, but I can honestly say I'm done looking because KimAnn is awesome. Gina pays such good attention to detail!! She spent an incredible amount of time on both my feet and my hands -- removed calluses on my feet (which were so bad to begin with) and then did 3 coats of shellac on my nails and 2 top coats because she said it will help protect the polish since I work in the hospital and am constantly washing my hands. She really tries to tailor to the needs of the client. She's great! The only negative is the pedicure chair doesn't really have the massage features that most salons do -- it just kinda softly vibrates. But because Gina did SUCH incredible work I will absolutely be back. Again and again!! read more

I've had a really rough couple of days and shared with Gina what was going on. Actually, she was massaging my face getting prepared for my facial treatment. I was so relaxed I just shared. I purchased a Groupon because I wanted to find an new salon and needed a new style. I had a hair cut from Kim Ann. Let me just tell you that it is probably the BEST hair cut I have ever had. It is much shorter than I expected but she cut it exactly like the picture I showed her so I got the cut I asked for . Kim Ann was so nice, she spent so much time making it perfect! I had a color catastrophe prior to coming in so my hair was not very healthy. She explained everything she was doing while she cut my hair and how to style it when she was done. I have gotten so many compliments on the cut and it is very easy to take care of and I can style it a few different ways. I will definitely go back. WOULD RECOMMEND WHOLEHEARTILY!!! When I first came to see Gina, my nails had been ruined by another nail salon and the method they were using to remove the shellac polish (soaking in acetone and using an electric file.) They were weak, thin and torn up. Gina has helped to nurse them back to being stronger than they have ever been! When Gina puts shellac polish on them, the polish lasts at least 3 weeks and there are never any rough edges or defects. She is also so friendly and hysterically funny! Not really a place that I would just walk in off the street, as she is pretty busy, but she will work hard to get you in, even if it means staying late or coming in on her day off. read more

Gina did it again, exceeded my expectations. This time I brought in some fun Halloween stickers to embellish my shellac manicure, now my 4th with Gina, cause they LAST SO LONG. Well... she got inspired and proceeded to create a different Halloween scene ON EACH NAIL without me asking. I could tell she was having fun with it. Obviously, these sort of designs are not for everyone, but if you like Halloween and have a playful spirit, why not?
