I've been seeing Dr. Huang for several years. She's an awesome doctor. She's been extremely thorough and very knowledgeable at every visit. I never feel like she's rushing through my appointment like how most doctors do. I truly believe she cares about the patients she sees. She has always covered any and all of my medical concerns. I saw the other Yelp reviews about long waiting times. I really have not had any issues but i'm a patient person. I think if there was a long waiting time it's because she's taking care of other patients and people have questions so it takes time. She can't control it if Patient A and Patient B has 50 questions to ask. So try to be understanding. She'll be thorough with them just like how she would be with you. I hate to leave a bad review but I feel it's necessary... I saw Dr. Huang a few times and had no major issues with her besides the wait time and the fact that you have about a 2 minute window of her time before she's running out the door. I made an appointment to talk about a knee injury and family planning (the staff told me they had made extra time in the appointment for this). She was hesitant to give me a referral for MRI (had to flat out ask for it) for what turned out to be a torn meniscus that required surgery, all she wanted to do was give me physical therapy. After she gave me MRI referral she asked me what else I wanted to discuss and I said my husband and I were trying to have a baby, her response "just try". A few months later I saw her because I was having menstrual bleeding for an extended amount of time. She recommended me to have a blood test/ultrasound. I was able to get the blood test first and had to call for my results only to be told very un-compassionately I was having a miscarriage by her staff. Personally, I felt the Dr. should have called me with these results. I then asked if I still needed to do the ultrasound she responded "NO". Fast forward another two weeks, I continued to call the office regularly and asked to speak to the Dr. because I was having very bad cramps and still bleeding. I was then scolded for not doing the ultrasound which they had told me not to do? I was told the Dr. wasn't available--if I really felt that bad I should go to the ER. I finally took matters into my own hands and made a self referral to an OBGYN. They took my issue VERY seriously as it should have been since I was actually having an ectopic pregnancy that required immediate attention. I did end up in the ER for this issue and felt that this Dr and her staff did not take my case seriously. Ironically, after I had already been treated I did get a call from Dr. Huang herself saying she hadn't heard from me and was calling to see what the status was? I'm updating my review because it's long overdue. I've been Dr. Huang's patient since 2012 and Dr. Huang has always taken the time to answer my questions. She's great at helping me get the tests or prescriptions I need. I did take off a star for difficulty to get an appointment quickly and it does take at least an hour to be seen by Dr. Huang after the appointment time. She's always pretty booked up and if I have a problem that needs immediate attention I go to an Urgent Care. But when I as in a car accident while I was 3 months pregnant Dr. Huang was the doctor that took care of my needs during and after the pregnancy. My OB/GYN took care of the baby, Dr. Huang took care of me. Between the two I have a healthy and happy toddler and I am almost back in shape. Now I don't ever call out other reviewers that disagree with my review BUT when Yelpers like Meghan blasts out that positive reviews are FAKE then I have no choice but to call her out that HER review is NOT on the doctor but on an office personnel. In addition she is advertising ANOTHER doctor in the same Yelp review. Very suspicious. Now I've never seen the office manager before nor do I care to meet her. All I care about is that the doctor, reception, and nurse at Dr. Huang's office are kind to me and answers all my questions. ============== As for Amber's review I am so sorry to hear that happened to her. Growing up, I never liked our family physician, who was very conservative and unhelpful. When I was 18, I was recommended to Dr. Huang by a classmate's mom. She said Dr. Huang was "hip." I don't think Dr. Huang is necessarily "hip" but I can say this: Dr. Huang is personable, knowledgeable, and has empathy for teens and young adults. She is able to speak frankly and in a nonjudgmental way about young adult issues--including reproductive health--with her patients. She does not talk down or patronize, but she isn't afraid to let you know what she thinks about your health habits, either. She also very clearly articulates privacy rights to young patients. She can defuse intrusive and demanding parents and protect the privacy of her patients. (This is great for Irvine kids who have nosy Asian parents. And she speaks Chinese, too, so that's a plus.) I remember once, I was very ill, she actually gave me a personal home number to call her; she was that concerned about my welfare. For the past four years I've lived 50 miles away from her office and still had her as my primary care physician. It's become less practical and I will have to change primary care physicians, but I strongly recommend Dr. Huang for young adult women in the Irvine area. She's been fantastic. read more

So I haven't seen a primary care physician in years. My last physical was in 2006 when I started my general practice residency. So I don't get sick too often and rarely go in for any type of physical or checkup but I was way overdue and since I was applying for disability insurance, they wanted me to get a thorough evaluation otherwise there would be "exclusions" to what the policy covers. Dr. Janet Huang and her staff were super friendly and nice. They were attentive and looked up my insurance and found out the visit was covered completely. Great news since I thought my insurance was crap. Dr. Huang came in, took her time to answer all my questions and to do a thorough history of my health and even went over my family health to see what risks I have may in the future. Overall it was a great experience in which I felt that I was their highest priority. They even helped to write a letter to the insurance company for me explaining my good health. I came in 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, and waited an additional 30-35 minutes before seeing Dr. Huang. The wait was a bit long, but Dr. Huang was great! She has a very warm bedside manner, and exudes confidence and efficiency. I would give 5 stars if not for the long wait. I'd also love it if she could make better use of technology by having patients enter their histories online, request prescriptions online, etc, but otherwise, Dr. Huang is a great doctor. Also, everyone in the office was an East Asian female (staff & patients included), which was interesting...I guess that's Irvine for you! I have been a patient of Dr. Janet Huang for 12 years. During that time, I've needed treatment for a variety of injuries/conditions. I can't say enough good about her professionalism, caring, time spent with me and knowledge of my history. She is absolutely the best! Her office staff (Nancy & Miriam) are also A++. The wait time is very reasonable (less than 30 min.). When I ask the office or Dr. Huang for anything (specialty referral, etc.) they are immediately responsive. They also follow-up to remind me when I need to come in or have a specific screening or test performed. Needless to say, I never want to have another G.P. I think Dr. Huang is wonderful. read more

I am extremely disappointed, to say the least after seeing one Google review and bringing up race I thought this person was being bias. It's not a bias I hope, but a extreme lack of care. After my visit I was prescribed medication. My main focus was for my insomnia, which I have struggled with for years. I have been on a been on a numerous amount of prescription drugs, herbal, and halustic for sleeping. Unfortunately none have worked so I saught out Janet due to her location. Her answer medication... But it was for depression I am not depressed and I inquired with Janet because I thought maybe this was a miss communication. However upon inquiry her justification was "it can help with insomnia"... The drug I was prescribed was designed for depression with a side effect of fatigue (possibly) I'm not depressed. I called again because I thought there was a misunderstanding, but I was just another number on your sheet. Thank you Janet for wasting my time. You're reviews mention race too often, and play it off as a joke because it's Irvine I don't agree with that at all. BUT you're lack of care, referring to your patients and their medical history, to me is crockery. read more

I had been her patients for 7 years. Everything was fine until I was sick. It seems she likes to exaggerate your condition and prescribe medications that are more than necessary. I only had some minor sleeping problems but she prescribed some anti-depression medicine without explaining the side effects. I took one pill and blacked out in 5 mins. I have been going here for almost a year now and the front desk lady is horrible and want return calls or messages as she always tells you, if I ave a script waiting for me and unless I call her she want call you , I have had too leave town and need my script by a certain time and my script would just be setting on her desk for days and I'd never get a call, the Dr should get a new desk lady for sure and realize she's probably loosing patients over her, I don't recommend this office too no one cause of the way the Dr and front desk lady operates there business.. read more

I am a new patient in Dr. Huang Office. I have no idea what I should do. Dr. Huang's staff helps me to go through all process. The nurse is thoughtful and very patient to help me get the prescription. She calls the down stair pharmacy for my prescription. When I go down stair it is ready and quick. That saves me a lot of time instead of waiting in the line for my medication in CVS or other chain pharmacy. I am willing come back to visit Dr.Huang and her staff in the future. read more

I became Dr. Huang's patient 2 months ago. I regret not coming to see her when I first moved here 2 years ago. Although people say the wait time is long, for my 2 visits, I was seen once 5 minute and another 20 minutes after I arrived. I guess it depends on her schedule on certain days. Needless to say, she is patient and answers all my questions to my satisfaction. She ordered a blood test for me and followed up with my after receiving my results. She prescribed medicine for my condition but at low dosage first to see how I react to the drug. The front desk lady always returned my calls promptly. On one visit to her office, the front desk lady was very patiently helping another patient making an appointment. This patient so happened to have a very difficult schedule to work with. The lady never showed any signs of annoyance and spent over 15 minutes helping her. I believe the quality of services at Dr. Huang's practice has been great right from the beginning or has improved recently. I am happy with my experience so far. read more

Dr. Huang is a very professional and experience doctor. I am very happy that I came to her. I was once with another doctor who kept asking me to buy her medicine but my problem just got more serious. After almost 1 and half years, I switched to Dr Huang. After she heard my description, the same as what I told my previous doctor, she promptly refered me to take ultrasound. She explained the pblm that I had very clearly and let me know what choices that I could have. Starting from that moment, I count on her very much. Despite the pblm came back recently after I took other prescriptions for my other problems. She still very patient to work out the solution with another doctor in order to help me get well.
