I've been coming to this practice for around or over twenty years. Since my mom took me as a kid or teen. I started seeing Alison as a new PA. She used to be so bright and caring. The last few times I've been in she just seemed bothered and annoyed with anything id ask of her. Last time I went was in late June for a recurrent and mysterious skin issue that was happening to my face. they asked if the med student would see me. I said no my issue seems pretty complex so I'd feel more comfortable seeing the provider for this. Alison came in visa my annoyed and said "it's Impetigo" and gave me antibiotics. I asked for a referral to see a dermatologist and she said "just use silicon scar cream" the whole interaction was 5 maybe 10 minutes max. I accepted the diagnosis despite it being for 3- 5 year olds. Early October I ended up in the ER because the latest outbreak was so severe I couldn't eat or drink water, or use the bathroom without immense pain. Once in the ER they administered Morphine without me even asking and diagnosed me with Becet's syndrome, which is a very rare, very serious and aggressive, autoimmune disorder and the outbreaks I was having can cause strokes and blindness. Bless the staff at Hoag they ran all the tests and gave me all the right referrals, including a dermatologist. I wrote this review once before but interestingly Yelp took it down stating it seemed unlikely to have happened. Yes I completely relate to the shock of such a great degree of medical negligence that could have ended catastrophic for me if it had been a stroke or blindness that landed me in the ER and could have been. I post this review because I am sure I am not the only patient being treated like this and want to share my story and also offer a degree of accountability. You are a health care provider to help people. If you hate helping people and are so miserable with your job then find another one. But her negligence caused me great harm and could have caused much greater harm. So please learn from what I went through. Advocate for yourself. And if they won't listen then find another doctor who will because there are plenty out there who still care and still want to help and still find joy and meaning in their jobs. Also it's extremely shady they had the review removed. Doubt mine isn't the only one either. read more

Made an appointment with this doctor a month ago. Was told they had to verify my insurance before an appointment could be made, it was checked/approved, appointment put on books. Now less than 24 hours from appointment I'm told it's being cancelled because my insurance is not okay. Nothing had changed on my end. So I responsibly do everything as directed and now have to look for a new doctor and wait weeks - without meds - to get an appointment. This doctor's staff is inefficient, unprofessional and cannot be depended on for basic administrative tasks. As a retired Medical Assistant, their complete lack of accountability, zero effort to make things right or voice any concern for their mistake was shockingly poor customer service. Beware. If they are making mistakes at the most basic administrative levels they are assuredly making far worse with prescriptions, electronic medical record maintenance and billing! read more

Every step of the process was wonderful. The staff was professional and kind. So was Dr. Fischbein. I told him I was transgender and that I used estrogen. I don't generate any hormones without it. He told me he would send my medication to the pharmacy of my choice. All was well. The pharmacy said they hadn't received the order. Then they said it again. I called Dr. Fischbein's office to check what was up. The staff said they'd get it sent. Still doesn't show up. I call again. They say they'll get it sent. It still doesn't show up. I have to wait over the weekend. I've been rationing my medication for a week now. I'm a bit miffed at this point. I call on Monday. They say they can't fulfill one of the prescriptions, because an endocrinologist has to. This was *not* previously stated. I ask them to double check, as Dr. Fischbein said he would fulfill them. They do. They call me back. Apparently, Dr. Fischbein says he will not fulfill the prescription, as an endocrinologist has to. Dr. Fischbein looked me in the face and told me, with what I thought was earnestness, that he would fulfill my prescriptions so I could have time to set up my appointment with a specialist and get a blood test. I recently moved to California, and as some of you may know, having your medications moved to a new state isn't easy. It takes time to set up appointments and get the things you need. Now, I'm without a vital medication and am expecting it to take months to receive it, as Dr. Fischbein was unwilling to give me an on ramp in the new state I live. I've seen three doctors previously and had them fulfill this prescription without a single problem, to help me get situated and get to the appointments I need. This is a bizarre outlier. Was it an exceptionally rigid attitude that led him to make that decision? Or blatant discrimination? I'm not really sure. All I know is that I was told that I cannot have it. I've been on this medication for a decade and, given my past experiences with caregivers, didn't expect to have this kind of issue. Especially in California. But here we are. I'm feeling confused, saddened, lied to and left with no recourse. Dr. Fischbein's demeanor was welcoming and wonderful. I fully expect that his high reviews are accurate and correct. At least, if you're not LGBT. read more

Speechless, really speechless! Extremely, extremely, extremely, rude staff who hang up on you while you're still talking. Billing! Oh you get billed for just saying hello to the doctor. You go there for your annual checkup (no co-pay is required for annual checkups), have a 5 minute visit with the doctor, during which you happen to say you've been having some pain somewhere, you get charged a co-pay if the doctor decides to order an imaging study to see why you've been having pain. read more

This might be one of the most belated reviews I've written since it's been at least 2-3 years since I've seen Dr. Fishbein. You know a doctor is amazing at their job when you're talking to a friend and when they mention they name "Fishbein" your first thought is to immediately hop on Yelp once the call is over so you can write a review for your former physician. Dr. Fishbein has a fantastic sense of humor and dry wit. I imagine you'd have to develop one anyway to not lose your mind going through the rigors of medical school. It created such a relaxed atmosphere during our visits that making appointments with Dr. Fishbein was something I actually looked forward to. Why? Because I knew I would get straightforward communication with reasonable wait times and have fun cutting it up with Dr. Fishbein while still discussing practical remedies for whatever I had going on. I can't stress that enough- he is incredibly practical and it makes everything so much easier. I've never once felt talked down to and even with his joking personality, he never failed to communicate with care and thoughtfulness. His intentionality behind how he interacts with his patients totally sets him apart. In addition, I had a fantastic experience with Tamara on the rare occasion that I wasn't able to see Dr. Fishbein. I would absolutely go back to seeing him again in the future. read more

Referred my husband to this office because a lot of people are always saying he's a good doctor. HA. Called to make an appointment for my husbands annual physical. The appointment scheduler was absolutely friendly and was able to get him in on his day off from work (he's a Surgical Assistant so he rarely gets any weekday off). My husband arrived and paid for his co-pay (red flag!) and apparently Dr. Fishbein didn't even touch my husband at all. What kind of annual physical doesn't involve any type of touching? Didn't check his lungs, heart, eyes, ear or prostate. Didn't ask about medical history or anything. The visit was just - "Here's a lab req. once we get your test results, we will go from there." I work for a Physician and I KNOW FOR A FACT that you do not collect copays for physicals because it's a preventative care. When we got the claims back from our insurance - it even states $0 copay. This office is just taking money from patients! My husband doesn't work the front desk in a medical office so he just paid for it without realizing. When he got his bloodwork back, the medical assistant said everything was normal. Didn't try to schedule another appointment for AN ACTUAL PHYSICAL. My husband called to speak with the manager - but apparently you end up playing phone tag in this office because there's a different phone number for every department - (and lunch hours go until 2pm - even though voice message says 1:30pm) and she basically said "We don't do Physicals on New Patients. We bill it under something else." And when my husband tried to tell her that was fraudulent she had the audacity to HANG UP. so very professional. So my husband will be filing an appeal with the insurance. We will also be complaining to the board about the illegal acts going on in this office. If you DO NOT see new patients for their physicals - TELL US! My husband shouldn't have to pay a copay for Dr. Fishbein to do absolutely nothing. Ridiculous office. Avoid at all costs. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Fish for a long time when I was kid. Great place to take children. He takes time to explain things, and he makes you feel comfortable when you are sick. I especially like the puppet thingy that looks just like him. There's a nice and friendly approach. read more

We focused on what needs to be done in light of my labs and plans for future. Great staff, helpful and friendly, they don't discriminate. Things have been a little more hectic with COVID, but we have not found that is true with our Healthcare. Dr. Fishbein is an incredible provider and person. He takes our concerns seriously, listens, and take action. I don't have to feel helpless or concerned because he takes immediate steps for any health-related issues we have. I had been experiencing pain in my abdomen for a little while as well as other symptoms. None of those symptoms could be seen. That didn't matter. Dr. Fishbein took my complaint seriously and sent me in for an abdominal ultrasound. We discovered I had an inguinal hernia, and now I'm recovering from surgery and this issue has been taken care of. It is so true that if you have an amazing GP that everything else fits into place. If you are looking for fantastic healthcare and support for your family, look no further. read more

He was a family friend. Over the years I started noticing the service wasn't as personal as it once was. Then my husband is told he has to go to a phlebotomist because his white blood cell count was low...they had been mo monitoring it for years without telling my husband. Now he has a blood disease that should of been diagnosed years ago. Then, my mother years ago had dizzy spells and was told my Dr fishbein it was because of dehydration...even though she had an ecg done once and turns out she had a heart attack without knowing. Still...he said she needed to drink more water. Well...3 days ago she was rushed to the hospital because her heart best was 20bps and had another dizzy spell and now has a pacemaker. Again..the new doctors instructed her she should had better care from another doctor and her previous heart attacked should of had more monitoring. I will never forgive him and never return. Everyone go to Dr. Michael Chang in Aliso, he cares about his patients! And Dr. Fishbein..I hope you read this and know how disappointed you have made the family you were friends with for so many years. read more

I didn't really have a primary care doctor until I met Dr. Fishbein. I got very sick and called the office and was given an appt same day. He saw me, knew what it was right away, gave me options and lots of information. He explained everything really well and was very nice. He had me get an X-ray within the hour and his office called me with the results within an hour or two from that. My husband has been going to him too and respects him a lot. I've been a patient for a long time now (well over a decade). I love his new location (moved in a couple of years ago) modern, spacious, and clean. EVERYONE in the office is professional, courteous, and friendly. They are quite up to date on technology in the office as well. Dr. Fishbein takes great care to intelligently keep me informed and doesn't jump on the bandwagon of "new and improved" treatment just because it's "new." He's ALWAYS been honest and forthright and I believe he truly has my best interests in mind. My doctor Michael Shaw retired and my files were turned over to Family Care Center. I did some checks on YELP and found this office either got 5 stars or 1 star.?? WELL, they got 5 STARS from me !!! Jennifer at the front desk is a WONDERFUL person, greeter, administrator and has a great smile !!! Tiffany was my personal medical assistant that got me through the basics of temperature and blood pressure and once you mention Calgary, she hits second gear and gets even better !!! I selected Dr Fishbein as my medical provider and found him efficient and professional on the first visit and when I had my annual physical on the second visit, he was warm, friendly and thorough. I honestly think Dr. Fishbein is the best!!! He is short(not his height) and very precise with his words. Yes, he does have a unique personally but my wife and I LOVE it. We always talk and laugh about our experiences with him. Dr. Fishbein is a very kind and caring Doctor to say the least!!!!!!!! We would really love to sit and have a couple drinks with him. My wife and I have been with his practice for 13 years now and never want him to retire. We are very easy going people and only put trust in people whom have consistently performed. As I've become an adult I have become fully aware on what makes a good Doctor and it's clear to me that he has lost touch with his profession. I also really like that the doctor responded to my question the same day I sent it the day before my appointment via NextMD secure e-mail. I did extensive research on all the reviews for Dr. Fishbein before I went to visit him, but I found him to be rude, nasty, and uncooperative. Dr. Fishbein doesn't like to help his patients, or write prescriptions when needed. "I don't feel comfortable" is his response to any prescription that he should write. I think for the future, this doctor should give-up his practice and try the music business as he is better suited to that field. Save your money and find a doctor that is caring and cooperative, as he is NOT! read more
