This thrift shop is one of the Peninsula's hidden gems! It used to be called Pick of the Litter; discovered this when I lived in Burlingame years ago. So glad they're still around! This store is one of those spots that' just easy to keep coming back to. The location is great because of how close the highway is to it and having a parking lot right next to the building makes it super convenient. There are also a lot of good cafes and restaurants nearby, plus a Goodwill, so it's easy to make a quick loop out of the trip. The staff are always friendly and greet you right when you walk in. They also have a board next to the entrance that clearly shows the sale colors, so you don't have to guess what's discounted. The inventory is a solid mix too. You'll find everything from more affordable pieces to higher-end items near the counter, which keeps it interesting every time I visit here. Wow, what a hidden gem of a place! We were driving by and it caught my eye. Stopped and browsed to score many rare records, a steel pot with a lid and a sequined mini dress. Such random items, but an absolute treasure of a shop. Mo was super helpful in guiding my husband to their upcoming huge record inventory. This is one of the best thrift stores in the area. Place is very organized and has a broad selection of items. Great variety of clothing, books, pet items, men's belts, and even high end luxury items at great prices. I found a really awesome vintage belt and it was only $7! The manager was extremely hospitable from the moment I walked in, nothing but great vibes. Helped me find a macro lens and am extremely excited to test it out. Pick of the Litter Thrift shop benefits the Peninsusla's ASPCA and has a wide selection of clothing and homegoods from local donations. Their prices are very reasonable and they were even having a 20% off sale on some items. I picked up a jacket from a brand sold at Macy's for $8 that's in excellent condition. Staff was very friendly and helpful. While I was browsing they had several people organizing racks and tidying up. The shop was quite busy on a Saturday afternoon. Currently, August 2024, they're starting to put out some Halloween and Fall decor-check them out if you're looking for some unique holiday decorations at bargain prices. Went here for the first time on a Tuesday afternoon in hopes to find some pieces for Coachella outfits. There sure is a lot to look around and dig for so make sure you have plenty of time to look around. I was able to find some cute accessories and crochet pants for an outfit. Not a huge variety in the men's selection but was able to find this fun button up shirt. The staff is super friendly, and they do purse giveaways every month which is really cool! Imagine if your local, small community thrift store was purchased by a private equity firm. That used copy of stratego, that used to be $4 or $5 dollars is now $14. The old stereo amp, that used to go for $20 is now $90. CDs are $2 each, except when they are $7 or $9. A great selection of books gets tossed. Anything of any value at all is now behind the counter. etc... etc... Just head over to Goodwill. Better selection, and prices that don't pretend that everything is going to sell as if its on eBay. read more

I visited this store on a trip to the peninsula. It's my large adult son's favorite thrift. He often visits with his dog in tow and sometimes his wife. He's always excited about the name-brand shirts he finds on the racks. The prices are generally good here. Some items are marked way up, e.g., $29 for a nondescript used black T-shirt with the number 45 on it. I noticed that the higher-priced items also have security tags affixed to them. A new pair of "Joe's" jeans with tags was also $29. Both high-priced items had blue tags, so they qualified for a 25% discount. I *love* that they have a "today's discounts" board at the entrance. The discounts on this Saturday were 25% off blue tags and 50% off yellow tags. If you were lucky enough to find orange, pink, or green items marked under $14, they were only $1. I didn't notice the $1 items until we exited the store and realized there was a rack of them right outside! Seniors (60+) get 25% off on Tuesdays. Pets are well provided for here: collars and leashes go for $3 and $4, and vests cost $3-$6. Pet clothes are 1 for $5 or 2 for $7 "unless otherwise marked." The store has a mish-mash of items, including housewares, jewelry, books, greeting cards, and decorative items, along with a good selection of both men's and women's clothing and shoes. BIG PLUS for this store: there is a fitting room. There used to be two, but one is blocked off and used for storage. The downside was there was quite a queue for the single room, as it was a busy Saturday. But at least there is a place to try things on. I find it impossible to buy thrift pants if I can't try them on because everything fits differently. My husband found a couple of Hawaiian shirts that he liked but did not buy because (a) our large adult son kiboshed one of them, and (b) the other was marked "as is" due to a bad case of ring around the collar. It probably would have washed out, but he didn't want to take the chance. Son, however, found a couple of knit shirts that he bought to add to his collection of Pick of the Litter shirts. I was surprised that sales tax was added to the sale - in Arizona, non-profits do not charge sales tax. California is different, it seems....!!! I noticed a sign outside stating donations were full, even though it was before 3 p.m. That would annoy me if I took the trouble to bring in donations. The store was fun to shop in. If I were a resident, I would come here often. lol read more

I LOVE Treasure Paws and have been thrifting here for years. I tell eeeeeeeveryone about it! I don't know what I love more...the quality of the items from which to choose, the fantastic prices, the darling, helpful and friendly staff, or that my money goes to a truly wonderful cause. On my most recent trip yesterday, I needed more upscale attire for work and found soooo many beautiful pieces for pennies on the dollar. And there are hidden gems in every section! Last year I bought a Louis Icart print for an amazing price! A few weeks ago, a $250 blazer for under $20, and the list goes on (and on and on!!). Rarely do I go into an establishment and feel like they genuinely care that you're there, but Treasure Paws (and the previous iteration as Pick of the Litter) is not shy about sharing their smiles and chatter with you! I was extremely disappointed when I went. I have been wanting to go here for months especially after seeing the reviews and awesome pictures everyone took. I don't know if I chose a bad day or what but it was not at all what I saw in the pictures. A large amount of junk. Definitely not a fun experience to look through mostly junkie items. I've seen better selections at a goodwill. I have two stars because the staff were extremely nice. Unfortunately, not worth making another trip. read more

Swung by with my parents to check this place out and try to find some gems. I was hoping to find a large selection off men's items but it's pretty limited. I did manage to find a boxed Holga film camera for very cheap. The store is pretty well organized for a mosh mash of different items. I really like the lay out of the glassware for sale as well as the dvd/vinyl selection as well. Very friendly staff here too, great place to thrift! read more

Great prices new and gently used items sold here. I bought a new dog crate here for $20.00. I saw the same one at Pet Club for $80.00. I go there now to buy many things for my pets. Not to mention all the nice clothes, purses etc. for me to buy. All proceeds are given to the PHS. read more

I'm In preparation for a move abroad I'm sending them everything I'm not taking with me. All the items donated are benefiting the PHS and support their mission to help disadvantaged families offset the cost of feeding their pets. I love that--prevent the pets from being surrendered to the already overcrowded shelters. I love this place, I only wish their donation hours were longer as I'm coming from SF so sometimes I am racing to get there before the cut off. 1.5 hours a day is too short a time. read more

I could not give 5 stars because I was told they have no dressing rooms. They do have them, but they are not in use-a big drawback in a place that sells clothes. ** During Quarantine Review: Feb 2021** I've gone to my fair share of thrift shops and I've established a preference for certain types of pre-loved shops. You've got your chains with warehouse full of items, shops that lean more towards consignment type of products, which also tend to be higher priced, and then you have the middle of the road shops that are usually run by a volunteer organization that has a moderate selection and moderate prices. "Pick of the Litter" was just that and I loved it! During my visit 10 shoppers could shop at a time and while I thought Sunday would have been a light shopping day, my friend and I waited "ruff"ly 25 minutes to enter - Sorry I had to, lol. Nevertheless, once shoppers exited I quickly surveyed the store to see their products. Unfortunately, since we waited 25 minutes I was somewhat pressed for time and could only shop for 20 minutes or so, so I had to shop fast! They have different tiers of tags. At the time of my shopping purple and orange tags were original price, white 25% off, blue 50% off, and green 75% off. Women's clothes were in the front half of the shop, while shoes and household goods in the middle, and books in the back. I'm not sure if the green tags are always in the middle/back but I was able to score a pair of nice work pants for $2.50! While I probably could have spent another 30-40 minutes to really look through everything and discover more hidden gems I was able to score a nice dress and pants for $8 during my shopping time there AND... to top it off the proceeds benefit the local humane society. I never leave without having a great experience. My latest visit was to find something to improve this year's outdoor holiday display. I bought a few other things for my dogs from their well stocked pet department and then found an amazing light garland with a spectacular bow. How do they do it. I love it here! There is a pet section in the back left of the store and you can find some animal themed items throughout the store. Very friendly and kind staff is what makes this shop stand out. Great deals if you find something you like. Clothes in front, kid stuff in middle, vases and bric bracs toward the right. DVD, cds, media, books in the back. Book section in the very very back. Holiday items in the front, once in a while there are sales so you can prepare for Christmas. Oh yea there is a year round wall of Christmas ornaments , how lovely. Service is really lacking. They will remind you every 2 minutes that the store is closing soon if you enter in within 20 minutes before closing. They didn't say this to those that seemed like regular customers, but with new customers they feel the need to remind continuously. Of course I know to leave before closing and that I have only a few minutes to glance around, but they made my friend and I feel very unwelcome for even being there 20 minutes before closing. I stood by the door right before closing time to wait my friend to finish and the cashier ushered me out of the store. While I hope that the contrary is true, I can't help but feel racially profiled because everyone else who was treated with friendly smiles & conversation during our visit was of a certain age & demographic. I think the store has a great selection although I think the pricing is ridiculous. Most thrift stores go by a flat rate price on items such as tops dresses, bottoms kids clothes, etc.. The store will literally Google search an item and look at what similar items go for on eBay and then price the item for that. I understand some items may have higher value than others, but I think it's absurd to charge a customer that at a thrift store. It's not like this is some boutique, the store is literally getting items for free and robbing people. I think thrift stores are ruining the joy of thrifting because of these absurd prices, thrift stores are meant to find deals on pre loved items. Today, I found a pair of vintage baby Oshkosh overalls and there was no price on it so I brought it to the register and the owner literally looked it up on eBay and told me they "could be" worth up to $200 which is comical. He told me he had to figure out a price for them still, which is honestly ridiculous for a pair of used baby overalls from the 90s. With all that being said, I sadly won't be shopping here anymore, I think it's great they donate money to the shelter but I feel like they can still raise money without absurd unrealistic pricing of items. read more
